i'd say the Tentacle Bear is more of Mimic, a creature that appears like a bear but is a predator waiting for something to get near... and BAM! tentacles take it & eat it!
...What? That's really strange. The game always paused for me. Plus the inventory was all on one screen. It wasn't a very good inventory system, but what you described doesn't sound like Morrowind...Byere said:I'm all for weird stuff. Sounds like fun. I just hope that they don't use Morrowind's terrible menu system. I had to open like 5 windows just to figure out how to use an iten from my inventory and the world never paused, so I was killed SO many times just trying to equip a weapon ready for combat...
Eh, someone'll mod it in.DustyDrB said:Shall we start a Tentacle Bear petition?
They'll probably put one in as an easter egg just like they did with Oblivion.canadamus_prime said:If I see ONE cliff racer Bethesda, someone over there is gonna be in for a world of hurt.
It was at a time when I was younger and probably didn't understand the game fully. Not to mention the copy I have is the "Gold Edition" that doesn't come with any manuals. I was probably doing it wrong but that experience put me off the game. I played it a bit but couldn't figure things like quests and such out (and for some reason I got a Jump spell and jumped half way across the landmass, only to go splat when I got to the floor...)kane.malakos said:...What? Heh, that was the scroll of Icarian Flight that you got from a dead man, the enchantment doesn't last long enough so your ability to survive the fall is gone before you hit the ground. Pretty genius on the Dev Team's part though wouldn't you say?Byere said:It was at a time when I was younger and probably didn't understand the game fully. to be fair, morrowind had some invisible walls too, but these were usually out in the middle of the ocean where no one went anywayRandV80 said:Well this is exactly what they need to do. With Oblivion they took what the felt was 'wrong' in Morrowind and really over compensated on it, leaving a lot of Morrowind fans unhappy. They need to take a few steps back and make everyone happy, much like they did with Fallout 3.
One thing I think often gets looked but should be naturally easier to do here is world map design and containment. Morrowind was far greater than Oblivion in this, but more by fluke of design than anything. In Oblivion you started with the capital city in the center, surrounded by a big lake, which left the world map to be very bowl like, taking up a huge portion of the explorable space and almost always being there in view when you turn around. Additionally, being the central country in the bigger continental map, they had little choice but to make use of the dreaded 'invisible border'. Morrowind on the other hand, you start on the corner of an island, with the entire map open to explore, up to the big volcano in the middle, with of course no invisible walls. The capital city was more or less just as big but was placed on the ocean and not taking up explorable landspace. Skyrim should work out fairly well too, we'll probably see a mix of ocean and impassable mountain borders to keep you naturall contained.
Though one thing I do worry about is if they'll apply the concept that sometimes less is better. For Morrowind I'm looking at the Dwemer Ruins or Daedric Temples, which were far better than Oblivion's Elvish Ruins (whatever they were called) and Chaos Gates simply because far fewer locations made each one more unique & rare, all the better when you actually stumble across one.
There was a Cliff Racer in Oblivion? Where?Radoh said:They'll probably put one in as an easter egg just like they did with Oblivion.canadamus_prime said:If I see ONE cliff racer Bethesda, someone over there is gonna be in for a world of hurt.
