Square-Enix Continues to Tease Gamers With Final Fantasy VII Remake

I like FFVII, but I'd much rather have Squeenix be working on an original game, even if it's just another sequel.
Why must they constantly tease us with this? Just say "yes, no, or I'm just an employee, why would I know?"
On the other hand, its actually a gloriously brilliant. If I were them, I would keep this going for twenty years just to see how long you can keep it up.

Okay, i would personally love this, VII was my beginning to gaming, at age 6. =P
So after getting around what in the hell i was doing, i loved it and still do.
A re-make of VIII would look absolutely stunning considering how they focused on cinematics and you can tell they really wanted facial expression for a lot of it. And i for one love that Junction system, once you got the hang of it, again, not something for a 6 year old.
IX skipped over me unfortunately and i never got to experience it properly.
X was amazing, X-2 was a shocking snatch at people's money and unresolved plotline from X.
And XII, while continuing with the 'switching battles around with every game' strategy, just didn't have as compelling a storyline, Vaan was whiney as hell, if you played as Balthier then that would've given a re-vitalised protagonist to the FF series, and i hated that gambit system. =P
Never played V or VI, which shames me..

Forget a remake, at this point I just want to see the PSN version patched to fix all the translation goofs. Because "touph" isn't a word. Because "Of course" should only have one F in of. Because in the battle with the guard scorpion, right near the beginning, Cloud's advice was mistranslated so as to say the OPPOSITE of what he meant.

So, while a remake would be nice, I'm more concerned with a small patch (easily sub-50MB) to fix errors like this, and maybe rename the spells to be more consistent with the current standard (e.g. Fira and Firaga instead of Fire2 and Fire3). If they did something simple like this, I'd be a lot less thirsty for a remake.

The changes I made are, adding a colon after cloud's name to make it clearer that he's talking, adding "if" in the second line, removing an apostrophe in the first possessive "its", replacing the second exclamation point with a comma.

I want an FFIX remake first, although the graphics are still very good.

I wish they'd just let FFVII DIE, already. Ugh.
Also: no remakes. Leave the grand old games as they are (even if it would make life a lot easier if I could play 'em on a current gen console.)

It says something about the current state of the gaming market that the most asked for game is a 14 year old remake.
If Squeeeeeeeeeeeeenix want to make a successful Final Fantasy then the only real option they have is to redo some of the old ones, the newer ones have just been going downhill. They might look nice, but if you were rolling down a nice looking hill in a nice looking car that was on fire (with nice looking flames), you're still in a bit of a jam.
FFVII was pretty good, but my favourite will still be IX. Yet if they were to remake any of the games I would rather see they do something with the earlier games, as in 1-6. Maybe don't make them technically pioneering games, but still make them up-to-date. That way you can replay all of the games without have to wait for several years for each one to be made but it would still be more interesting that firing up the original discs and having to essentially read the whole game.
