I always liked him, I would probably watch Dr. Who at least once if he did this. I thought it was slightly amusing that he played a character about as straight as his nose in V for Vendetta.
What's so amusing? He is gay, after all.
What? You mean that the guy who played Reaver, the most badass character in Fable 2, is a 'Friend of Dorothy'?

Oh Lord... this is almost as much of a revelation as the time Rob Halford came out.

I wish Stephen Fry would play the Doctor. Regardless I'm sure any involvement he would have with the show would be quite interesting.
Indeed - and he's just so awesome, he'll probably do a good job writting it. Though he would make a good doctor too, methinks ;)

Is a what? He's gay, if thats what you mean.

He's been out of the closet for a long time now, I think. I don't think it caused much comment though. Possibly due to his levels of awesome.

Why are you people all so shocked? It's been common knowledge for years...

Was he on Topgear? i might be confusing him with someone else.
You...don't know who Stephen Fry is? Seriously?
I do but he resembles the guy in British Top Gear. I wanna say he played the Guy who had the Kuran in V but im not 100% sure without going to IMDB
That was him, yeah.

I don't get to watch a lot of British media (or, really, any media, since I stopped watching TV) but I do like this guy, and quite frankly I think he'd make an awesome Doctor. Maybe not up to the level of Tom Baker (who, to this day, is still THE Doctor as far as I'm concerned) but I think they could do far worse.

If Stephen Fry wants to write for Doctor Who, you don't just say yes, you damn well go and get him a pen and a piece of paper.

I like QI... I like Stephen Fry... And I clearly like Doctor Who...

I would love it if he wrote for Doctor Who.

Marvellous news. Absolutely smashing, what.

Seriously though, if Fry writes for Doctor Who I hope the comedy doesn't become the objective of the show, or too strong an emphasis. It'd be better in my head if he had a cameo acting role.

Likewise what does it even matter? Always seemed like irrelevant info to me.

"Oh my lord! You have sex with other people?!? How on earth do you manage?"

Exactly! To tell the truth, I sometimes think myself weird for not being completely preoccupied with recreational procreation like mine fellow teenagemen.

Possibly the best news I've heard this year I just hope it can happen!

Incidentally he was the Minister of chance (another timelord) in an audio play with the 7th Doctor. The play itself wasn't too good and was so far non-canon you couldn't see it, but he was brilliant.

Oh my word, if David Tennant hadn't left, I would have exploded from the concentration of my man-crushes, and the pieces of me would explode if Simon Pegg got involved somehow, guest starring or *quivers* as a series regular.

Seriously, the man is one of my idols.
Smart, sophisticated, funny, quirky, mildly insane [footnote]Seriously, he has bipolar disorder, it isn't exactly "insane", but shut up, this is my post![/footnote],sexy has hell, a voice like warm honey and the paternal love I never got *cries*, There was nothing else on this list...
[HEADING=2]I ALREADY SAID IT! I'M NOT GAY![/HEADING]
Anyway, I'm liking the idea too, because Stephen Fry is exactly the sort of person who I would love writing Doctor Who, not that "Davies" thing that I think only 12 people (11 if you don't count his mum) had heard of until he did Woctor Dho /joke-rant.
[sub]Can someone count how many times I overused BBcode to "Get the right tone of voice"? I'm too lazy and busy crying in a corner for no apparent reason[/sub]

I heartily approve of a Stephen Fry/Doctor Who combination. That sounds like the sort of thing that would make brains melt out of sheer rainbow-shining awesome. I mean, it's Stephen Fry and Doctor Who. What could possibly end up wrong?
