I'm gonna have to agree with several of the above posts. 12 hours? That's it? If he had some sort of pre-existing condition that was somehow exacerbated by the fatigue, sure. Otherwise, another Korean has died from something the rest of us have done fairly often. Seems odd. All I'm saying.

Sorry, connecting gaming to that is just bullshit, 12 hour gaming sessions are perfectly fine, hell even if you don't eat/drink anything you're gonna be fine, the human body can go 3 whole days without water.

Poor kid probably had a stroke or something, sadly it happens, I know of a kid who was 20 something years old that was perfectly healthy and just died in his sleep

Despite myself, I read the title and went, "Um,....that's it?" , even though I felt bad about it. Twelve hours is my new game release time (with standing, stretching breaks when I take the dogs out every hour or so), then it's nom-time, definitely a coffee, see if my husband is still alive, then back to frivolity. But I do feel bad, and wish he hadn't died. 19 years old? Geez, he had so much more life ahead of him. Some people need to manage their hobbies properly and not let it consume them entirely =/

Though I can't help but feel there is something else to this that we don't know about. I wish we had a lot more information about this kids history.

I'm sorry but I couldn't help it. You call him a moron for playing twelve hours straight after you had previously said "Ive played for like 14 hours straight." Yet you also call him a pussy. That the best you've got? My record is about 2 days, tho can't give an exact time as my memory of the end of it is rather hazy....

The point was, you dont die after 12 hours unless you're a complete dumbass xD And I try to limit extended periods of gaming cuz i dont want to fuck up my eyes too much .

I was about to stop with my comments against your first one but then I read this. He is a dumb ass because he died after twelve hours of gaming? I just * face palm* to this, it is not like he meant to die and how smart he is would have nothing to do with looking at a screen for twelve hours. As I will say down below, it is probably not playing games for twelve hours that killed him, it may be a contributing factor but I doubt it is what initially killed him although it may have assisted in his death.


Back to the topic: I will admit twelve hours isn't so bad. There have been people who have played a lot longer but I don't think just twelve hours of playing games triggered his death, it may have been a contributing factor but I doubt it is what killed him. He may have been really stressed recently as it said he was a nineteen year old college student, that is a hard age with all the big stuff happening at his school. So maybe too much stress had an adverse effect on his brain which may have helped kill him. I don't know, I'm not a doctor nor a psychologist this is just my opinions on the matter.

My sincere apologies and condolences to his family and friends.

Well hello Mr.Internet Hero. Its rather obvious that the guy who died was a moron. People have walked through scorching deserts for days without water and survived. So if you die from playing games for 12 hours, then you're either a moron or someone with a veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery frail body that shouldve been paying more attention to his own wellbeing alot more in the first place. So spare me your moral anecdote.

I've gamed for 20 hours straight longest.Had tons of cola in my system.
The computer destroyed my tank army in generals with a nuke - I got so angry I almost passed out.

Also , my sincere condolences to the family of the young man.
Still , this has happened before with people playing online.I can remember 2 WoW incidents just on the top of my head.The worst I heard was of 3 Thai teenagers who played counterstrike 120 hours straight until death.
