What the hell is 'premium' content?
The same stuff you need a gold account to get on XBLA likley- shiny new demo's, exsclusive wallpapers, etc.

Whenever a new demo or a new game comes out on XBLA, alot of times you need a gold account to download it for the first few weeks.
Paying for demos? That's almost as bad as paying for the avatar clothes on the 360.
I have never paid for a demo. Timed exclusivity is different from actually paying for it. And there's enough basic avatar clothing to never need to actually buy any unless you really want to and even then it's dirt cheap. This is my personal experience speaking and your mileage may vary. I don't necessarily agree with them charging for the avatar stuff either but there's lots of places online that do that so it's hard to fault them alone.
^ This, more or less. Sorry if I was unclear, the Gold exsclusivity is almost always timed- downloads become availible for silver members several weeks later.

I find I don't really care, as long as they continue to allow free access to all patches and demos. That's all I use the service for.

Isn't being free the only thing PSN really has over XBOX live?

I'm sure Sony is aware of this, but then again they thought that the PSP Go was also a good idea. So... yeah

If they start selling premium stuff for games that make people stronger and have an advantage over you like an item mall I will be pissed.

Speaking as a 360 owner who chafes a bit at having to pay for online gaming: Good luck, PS3 owners. I hope you don't get screwed. More specifically, I hope you don't have to pay for demos. That would suck.

Id rather them fix my ps3 that broke with their 3.10 update. 3.15 didnt do the job.

A friend, not even a mile down the road had a PS3 crap out when he installed 3.10 as well.

Im not giving them $149.99 to give me a halfass system they can charge me again for in 4-5 months when it breaks down because they put the same "used" diode in it they did the original system to begin with.

Another friends crapped out with a red error screen not even 3 weeks after buying it (80gb)

So ya, every single person I know personally, that has owned a ps3, has had to send it back/it quit working. I got one other friend thats getting one for Christmas, lets see how long Sonys new slimline ps3 lasts...(the one with a working blueray diode that doesnt crap out after a month.)

The PSP GO was so bad that you cant even make fun of it... dwarf a fuking psp and charge more for it because of a smaller redesign?

They've been doing stupid shit ever since they announced the PS3, almost every single thing has been complete lolz and failure.

...Sony is really biting on my nerves right now, and im about to the point of wishing the entire f'n game division to crumble to a pulp.

STOP MAKING STUPID DECISIONS!

All you have on board are a few good game devs, and theres no way id stay on a ship heading straight for an iceburg with a drunken idiot as the captain.

50% of Sonys Cell CPU brethren already dumped the sorry saps, virtually killing that whole Cell/take-over idea they were banking on with the PS3. (the main reason for its existence other than blueray)

The voice of reason.

I honestly believe this is some way to sucker the money tossing Xbox kiddies to come to the dark blue side. The only thing PS3 doesn't have is in-game music and Halo. It's going to be cheap since online gaming is "still going to be free."

Charging for the service will bring in customers. Right...

Kaz Hirai was quick to step in and caution that the subscriptions would be for premium content, and online gaming would still be free of charge.
Well, this last part's cooled off my rage. There's no way I'd be able to afford monthly subscriptions to play online. If its only for the premium content, I think I'll survive...

HA! Fine with me. I never used it in the first place, too unintuitive and boring. I prefer XBox Live which is actually WORTH paying for.

Flamebait much?
I was being honest. I hate PSN. Being free made it not fun.

At least you could still have player's dedicated servers. Oh wait..
Isn't that the developers job? I was under the impression that PSN requires dedicated servers from the developers of the game. 'Course, I could be wrong.

That may be so, but don't you think you could have phrased it better?
Ok. Playstation Network is not worth paying for if it doesn't change it's current unintuitive interface, something of which I have never had the patience or money to navigate in the first place.

X-Box Live does things direct, and larger than life. Everything is right where you would expect it to be and the satisfaction that comes when finding that what you were looking for is free anyway makes the experience all the more sweeter. Something I have never once encountered while mining away in PSN.

Everything has a price tag, and if you actually paid for everything you wanted in PSN you're already paying for more than you would monthly fees in the first place. The mere fact that they're still considering making it a pay-to-use service only reveals Sony to be the greedy, soulless bastards they truly are.

*feels somehow entirely immune as he plays his many computer games*

I am increasingly pleased with my hesitation to become a console gamer. These companies seem a little too prepared to bleed their customers via many knife holes in their respective backs.
