Pressing tab, q, shift and e for no reasons whatsoever.
Yeah, since two of my most played games (TF2 and Fallout 3) need those buttons to do anything, every game will have me hitting those buttons.

I have to check every room. EVERY ROOM. I might already be completely overloaded with equipment to the point of not being able to move, have full ammo for all of my weapons, have full health and a crapload of healthpacks, and tons of money, but I still have to check EVERY ROOM just so that I don't miss getting whatever cool thing may or may not be waiting for me there.
This. I tired going through the cult temple in dragon's age with only 20 inventory slots. Yet I still looked EVERYWHERE

I would jump onto the reloading team.. Gotta have a full clip! You never know what's behind the next door.
And this. Gun...must...be...at...full...AGH
I always try out sniping in any FPS. No matter how it's designed, I have to try to snipe at least once before moving on.
In ASII/Brotherhood, every archer had to die. EVERY SINGLE ONE. And I always had to have full items.
In strategy games, I work my opponent down to where they can do nothing, and build up a HUGE army just to wipe out a single standing building. I actually get sad when they surrender.
On most MechWarrior games, I do everything I can to max out armor. Unless it's an Urbanmech, in which case it is equipped with as many missiles as it can carry.
In sandbox games, I get to the highest point possible and jump off. Then, I max out an enemy attention rating and see how long I can last.
I go for the melee kill more times than I should...if only to save ammo
I hoard items. I won't use my 200 health potions, because a boss might be around the next corner. I won't throw a grenade at the ten soldiers, I could be fighting a tank soon.

I always loot every last crate, barrel, and sack in the Imperial city in Oblivion even though the best I've every gotten from it in any playthrough is a few grains of rice.

In 3D Zeldas, I roll everwhere I go. Roll out! Roll out!

More Oblivion: I collect mementos (like Mother's head) and decorate a safehouse room with them.

I'm a massive hoarder, collector and saver.

As for the reloading: I'm perfectly confident walking around in games like CS:S with an AK, 10 bullets left in the mag.

In horror games I always close doors behind me. If a door is open, it wasn't me who opened it.
This really freaked me out in the game Condemned Criminal Origins as there is a door scripted to open itself. I kept coming back to the room to find it open. So I close it and wait in the corner expecting a mob or something to make rounds through. It opens by itself and I hear something like, "I prefer it open" whispered.

i search EVERYWHERE. If a take road A and it takes more than 3 rooms away from route B and C i have to turn around and check those out first, there may be a clip of ammo i will never need because i don't use the weapon but i just have to have it.
also compulsive reloading
and in stealth games i save, clean a whole room of enemies and if the last guy spots me a nanosecond before i take him out i rage-quickload and have to do the whole thing again because for some reason i don't save when things go well.
while i tend to be an indifferent asshole towards the vast majority of RPG-population i can't help but be nice to my companions, even the weird ones i wouldn't invite to a party. On that note: i would much rather have a party of characters i like than based on their skillset, even if that mean my party will lack a certain skill

Potions.
Well, potions and the like.
If there's an item that might come in handy later, I'll save it for forever.
Even if the time comes that the item would actually be useful, I won't use it, because it might come in handier later.

Also, if the arrow says to go right, I go left.

I talk to the game characters. I tell them everything i want to say to them that my character is too mute to say him or herself.

Especially in Phantasy Star Portable 2. The inability to ***** out partner characters in that game is sadly lacking.

I restart from checkpoints every time I feel as if I didn't do a section of the game well enough; I took too much damage, wasted too much ammo etc. If I can't restart from checkpoints, force suicide.

I hated selling weapons in games like fallout.
I would zealously collect and store every gun i found....

RELOADING.
I die all the time reloading compulsively.

In Bioshock 2 (this isn't really breaking the game) whenever I would recieve a present from the little sisters that was accompanied with a jar of fireflies, I MUST break the jar and free the fireflies.

I always have to check whether or not that guy who looks to be able to crunch me with a thumb, might be killable by me... eg. Lu Bu...

In Return to Castle Wolfenstein at the end of a level I had to knife or kick anything breakable to find those secret areas, and in any RTS I will stop everything just to make sure the units are facing the right way or my gatherers animations were synced

For me, It is more of not following directions in funny way. I.e. In black ops, on the Bakinour level, where you just walk through a bunch of security guards, Woods says, "Be inconspicuous." I immediately frown at the screen, and then begin hopping everywhere like a bunny.

I.e.2. Escort mission in GTA, "protect so and so." I start throwing grenades everywhere, then max out the stars. My success rate is something like 3/10^56.
