My three would be...
1. Reload after EVERYTHING. Kill the target? Reload. Destroy a vehicle? Reload. Just blew off the leg of some space abomination, but its still lumbering towards you with its horrible instant-death claws of doom? RELOAD!
2. Never buy or use any consumable item. I'm saving those for a special occasion. Basically, I'm like the VGCats comic about Cloud. 'Cloud, I need a potion!' 'What? Do I look like I'm made of potions to you?' 'You know, Cloud, you could just cure RedXIII's father with a Soft.' 'What? Do I look like I'm made of Softs to you?' 'Cloud, we need a Phoenix Down to revive Aeris!' 'A Phoenix Down? Do I look like I'm made of Phoenix Downs?'
3. In any game that gives you a 'team' (RPGs, TBS, etc), I'll always pick a single character to use and not use anyone else unless the game forces me to, in which case, I will use them as little as humanly possible. (Example, I beat Final Fantasy VII using only Cloud. Had to get Meteorain just to beat Reno the first time. Stupid instant killing.)
