If I was Nintendo and I say this, I would totally make a press release as soon as I could and just stand there laughing my ass off as I held up the article. Seriously good job Sony, bash Microsoft for less first party exclusives when your other competitor can put you in the exact same spot.
If I were Sony I could easily argue at least my exclusives weren't all based on 3 decade old franchises aimed at 8 year-olds.
Oh don't get me wrong, I completely agree I'm just saying its a bit childish for sony to call MS on first person exclusives when there is another company who has a lot more first person games (number not quality) wise.

This shit is honestly depressing. I have no interest whatsoever in ever owning a PS3 because it has a grand total of 2 games that I'd even remmotely play. TWO!!! That's just me though. they have a devout fan base and many techies swaying to get the most jam-packed system. most gamers will take the sacrifice of "quality" or "quantity" for the novelty. It's what original Xbox gamers (like me) did. It paid off for us with some of the greatest games of all time that could only have been done on that system. When Microsoft went more mainstream with the 360, I didn't want it. I waited and bided my time and eventually got a 360 elite and a bunch of fantastic games for practically nothing. some are available on PS3 now some still aren't but the Novelty of Slightly crisper lines and a Fancy-Schmancy Blu-Ray player doesn't interest me or my standard def TV. I'm not interested in wasting my money on something i dont need and don't benefit from until I have to. So Sony isn't for me, but it never was.

I played Sega, I played N64, I play Xbox. That's me. That's my niche. I'm cool with any of the games I've ever played being available for different systems. Fact is, if all games were made cross platform there would be a 90% drop in games, a 40% rise in quality and everyone but maybe nintendo would make money. I'd still say 360 would outsell PS3 in all areas the way it essentially does now. However, that's still my 2 cents worth. Now I think I'll serpentine out of this rediculous pissing contest before I get wet.

If the ps3 is going to 'overtake' the 360, why do you give a shit that 360 isn't playing nicely, mr. sony?
Paying third parties not to do business with your competition is a dick move even for the business world. Microsoft gets busted for this kind of stuff all the time in operating system and business software markets so it's no surprise at all.

Dear god. The obsession with exclusives is straight up fanboy talk. Really. I'm not going to go so far as to make a "Real Gamers Do This" argument, but if you feel compelled to buy one system and bank on it being the best, by all means... best of luck with that. You are going to miss out on a LOT of gems. You really have to own all the consoles to have an informed opinion. This isn't about making a bet or playing some imaginary stock market. It's about having fun.
lol how much free time do you have, man? I've got just PS3 and I can't even keep up with the good exclusives. A friend of mine (again just on PS3) buys the good multi-platform titles and has a backlog of games that grows by 1 a month give or take.
Not nearly enough, sir. I have my pile of shame, same as the next gamer. No, I can't keep up. The reason I miss out on a lot of gems is because I don't have the time. Honestly, that makes me happy. As the Chinese say "Have fish in the New Year." (It's a pun if that missed you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_New_Year#Cuisine )

Sounds like a fair point he's making although I would disagree that they have been going to valve with their money, considering Gabe Newell Said the PS3 was too much hassle to program for.

Console wars are so stupid. Play the system you enjoy and shut your big fucking mouth. It's funny though because Sony fanboys are the only ones that are REALLY loud. I almost never see other types. maybe because they're to busy enjoying their console instead of bitching like Sony fanboys. I wish this console war crap would end. But of course that's to much to ask for.

Didn't have the internet back then. All we had were magazines with editors to filter out the stupid.

This is what I was going to say.

Microsoft pays developers not to release their games on more than one platform because they know that those games would sell better on the PS3. That ends up just hurting gaming as a whole just to make themselves money. That IS greedy and stupid.

Pitiful how many people here missed this.
What drugs are you on because I want some!

Almost every multi-platform game sells more copies on the Xbox 360 than they do on the PS3. Just look at how many units of a blockbuster title like Modern Warfare 2 sold on the 360 versus how many on the PS3. And that's not taking into account the 360's larger install base, so in order for a non-exclusive title to sell more on the PS3 an owner would have to buy more than one copy. Plus you have the fact that brilliant Sony exclusive titles like Uncharted 2 don't even sell as well as 360 exclusive titles like Gears Of War 2.
You can't possibly believe that the reason Microsoft pay for exclusive titles is because they fear they will sell better on the PS3.

I don't know how you missed that.

In addition, almost any title that features solid multiplayer, if multi-platform and the gamers have a choice, I'd wager 8 out of 10 would choose the Xbox 360 version simply because Live is the better online experience, hands down.

Which goes back to one of my original gripes with Sony.. while they were busy touting the awesomeness of BLu-ray as the new format, Microsoft was touting Xbox Live as the premiere gateway to online fun. Xbox live is refined and polished to a shine which attracts GAMERS, you know, the people these consoles are targeted at in the first place. Blu-Ray for the most part caters to Videophiles who for some odd reason think that watching a movie 20 times in blu ray makes it somehow superior to watching it 20 times on a regular DVD. I just don't get that kind of enjoyment out of a movie... and I darn sure didnt buy my console to watch Pirates of the Caribbean again.

Sony needs to focus on what Gamers really want... GAMES. Not pissing contests. Not promises of greater things to come. Not Home. Not pretty movies. GAMES. And ways to play those GAMES ONLINE with your friends. Hell, even a really good Friend's list system would satisfy at this point.

I love my PS3 but man alive, I'm still waiting for improvements I was waiting for since launch.

Your first one broke, didn't it?

No, I'm not a Sony fanboy. I myself am an owner of 2 Xbox 360s (and a PS3 and a Wii)
No, my brother took one to collage but the HDMI port on my Xbox is broken

" you've got Peter Molyneux with his Fable stuff... "

Haha, sounds like their opinion of Fable is the same as mine.

Anyway, they seem to both be getting down and dirty with the trash-talk lately (more so than usual).
Definitions of fable on the Web:

* fabrication: a deliberately false or improbable account

Sounds about right if you listen to Peter Mollyneux talk about it.

Personally I enjoyed the first one, but that's where it ends for me. Well I guess I may be proved wrong with its third try.

Clearly you aren't looking at worldwide sales, just American ones.

The bigger picture tells a different story. Sony is doing a lot better overseas.

Hmm, it's a valid argument I guess, with each system's best (or most intriguing) games coming from in house publishers, but other then that it doesn't effect the market at a noteable level yet.

I'm just happy to hear that the PS3 is picking up speed, and upon further research, that it's doing damn fine indeed.

Basically Sony's bitching cos' Microsoft got smart and decided to take dibs on some big games.

It's called business. Sony of all people should know that.
