The prophecy has been fulfilled...
Prophecy?

Anyway, I'm kind of mixed. I can't call the original Space Jam a childhood staple or anything, but I do have fondness for it. So, when you consider the shift from 2D animation to CGI, plus that it's less about the Loony Tunes and more about every IP WB has under its belt (I've seen people compare it to Ready Player One, and it's a fair point), then, well...

Still, maybe the kids will like it like I did way back when.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Was the original Space Jam any good? I mean I remember watching it back in the day and it being pretty cringe.

Good...debatable. Entertaining, yes. This film is the epitome of American 90s basketball culture and being "hip". I have a somewhat soft spot for the film. Space Jam's album one of the most jamming soundtracks of the mid 90s. You don't know how many times I listened to that CD. My mom listened to it even more than us.

Good, no. Passable as a "dumb kid's movie"? Sure. It's nowhere near as bad as Baby Geniuses (which is not a high hurdle), but...I want to say a bit below A Kid in King Arthur's Court? Maybe around Air Bud tier (or maybe its sequels), or some of those Disney Channel Original Movies?

...I just painted a giant target on my back with those comparisons, didn't I?

Space Jam is leagues above all of those films. Especially Air Bud and its many unnecessary sequels. Baby Geniuses was dumb even I could only stomach it once. A Kid in King Arthur's Court I vaguely remember. I remember the preview more than the actual film. It was boring from what I recount.

No ones going to get that butt hurt over your comments. I've heard much worse.

Depends how much affection you had for late 90’s Loony Toons and Michael Jordan. If you liked both of those things it was fun to watch - and it’s soundtrack genuinely is baller as fuck - if maybe not an unassailable classic or even under appreciated gem like The Pagemaster.

If you weren’t interested in those things, it and it’s sequel are likely not for you.

The only thing I give a shit about when it comes to Space Jam is the memed up main theme. Love listening to it.

I never watched Space Jam as a kid. Never seemed very interesting to me. I'm pretty sure I had a sure I had a Space Jam alarm clock stuffed in a box somewhere for some reason, though. Never used it.

I think you would have to define "late 90's Loony Toons". I loved Loony Toons but as far as I know there wasn't a late 90s version with the original cast. There was Tiny Toons in the 90s which I remember being really good and Animaniacs that I also remember being really good and Freakazoid which was also really good. But, I'm not sure they are really 'Loony Toons.' Also, I really didn't care about basketball or sports in general in the 90s, or today either.

You have a somewhat interesting taste in movies. But I'm hardly one to judge those since I was the wrong age for them and I always preferred animation to live action, I think the first live action kinds movie I liked was Home Alone.

What about Lola's boobs though? I need those bunny tits in my kids movie, otherwise why would I watch it?

Also, does LeBron have crippling gambling debts, is that why he's in this movie?

That's what rule 34's purpose is for.

This isn't something as mundane as gambling debts. You're not dealing with the average NBA player anymore. This...is....destiny!

Naturally. I just felt that was a funnier way to acknowledge that people might disagree with the comparisons than the standard "YMMV".

*shrug* I would point out that I lumped all of the aforementioned films under the supercategory of "dumb kids movies". I saw a lot of movies while growing up, and not all of them were good.

You know watching that trailer it is just easter egg and corporate commercial porn. Like so many cameos it just hurts and makes for a fun "who is that game".

And I think I might change my stance on Pepe Le Pew. I didn't care that he was gone but that fact that WB axed Le Pew but the Droogs from A Clock Work orange have courtside seats.

Pepe Le Pew got done dirty.

Corey mentioned that in the video and has similar issues. You'll also see racists cowboys (I do not know which film he's referring to that refrrence) and Pennywise in their too. He mentioned them in the video too.

Like I mostly find it funny. Personally I respect the audacity of it all to the fullest extent and it makes want to watch it but damn I know they won't have a huge factor in the plot and are probably just there for the ending game but come on now.

Any other time this kind of reference in a kids movie puts a smile on my face but now its just gives me a annoyed confused look.
