Tretton: "Nintendo Systems Are For Kids!!!"
Me:*AHEM*

Your argument is now invalid.
9 bucks says it wasn't released outside of Japan or that it only sold 9 copies.
Haha, oh quite the contrary. It's actually hard to find in America because it's been selling so well.

Um sorry Sony, but fuck you, I like my DS. I'm 24. I've played my DS on an airplane and didn't feel at all self-conscious about it. So yeah fuck you.

Haha, I don't know about that. I was just playing Pokemon Pearl on my flight back a few months ago. It's fun, I don't really care if it doesn't have blood or super crazy graphics. It's relaxing and made the plane ride go by alot quicker.

(It's kind of funny that this guy is trying to decide what I would enjoy playing. I thought that was my choice? my mistake :p)

Cue Nintendo vs. Sony fanboy skirmish...

Edit: I have a query. Tretton says stupid shit and people generally whack at him, which is not really not much a crime as I see it. But when Reggie comes out to bloviate, everyone around here gives him a free pass, although I'd say what Reggie vomit out is usually five times stupider than most of these spin doctors.

Honestly, I probably answered this question with the original post.
We do? I've never heard people give Reggie a free pass. He gets bashed all the time. Though I don't recall him ever bashing a rival company this much. Really his foolish statements stem from exaggerating the qualities of Nintendo products and essentially ignoring the flaws (better online support? You're silly, we already have that!). Which is very irritating, but not nearly as much as this guy calling a bunch of people immature because they play with a handheld system from a different company.

But I really don't get where you got the idea that people don't mock Reggie.

Then when Nintendo retorts, and it's ok for them. It's Nintendo! /shrug. Corporate bashing.

Sony seems to think that people want better technology more than they do - eg a game system equivocal to the 360 that cost several hundred dollar more - why? because it had supposedly better graphics. I doubt that many people are going to be interested in the more expensive hardware just because you throw in extra gadgets like blu-ray - especially when the gadgets have nothing to do with gaming.

(context - not a Nintendo fanboy by any means - In fact I've pretty much given up on them as a gaming company since they've decided to give up on gamers as demographic base - realized if I wanted to continue playing video games I had to have one of the two other consoles - and I picked the 360 for the exact reason I just mentioned.)
You and I are of a kind... pretty much the exact same history. I was a Nintendo fanboy since the SNES, up to the Wii.

I remember reading about the interview that the Xbox and Wii can't compete for much longer. Now look where you are asshole. Sueing bedroom hackers, getting attacked by anonymous (please don't quote me about the politics behind this. I hope I've made my stance behind this stupid series of events quite clear.), and trying REALLY hard to steal the supposedly diminishing Nintendo audience with MOVE and handhelds.

I also hear that your free PSN network added a subscribe mode for all the shit the xbox used to have and you didn't. For someone who consistently refuses to acknowledge your very severe compitition, you're trying very hard to copy them.

Ah, to hell with you Sony. Don't insult me. Just because I found the DS superior in any way doesn't make me an ignorant man-child (I have many other reasons for that).

Rather than talk shit about your competitors perhaps you should just focus on releasing a superior product to win me over. Of course, after your insult, I'll be less inclined to try it.

Is it just me, or is it Sony who always seems to bash the competition?

You're absolutely right. Tretton is clearly an idiot, but at the same time I just can't stand Reggie. As far as Nintendo execs go, I could listen to Satoru Iwata all day (sure, his recent snipe at $1 smartphone gaming was a little OTT, but at the same time he does kinda have a point), but the moment Reggie steps onto a stage I turn off. He just reminds me of that kid at school that was totally up themselves despite nobody liking them.

He does have an good argument that Sony (generally) gives you more freedom with what you do with your handheld systems.

Unfortunately that business model hasn't gotten them that far. There's a reason it's damn hard to find a PDA anymore.

You want me to reinforce a subjective assessment with outside data? Holy shit...
... who said that you needed outside data?

But you stated:

"In the current economic climate, Nintendo releasing what will essentially become the "Virtual Boy II" is going to cripple them significantly, not only because the 3DS' failure opened the door for competitors, but it also tainted the Game Boy name which was a bullet Nintendo dodged with the VB."

Without any data (like low low sale numbers, X returns in y days.) I can't take such a comment serious. Or at least something that brought you to this decision... other an pure hate for Nintendo...
Whatever. The critical rejection of the 3DS seems pretty significant to me, and I'm not gonna factor in people who lined up on launch day to get the latest Pokemon reboot.
Umm... what rejection?

The PSP has some REALLY good games, and has slightly better graphics, but I'd give it up for Nintendos 3DS awesome throwback games, fun sequels, and games I could play for hours on end. I think Sony is waving around their dick a bit TOO much.

Sony. Thanks.

Thanks for saying that none of us has "self respect".

I can play my DS anywhere, thank you, and not be ridiculed.

Is it odd that I have a Wii, a PS3, a DS, and a PSP? Somehow I feel like they should explode if brought too close together with all the hate flying around.

You know what, if they had advertised better for the psp they wouldn't be in this boat.

And I am a self respecting twenty year old man who is happy to play my PINK DS in public. I find it to have more fun games.
