So, I finally uninstalled LoL from my computer.

Or crazy thought just not play ranked or go on reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends or anything and find some people you can play with. If you don't like the random "community" build one yourself like you should and organise custom games if you find it that bad as playing with randoms doesn't really mean community in any way shape or form.

As an aside I highly doubt it is just your team as to why you are in Silver and as far as shit coming from the community goes LoL is not bad that. I main Jungle/Support(sometimes switch with my friend) which supposedly get it the worst.

Also if you are quitting LoL because of dicks and idiots you may as well never try any popular game that requires non pre-communication and a team to actually function as a team because they are all like that.

I started in Silver V and worked my way up to Silver III in a matter of like 30 games... Stop blaming others. Ya some people cause you to lose the game but for the most part, you are in your division for a good reason.

As far as the community, I agree. It doesn't really bother me though because I'm good at not letting assholes bother me. FYI, I main jungle and they tend to get the most shit from their teammates. I advice everyone here who does not jungle to watch this video:

As an "older" gamer in my 30's, League of Legends is like your Pokemon cards to my Magic the Gathering cards. I know of its existence, I know lots of kids are playing it, and everything I hear about it further convinces me that I'm doing the right thing by avoiding it. :)

Now get off my lawn!
You, sir, are absolutely doing the right thing. LoL has the absolute worst community of any game I have ever had the misfortune of playing. Every 13-year-old and their brother has some vulgar comment about your play-style, mother, and level of experience. Hell, every player, regardless of age acts like that. I guess that's the price you pay with Free-to-Play games.

It's nothing to do with FTP. MOBAs, particularly DOTA, put you in the unusual position of being utterly at the mercy of your team's performance. Your own play can be completely heroic, and you can still be undercut by someone else's gaffe. Brings out the worst in people, alas.

Ayup.
I got a new computer, and never reinstalled LoL partly on account of shitheads...but mostly because my router hates LoL for completely unknown reasons. (I did not have this problem with any other game, or to this severity. It's so weird.)

The LoL community (pretty much every MOBA I've played, in fact) is full of shitheads, top to bottom.
At the bottom, you have stupid shitheads, and trolling shitheads who think throwing games is hilarious.
In the middle ranks, you have pretentious wannabe-pro shitheads.
At the top, you have condescending shitheads.

If you want to compete, prepare to deal with ENDLESS hordes of shitheads; you'll probably become a shithead yourself without even noticing.
If the stars align, you may find good teammates who will actually practice with you, and accept both success and failure somewhat objectively. Those people are the ones who break out of "ELO Hell".

On the other hand, if you aren't doing Ranked, and just play for the sake of playing, I won't judge (nor should anyone).
If it's for fun, it's for fun. "Professionalism" really has no place there.

I never installed this game to start with, heard about it, heard how horrible the community was...had no interest past that point. I can get yelled at by elitists in any game, why install a whole new one?

Can't blame you, dude. I've considered doing it more then once. Maybe come back after the community gets improved?

O.K.! Re-install it and give it a shot! I'd say that there's at least a 33% chance that the community has improved by now.
That was good. Thanks for the chuckle - I needed it :)

I love that video... Everyone rages at me for taxing, I will place this link at the end of the game.

Honestly, compared to 2 years ago, the amount of trolls, flamers and etc are in such a minority i can hardly believe it (particularly due to the tribunal) I've played quite alot of MOBAS and i can honestly say that the LoL community at its current point is by far and away one of the most well behaved ones that I've seen.

captcha: Hello World. Stay back sentient captcha, I know your game. I've got a magnet and I've not afraid to use it.
LOL. That dang Captcha man, it really is becoming sentient.

OT: I don't play ranked, I tend to stick in the normal queue. Too many jerks picking overly overpowered teams. Hey guys, I have an idea; instead of picking a character that requires skill and tact, and intuition; lets pick Darius, Blitz, and Xin Hao! There's no way we can lose unless they pick an even more unfair team!

That's my only real problem with LoL. Sure, there are the idiots who aren't that good at the game by the time they reach level 30, but so what? There's idiots at every level of the game.

That's the thing that bothers me actually. Sure tribunal did it's job getting rid of people who want to spam racist remarks and death threats and such. But now that they are gone guess who tribunal is going after? People who get reported over the pettiest crap I've ever seen. Not to mention the people who participate in tribunal are still very punish heavy to which last I checked we are back to an 80% on average punish rate.

Tribunal is flawed because it gives people power who shouldn't have that type of power.
Well firstly as someone that participates in the tribunal i kind of take offense to that considering i find i have an over 80% accuracy voting rating. And secondly and permanent punishments (such as perma bans) are ALWAYS reviewed by a riot employee, which means if you get perma banned, you deserved it. It's a common misconception that tribunal members have the final say and that they just spam punish, but most of us actually read all the case information, check the chat log, and look at all the matches provided. The fact of the matter is if you got punished by the tribunal, it is extremely likely that you deserved it.

I completely agree that MOBAs do that, but I still think that the F2P nature of the game contributes to the about of griefing and shit-talking that goes on. If anything, the two compound with each other to ensure an excess of horrible behavior. You have unrestricted access to the game with very little in the way of consequences should the Tribunal (or mods if it's not LoL) actually do anything. At least with a game you actually have to pay for, you have some more incentive to not be a complete tit.

What incentive? Unless it is a MMO or a Valve game you don't have any. If I go onto CoD 4 and I act like a racist biggot and hack on a server the worst that happens is I get banned and move on to another server. Mobas don't have a higher incidence of dickery than anything else just the people seem more extreme as I've never been told before that I should go get cancer for "taking" a carry's kill as the other carry.

I have a pic for this, uhhh...yes here!:

OT: I've wanted to get into it, but the community puts me off, even my friends who play it put me off. That and competitive games make me get a headache, I have no idea why.

Any chance we could get a clearer picture of the second image? I can't really read it.

*edit,
From what i CAN make out, he's claiming the reason he got banned was because he didn't follow the meta (the actual reason cannot be seen on these images because it is not his reform card) I find it EXTREMELY unlikely that this was the reason for his ban as Morello and other riot employees have stated MULTIPLE TIMES that a person will not be perma banned for going against the meta, much more likely, his teammates got pissed at him, and he sank to their level and got himself banned through continuing a flame war.

From what I can read, he's banned for the following reasons:

AP Hecamm Mid
Flora Mid
Randoming in a Ranked Match
FiddleSticks Bot Lane as Support without support items.

Plus it's also a Riot Employee which makes it..weirder.
