I'll watch it later, but didn't they actually cover the issue in the expanded canon? I actually remember it in a series of books about Han, which basically leads up to "A New Hope."

Han's former girlfriend of the time was one of the people who died to get the Death Star plans to the Rebel alliance.
That's true, but what does it have to do with the events depicted here?

2) wouldnt han have died when the AIR WAS SUCKED OUT OF THE CARGO BAY?
Not instantly, no.

Granted, I don't know how the actual science applies, but that particular situation happens in nearly every sci-fi series/film ever made at some point or another, and not dying instantly seems to be the standard, particularly when they're only in an area where the atmosphere is being rapidly sucked out, rather than being instantly exposed to hard vacuum (which I'd imagine would simply cause a person to explode or something).

The second part about Han's former relationship? Nothing at all. It was just a stream of conciousness on my part as I tried to recall the book in which Han had to dump the cargo, which is how he fell out of favor with Jabba, despite having been in excellent favor with him not long beforehand.

It's just that the two events happen in the same book (the relationship thing, and the Jabba thing), so... yeah. Like I said, stream of conciousness.

People keep on asking why the Empire would want Jar Jar, don't you see he is to be there new Imperial interrogator. Who could stand up to him? five minutes in a room with him without the ability to beat him to death would have me spilling all of my secrets if it meant i wouldn't have to listen to him any more

Why does everyone hate Jar-Jar so friggin much?! Granted, he talks stupid, and he's "not appropriate for the dramatic tone" of Star Wars, but he dosen't deserve to die or get frozen in carbonite just because he's annoying! What's next, killing people because you don't like how they look? For their skin color or for how they dress? Huh? HUH?!

/rant

Oh and by the way, regarding carbonite... i've always thought that Han Solo was the first "test subject" for that, to check out if the process is harmful in any way and then freeze Luke so he could be transported to the Emperor safely. Or at least that's what Expanded Universe says. Which means that Jar-Jar wouldn't be frozen that way before Episode V, because no-one would even have this idea in the first place.

And on a final note: it really sucks not being able to see 3D, now that everything's done in it.

Damn, that was better than all the prequels put together.
That isn't setting the bar terribly high, but I agree all the same.

EDIT: Holy shit...I did not see that ending coming.
Anyone else think that this actually felt like the original Star Wars?
I haven't felt that in a long time.
Sure did feel like proper Star Wars, with a little more humour though.

Buh-juh WHUH? Why'd Han shoot the droid without giving him a chance to shoot first? Damn, what a cold-hearted murderer that man is!

Anyway, that was, without need for exaggeration, one pretty damn awesome fanfilm. Nice animation, a good few callbacks to the original trilogy, and... well, THAT ENDING!
First point: It's a droid! regular memory-wipes = basic programming = no loss. It's a droid.

Second point: Agreed! Awesome fanfilm.

That was amazing. The voice acting was fantastic, it was funny (liked the whole gas-leak bit), and the ending was hilarious.

Why are tie fighter pilots SO terrible? I mean, you'd think that being part of a giant evil empire they'd have MORE training than "rebel scum".

Roughly this is the reason.

The EMPIRE WANTED JAR-JAR?! WHY!? who would!? BTW I enjoyed the prequel trilogy just wasn't the same that's all.
My guess? Jar-Jar was the boob who gave the speech to the Galactic Republic's Senate, in which he implored that the Senate should temporarily hand over it's power to Chancellor Palpatine during the War with the Confederacy. Maybe The Emperor wanted Jar-Jar as a keepsake?
"O and over here is the the worst being to enter the senate chamber, in-fact it works quite well as a warning to burglars also, if you enter you will become this dumb, now over here to the death kitchen."

The book was "Rebel Dawn". I read that series this past spring.

Well animated and everything, but I'm enough of a nerd to know that they've already explained why Han had to dump the cargo.

Moruth Doole, an associate of Jabba on Kessel, sold him out after developing an addiction to spice. It formed a fairly major plot point of the Jedi Academy Trilogy.

So yeah, I was thinking that maybe this was an animation of the actual canonic moment, but still, good show.

Heh pretty cool... the scene of fighter pilot incompetence is... star wars accurate but painfully cliched and nonsensical. Gotta love empire, when hans manuevering the space equivilant of a big rig through asteroids but imperial pilots can't manage to safely navigate it in miatas
