I play my friends PS3 and I owned both God of Wars.
Note, I said owned, past tense. Being that gas is about as expensive as theater food, I have to trade in old games every now and again for new ones.
Did I beat God of War 1? Yes. 2? No. Got about half way through and said fuck it.
Oh, and how clever, if I don't own a PS3 my opinion is dirt? Classy no? I don't personally own a PS3 yet having played one enough is still worth dirt! Grow up. That's the fuckhead type of argument that Dingo was spewing. 100%, anything less is failure. Way to go.
As for Sony's conference; I didn't watch E3, just the trailer's and demos from it.
Hey, I agree with you that Indigo's comment was crap (most of his are) that said, maybe you should drop the arguement it's becoming really hostile.

Just a question, how did this wind up as a console war? Just because this guy's from Sony?

Come on, people. Just drop it, it got old the moment fanboyism was invented.

Tretton's quote on "an industry having trouble focusing on today" is a bit ironic, considering part of his message last year was "just wait and see, give us a chance to show you what's coming". Still, he's right in that leaks in gaming companies is somewhat of an issue. I don't think privacy policies have quite caught up with the speed of the internet and how word travels fast from an idle IM, a tweet, or a video. Then there's the whole aspect of prioritizing your secrets. You almost want to think that a certain set of things you are fine with leaking can be put forth to a wider audience of your employees, while the truly "trade secrets" can be limited to a select few you can actually trust.

Understandably, the analog to what leaked for Sony doesn't quite work when it's a far-reaching project that tons of people are working on, but on the flipside of the coin, there was a certain amount of publicity garnered from the PSP-Go and The Last Guardian being leaked.

All that being said, I'd hate to be the guy Tretton found out leaked the goodies.

Wow, pleasant debate/conversation to bloodthirsty personal attacks and flaming to completely off topic.

Anyway, I agree that confidentiality is a problem in the industry, but at the same time I agree a little with Christian Ward on this one. If the industry was a little more open about the projects that don't matter, then maybe people would have an easier time being quiet about the stuff that does.

EDIT: Whoops, was thinking of the wrong article. Fixed.

A PS3 price drop is an inevitability. The only questions are when, and how much. While it may seem like a no-brainer, Sony must carefully plan out a price drop if it wants to get anywhere near its goal for profitability. Outspoken analyst Michael Pachter notes that Sony could lose $350 million of profits on a price cut of just $50 (accounting for 6-7 million systems sold after a reduction). While a cut to $299 would be far more palpable to gamers, that would cost the company at least twice as much -- would Sony want to incur those losses during a difficult financial market?
I highlighted the key word there and refer you to my story about Jack.

Actually? Yeah I did fool you. As I was not refering to you but saying "This is what Jack Tretton means bluntly" So... Yeah.

And I responded to you story aying that a raise in price on games/accessories would cause more bitching through the industry. and would in the end not be prophitable ESPECIALLY considering human nature, gamer nature and everything else.
Then I'm convinced it must be your English that is bad and not your business skills.

A) Say what you mean, mean what you say. Don't come back later to clarify that you actually meant something else. It's bad debate skills. You don't leave things (apparently) open for how it "should" have been read. You write it out and make your point clear. Otherwise you look like a fool when you have to keep re-explaining yourself, and lose all credibility.

B) /facepalm. If you sell more systems because of a price drop, you don't have to raise the price of games. I refer you again to simple math. If I don't buy a system at current price, Sony gets $0. If Sony sells me a system AND a game (you pretty much have to buy one unless you only care for the Blu-Ray portion) they have just made $510. I don't know the cost of the system out right, but from what he says, it would only hurt their (I say again) PROFITS and not cause them to actually lose money. When you lose money on something you are selling it for less that what it cost you to make, and that is not what he said would happen. So if they wish to keep going at current price because they are afraid to thin their pocketbooks a little on the sale of only the console(they wouldn't actually thin, I hope they are making far more than they can spend), then that is their own stupidity. They would make far more selling the console cheaper and having me buy all their games and accessories, than me not buying it at all.
