1) The term gimping is a valid term, who'se the noob now?
Wikipedia has a page for Nerfing [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nerf_%28computer_gaming%29] in video games. There is not a page for gimp for it pertaining to video games (or pen and paper games), gimp is not even mentioned in the Wiki Nerf page either. Gimp is more used for someone who is gimped (which is derogatory term), for a S&M slave, or for the GIMP (basically free Photoshop). Nerf is really only known for Nerf toys or nerfing things in games.

3:05 - 3:10 You have 4 shots, using up about 5 seconds whereas if you'd looked down the scope properly you have killed the guy faster and used less ammunition, 4:13 - 4:18 is similar.

I'm not an avid player of modern warfare but I have played it online and this quick-scoping business seems ridiculous to me. While I realise this isn't the most realistic game in the world, sniping while running/jogging is beyond any shred of realism.

You asked us to leave comment of how bad the new quick-scoping is but I think the mere concept of quick-scoping is awful. If you want to run around shooting people in close-quarters then don't use a sniper rifle! All they've done is make sniping more realistic, not actually realistic mind you, simply more so. I dare say they have maps that lend themselves to the new sniping mechanic and if not then they will release them with a patch.

This is almost as good when Bungie tackled the glitchers a while back and brought their credits back down to 0, so they had to rank up again ^_^

Come on...who's with me? *Sit's back and reads the comments on the youtube video's while eating popcorn and drinking pepsi max*

To be honest, all your other arguments for quickscoping are mostly bullshit.

Although, there is one last part at the end of your post that completely redeems and validates your argument.

"Why should sniping adhere to real life while using an assault rifle and other guns don't adhere to real life?"
That pretty much sums up CoD and your argument for me and it's a completely normal argument.

for example, shotguns in CoD have a range of barely over a few feet, wheras in reality a normal 00 spread will have an effective range of easily over 50-70 metres.
Assault rifles (and all other guns) actually need to be aimed over distance and an assault rifle's spread doesn't magically change from a few centimetres at 10 metres when aiming to over a metre when firing from the hip.
So why should sniper rifles be constricted to things like this? As far as I can tell, quickscoping wasn't even that big of a deal in the last game, just a subculture of gamers who play that way.

Anyway, my incredibly tedious and dragged out point is, if no other gun in the game has to behave like the real world equivilant, why should sniper rifles?

For Balance maybe?

You have close range (shotguns, SMG's, Pistols)
Medium Range (Assault Rifle, SMG and Pistol if your lucky)
Long Range (Sniper and assault Rifle with the right attachments of course , Rocket Launcher)

Is that so bad?

Waiting for 2 seconds is camping?

God, I camp like a Boy Scout then!
no its not but if you camp its a lot easier to just stay zoomed in. instead of running around and quick scoping. the alternative is running around and keep your distance

I must be one of the few people out there who never bothered with quickscoping. Or sniper rifles, for that matter.

Only time I actually enjoyed sniping was in WaW.

can't really say that this is a TERRIBLE THING
sure it may be annoying for veteran COD players but it does kinda sound logical to have to aim for a sec or two with a sniper rifle before getting a across the map insta-kill

You're not the first one to b*tch about this. Personally it looks more like a real sniper now like it should be.

Erm good, quickscoping was broken in the first place because of auto-aim.

All this means is less faggots with their stupid "MLG iZxQwiK Sc0Peziiiiiiiiiix" machinimas.

Listen to this man, "Snipin's a good job mate."

Wait patiently and line up a shot.
