Pretty sad actually. I had hoped they put a bit more effort into the main story...
Oh well, the game will last me for a long while in either case.
remember its a speedrun, read the article
Yeah, I read it(sort of), but I don't think it makes that much of a difference.
that means you missed the point where the guy who made the speed run had been play-testing it for a massive length of time as well as assist in designing the game? That does make a huge difference. Neither of us did that so we can expect a pretty massive game.

I might be good at playing games when I get started, but I won't be able to, nor ever will, get anywhere near that time.

20+ hours into Dark Souls, about half way through. Might pick up Skyrim once its discounted.
You do know that these 2 numbers have absolutely nothing to do with each other right? You could pretty much beat oblivion in 3 hours, but you still had easily over 70 hours of content before mods or dlc.

Demon's Souls was beaten in LESS than an hour.

I'm pretty sure I'll spend 2 hours in the character creator of Skyrim, as it looks more complex than Oblivion's and I could easily spend that much on it.

2 hours huh? I'll count myself lucky if I finish the game in two months.

Still, good for him. And he got pie! That's a plus.
Yea, that lucky bastard. I wanted Pie :(
Lucky Bastard, I want his JOB! Until I retire at age 32 that is.

So, all that hype and it turns out to be even shorter than your average Call of Duty campaign?

Fuck that.

Pardon me folks, I need to cancel my pre-order.

So a guy that's been playing this game for who knows how many countless hours is able to beat it quickly... Hardly seems tread-worthy...

I love you for posting this... so much.

This is kinda crazy. I have to wonder exactly how that works in an RPG... oh well! I won't know all the tricks and things to do right away, so I'm not worried.

Uh... how do I suck teeny weent text? Well... I've never done that before, but if I was going to start then I suppose I would place it in my mouth and apply suction.

Okay seriously, take the text you want to shrink and place it between "sub" tags. Like this:

(Press the quote button on this post to see how it's done.)

Normal text size.

[sub]Subbed once.[/sub]

[sub][sub]Subbed twice.[/sub][/sub]

[sub][sub][sub]Subbed thrice.[/sub][/sub][/sub]

etc

I get sidetriacked WAY too easily for this kinda thing, maybe 50 hours on a third or fourth character.

Come on! How can you make this game so horrible Bethesda?!?! Everyone knows the faster a speedrun is of your game, the worse it is! That's why Morrowind is one of the worst games ever made, since it was beaten in like 5 minutes. AAAAWWW MAAAN! This game's gonna suuuuuuuck!

Things like this always concern me because it means that the game contains essentially 3 hours of relevant content and hours upon hours of filler.

It's like people that level from 1-80 in four days in World of Warcraft..
Essentially, it makes you realize just how much of the game involves "grinding"

I sank maybe 30 hours into Oblivion and then found there was nothing else to do, even after trying every character-build.
I think Skyrim will be capable of standing up to much much more than that.

Skyrim Beaten In Just Over Two Hours

One of Bethesda's QA testers has beaten the highly anticipated RPG in an impressive two hours and sixteen minutes.

To a given value of "beaten," of course. Presumably QA tester Sam Bernstein didn't see too much of Skyrim's verdant scenery as he scuttled from quest to quest in a bid to beat development team rep Jeff Browne to the end credits. Bernstein's final time was a lightning-fast 2:16:10 - twenty seconds faster than Browne's effort. The speed run competition was held to celebrate Skyrim's imminent launch and cheats were not allowed. Bernstein, who can be seen basking in the august rays of victory above, received a small trophy for his troubles as well as a pie of his choice, baked by director Todd Howard. Bernstein also won the speed run competition for Fallout 3 back when it launched, finishing the post-apocalyptic RPG with a final completion time of 75 minutes. Not bad.

Of course, regular gamers who haven't been playing Skyrim non-stop for the past year - or designing it for that matter - probably won't get through the game quite that fast. Bethesda has claimed it will take players around 30 hours to beat the game's central quest, not including the time it takes them to father (or mother) a dynasty of lizard children.

You can take your best shot at Bernstein's record when Skyrim launches on November 11th.

I don't understand how it's a good thing that he beat the game so fast. It's like someone getting an award for breaking a matress in two days. Sure, he was probably having sex with an elephant on it, but why would you buy a matress if you know it can get worn out in just two days?
Or as a friend of mine once said: "Talking about how fast you beat a game is like talking about how fast you are in bed."

I understand their reasoning for it, but how can that possibly be any fun? Competitive or not? I would rather just enjoy my time with it.

The most interesting part about this for me is that Todd Howard actually baked a pie for the winner. He got to pick the flavour as well!
Speedruns tell nothing about the game, though they can be fun for the ones doing it. And this one is about double what Oblivion was, so that's good news.
Oh, and I love all the people comparing it to Dark Souls, forgetting that 1: It's a speedrun, and 2: Dark Souls is more of an action game than an RPG.

I can't decide whether to say 'Challenge Accepted' or not, hmm.
No I don't think I will, I've been waiting for this since Oblivion and I don't want to rush it.

RUINED FOREVAR LAWL

At least it's longer/harder to sequence break than Morrowind. There are videos of it being completed in 10 minutes.
