Odin Sphere I've heard about, but I already have one head-bending strategy game based somewhat on Norse mythology (Dept Heaven episode four). Other than that, only God Hand interests me that much, and since I live in Australia, getting a 160GB PS3 just for God Hand is a little out of my price (and effort) range.

I will still not be happy until Hogs Of War is ported to PSN.

Or re-made.

Or a sequel is made.

Or SOMETHING!

i have over 300 ps2 games, why don't sony let me play them on the ps3 without me having to rebuy them again.
A million times this.

I'm loving how everyone on the thread is going "wow, how nice of Sony to charge us for this stuff!" Seriously guys, where's your self-respect as consumers? Releasing HD versions of games is all well and good but the price should be £10 or whatever, not close the the price of brand new game!

As for emulators, there is no conceivable reason that Sony should stop us from playing classic PS2 games on the PS3. Instead of selling us games we already own, they should be making an emulator to allow us to play our old stuff. Hell, I'd even pay for a download of the emulator, as it is an extra feature. While they're at it, they could even re-skin and "HD-ify" old games, and sell the files as downloads that would run on top of your original game, perhaps at a couple of quid a pop. Stuff like that I would happily pay for, but new money for old rope is bullshit.
well that's good for you guys but most of us never got to play these games or own them for that matter so the majority of the gaming community will be happy
except for a couple of you who I'm assuming are /v/irgins and so you hate vidya
Um, what? Sorry, all I got from the first reading of your post was "herd-de-derp-derp"...

OK, well from what I gather is your first "point", the PS2 had some of the best sales records in gaming history. There are millions of copies of PS2 games floating about the world today, all of which are unplayable on PS3. Do you think that people who already bought and paid for these games at full retail prices when they came out should expect to have to do so again for the privilege of playing something they've already paid for? I don't.

Secondly, you'll note that I said that re-releasing games was "all well and good". That means I have nothing against it. What I have a problem with is charging close to full retail price for a minor update of a very old game. If we can't play our originals, it's only fair that they don't charge out the ass for us to regain access...

...actually fuck it, it's not. If people never owned the game originally then fine, offer it to them at a reasonable price, but give those that already paid for it the emulator the fucking PS3 community have been asking for since the beginning!

Finally, the fact that you decided to bring my virginity into the discussion kinda implicates hypocrisy. And "vidya" isn't even a word.
I'm not bringing your virginity into question /v/tard and as a 4chaner you would know what I mean

anyways how exactly is it that you propose Sony confirms people actually bought those games?

Wow, you're so cool... I must be a complete loser for not knowing what you were obscurely referencing!

Seriously dude, fuck 4chan. If you love it so much feel free to go back there.

Derp? Herp derp?

Seriously, I'm completely lost now. Disregarding the fact that Sony, like every games company, keeps detailed records of its sales, why does it need to confirm that people bought those games exactly?

Huh. I bought GrimGrimoire several years ago, but then my brother lost the fucking disc. The case is just on the other side of the room, though.

are you serious -__- I'm not going to keep this up after this one but dude even if Sony has the sales charts of every single game of the PS2 era it still doesn't say that Rick Jameson from Glendale, Arizona bought the game it just says how many units it sold.
Maybe they could implement a bar code entry system but that still wouldn't fix the issues some of us have which is, not still owning the original copy!
And do you really think Sony will charge $90 for Ring of Red which is what it normally sells for!

I still really can't see any point to your argument. All I've said is this:

1. Allow original owners to play their original games.

2. Allow people who don't own the original to buy it, but at a reasonable price.

What exactly does Sony have to gain from determining which people fall into which category?

how is $10 not a reasonable price? I paid $40 for God Hand just this June.

Me: Maybe you can add a little Persona 3 and 4 with that package, Sony?

*Slips Sony a ten dollar bill*

Sony: We'll think about it...
