Ugh this is one of the worst DLC strategy imaginable. Piss off most of the people who would buy your shit by denying to them for 30 Days, or you know the 2 Days before someone cracks it and puts it on the PC.

I get that Microsoft has money but this is fucking stupid and they should know better; someone will crack it and put on the PC and if Bethesda already got money to deny it to PC users I won't feel at all guilty for accepting that as Microsoft paying for my copy as well ? and I'm avidly against pirating games under normal circumstances. We don't have to boycott or anything over this, but since all the PC gamers will already have the content by the time it's available I see no reason we should go out of our way to pay for it.

Feh. The amount of stuff that's in Skyrim anyway, I probably won't even NOTICE the DLC thing.

So now it's not even a "Hey guys, look what we made to augment your experience!" It's a "Hey guys, we purposely left shit out of our game so you could pay for it later! Give us your money, our cash pools are a tad low after we bought everyone here a yacht!"

Worst part is, I will still most likely purchase and play any Skyrim DLC.
If you read the full article, you will see that that is not the case, they stated that "they don't know" what it is going to be like, they just know that they want it to be bigger and expanion-esce ( so what if Xbox gets the expanion 2 weeks before the rest of us, I can still play the main game for 2 weeks in anticipation)

It is really not that big a deal IMO

Welp, there goes my desire to buy Skyrim.

Bethesda has just said that Microsoft's kickbacks are more important than my money as a customer, and therefore, they will not receive my money as a customer. Instead, I will buy any number of interesting products around that time that will treat my business as worth their time.

When a company takes a corporate bribe in order to deny me the chance to do business with them, then they have chosen not to do business with me. I will return the favor.

i am so fucking tired of MS and this DLC bullshit, every time a big new game comes along MS throws money at the dev for "exclusive content" in what has got to be one of the most immature displays of a superiority complex i've ever seen, and at the same time throwing a hissy fit over having to get content or games second, when it's perfectly ok for them to keep content on cross platform releases and bully devs into creating games with the lowest optimization by threatening to not let them onto their system if they even so much as release on the PS3 first. i mean jesus christ, why the fuck do they feel the need to do this? MS tries so desperately to make their console seem like the superior choice when all they do is screw over everyone else, and their own customers, and if they think they need to secure exclusive content just to keep people interested in their console then that says a lot about what they think of their customers.
You're getting angry at the wrong company here.

Yes, Microsoft is paying Bethesda to not do business with you. However, you are not a Microsoft customer in this avenue, so they owe you nothing.

No, the company you SHOULD, and rightfully be angry at, is Bethesda. Microsoft just offered them money. It's Bethesda who said 'Yes.'

It's like when your wife cheats on you. Sure, you're angry at the guy who slept with her, but really? She's the one who betrayed you.

Exactly what I was thinking. I agree completely.

I'm tired of Microsoft bribing publishers, it's become ridiculous and they're really getting in the way of progress.

You know what's worse?

The publisher got bought. It's NOT microsoft you should be mad at. It's the comnpany that is saying no to your business.

I'm betting that the 360 gets it first because of Microsoft's hissy fit policy where they stamp their foot and say "No!" if they don't get it first.
And it pays to throw money at someone to get the chance to be first.
One day I want a big AAA game to say no to their offer of 60 quazillion dollars just to hear what MS will say.

You know what, I still prefer the PS3 controller to the 360's, so I'm going to get this on PS3 both so that I get my favorite set of buttons and analogue sticks and as a big "fuck you" to this kind of marketing tactic.

No people should be angry at Microsoft, just angrier at Bethesda. Your analogy before about your wife cheating on you covers it perfectly. Your wife just betrayed you big time, but the guy who just fucked her knew she was married; neither party is free of guilt. Bethesda should not have accepted the bribe but Microsoft shouldn't have made it in the first place.

Either way, I'll just assume that because I am using a Microsoft Operating System that they we're just paying for my copy of the DLC

Yeah but Microsoft's not the one wanting my money. Bethesda is. Just not as much as they want Microsoft's. That's okay. There's other companies that do. Hey Valve....

You're right about that. Obviously the publisher has to take the money.

It's just the fact that Microsoft keep doing it, but I do acknowledge that for them to stop the publishers have to be the ones to stop giving into it...

Exactly.

And to console myself with the fact that I won't be buying, renting, stealing, or otherwise owning or playing Skyrim, I will simply remember it's a Bethesda game, and that it's going to be buggy and bloated as shit anyways, as that company cannot develop an engine to save their life.

Y'know Microsoft, PC and the 360 are both yours...
Well the PC part isn't, unless the developer uses their tools to build the game MS get's absolutely nothing from them.
And with 360 you can't put anything on it without MS getting their cut, and that is why they don't mind throwing money at developers to get their exclusives.
Certainly, that extra incentive for without-a-hitch turnaround is an important factor. I just don't understand the backwards "We're bringing back PC gaming! We love you guys" motions Microsoft tries to pass off, while at the same time pretending that the 360 is an only child. Although given their treatment of the Age of Empires franchise (as one example), perhaps it is more of them pretending that "PC Games" are... their little Damien. :p

30 days is pretty laughable given the game we're dealing with; it's not as though PS3 and PC players will be desperately bored within that time frame. If only could MS just save their money, swallow their pride for once, and invest a little in something that actually matters to people.

what's skyrim?

oh, you mean Scrolls: something or another right?

had to be done.

anyhoo, i guess it had to come out on something first, unless they deliberately hold it back for a multi release

OT: As I own a 360 and a computer not nearly good enough to run this, I'm kinda glad I'm getting DLC while missing out on all the awesome modding that will surely be happening in PC land.

Question is, what will PS3's be getting?
hopefully a toaster attachment, they already make enough heat and I've had a hankering for toast on the way out of my bedroom in the morning

It's probably been said somewhere in this thread already, but what's the big deal? Are the PS3 users honestly trying to tell me that they can't play a game that promises at least 300 hours of content for one more month before new content? PC users shouldn't even be complaining, what with mods and all that.

Also, the correct phrasing should be "PC/PS3 users get it after Xbox users". Bethesda will have the DLC finished by the time it releases on the Xbox and are delaying it for others. It's not like they're devoting development time exclusively to Xbox DLC then devoting a month worth of time to developing it on PC/PS3 (if they are, that seems like bad design practice).

The most plausible scenario in my mind is Bethesda makes content on the Xbox first and then ports it over to PC/PS3. So even when there is no third-party influencing decisions, Xbox content is still ready first. Then Microsoft comes along with their offer and Bethesda takes it because they know all that it involves doing is releasing the Xbox content as soon as it's done.

so, no horse armor for pc players? hah!
at least we will get nude mods, so tough luck you console peasants!

but to be honest - i think thats pretty..... stupid. i really dont know how to describe it in any other way. just - stupid.....

and i guess that they are pretty much pissed that dlc's dont sell so well on pc because.... well... why pay for dlc when you can get free mods? but that IS a dick move, and in long run, i think it will do them more harm than good.

No surprise here. Bethesda, you used to be cool, man. But now I just think of you as a sellout.
