Sony: Nintendo Handhelds Aren't for Self-Respecting Adults

Edit: I have a query. Tretton says stupid shit and people generally whack at him, which is not really not much a crime as I see it. But when Reggie comes out to bloviate, everyone around here gives him a free pass, although I'd say what Reggie vomit out is usually five times stupider than most of these spin doctors.
Personally, I think it's a bit unfair for the title of the article to attribute the quote to "Sony" when it's just one mid-ranking toolbag shooting his mouth off.

And I (a Nintendo fanboy and proud of it, inasmuch as The Escapist defines "fanboy" as "anyone who likes anything I don't like") am one of the most vocal advocates of kicking Reggie out on his ear.

If by "self-respecting" he means "willing to spend $200 more on something that's functionally the same with a few extra bells and whistles", then he's absolutely correct.

I have had more fun with my DS than I ever did with my PSP. PSP doesn't have Pokemans, and I can't put in two games at once.

Also, I want a King Slime plush.

Well i love my DS so stfu.

It's no shock that he's going to bashing the competition, but it's a shame he feels the need to reinforce negative stereotypes about gamers at the same time.

Ugh, this shit again. Sony's method of constantly attacking the competition is tiresome and to be honest, is beginning to make them look like idiots. To misquote somewhat, build it and they will come. Stop trying to poke holes in your competitors and get your arses in gear.

What was Jack Tretton thinking when he went on this mad tirade? Not just happy with slagging off a console, he slags off the people who buy it. Way to alienate your user base.

Even having a dig at motion gaming, which Sony has just plundered head long into. He ought to be getting the sack soon, no?

Sure he's being a bit of a prick, but he isn't completely wrong.
The 3DS is undeniably more targeted at small children with both games that only small children could find enjoyable (Dora the Explorer which my niece always likes to play), and plenty of games which can be appreciated by both children and adults (most of the library).
While this isn't quite limiting it to ONLY children, it really doesn't have much that is targeted at an M audience.

Am I the only person that's more interested in that King Slime plushie in the background there, than I am in the actual story?
To be honest I'm more interested in the King Slime as well.
I've found a few on Ebay, but they aren't quite so mushy as that one, and they usually have big chubby cheeks but that one is surprisingly smooth cheeked. Mysterious...

Sony, the DS I have sat on my desk right next to my PS3 called. It said to shut the fuck up.

Of course Sony would say that. They'd stoop to any level to increase sales. they'd probably sell their own mothers to make a sales increase. I never thought they'd do direct attacks on Nintendo though, but hindsight i should have seen this coming. However the fact they've targetted a individual device means that device is doing something better than Sony's and they're trying desperatly to get it out of the picture by insulting peoples fragile self-esteem. Nintendo has never even attacked Sony before. Sony needs to get out of town.

Sony, u mad?

Yeah, you mad that Nintendo has murdered you basically.....every console generation except for the PS2, and annihilated all portable competition since the inception of the damn portable market.

Yes, because the PSP was so cutting edge and mature, right?

As an owner of both, I can say the DS is much more enjoyable and that the PSP was a flop. The DS, while a bit more kid friendly, was also more enjoyable. In the end, isn't that what really matters, your ability to have fun with it?

Man, that's hilarious. Twice I've heard about the NGP. I couldn't tell you anything about it. I'm an adult. I've been an adult for awhile. I hold myself to a modicum of self respect that quite a few of my peers do not. When I'm on the bus, or a plane, I have a portable system, and it plays games. The DS has been extremely comfortable in my hands, while the PSP's awkward shape and button positioning means I only use it for an hour or so at a time. I'm looking into a 3DS for the games, not because it will be targeted towards adults--speaking of, what does that even mean? It runs excel? It has an intrinsic "My Pr0n" folder? It has higher end graphics so detailed I can't see the difference on it's 4 inch screen? Does it have 5.1 surround sound coming from it's tiny set speaker?

Oh, wait, these are the guys that thought movies on a 4 inch screen was a good idea. You'll forgive me for being more inclined to buy a portable gaming platform for it's ability to play games, instead of shitty movies.
