If you were going to Antarctica you had to wear suction cups on your feet or you'd fall into space. Also that the world was a hollow sphere of water and when you were under the ocean, you were inside the Earth. Both at age 4. I also wanted to be a tiger when I grew up.
Good sir, don't give up on your dreams yet! I have something that is likely of great interest to you!

I used to believe a lot of shit. I'm very gullible. But even as a kid, I found the idea of god to be ridiculous. Like, to the point where I, under a sermon, stood up on a pew (I was 6) and asked to priest to please shut up - more or less in those exact words. Dead silence, no sound except for grandpa's bellowing laugh. Good times.

I used to think that credit cards were basically free money. Although, in fairness, credit cards are pretty damn complicated, and I'm sure most adults don't really understand how they work, which is a bit scary considering how many of these people probably use them on a regular basis.
It's more complicated than "Buy now, pay later."? And before you ask, Yes, I have a credit card, and yes, I pay it off every month. It's much more convenient than carrying lots of cash when I go out.

As for me:
I used to think that actors actually died when they died in movies and tv shows. I didn't watch much TV back than so I never saw two actors on the same shows (or if I did they didn't die in the show). Made horror movies very hard to watch.

Other than that I have nothing new to add to this thread.

I used to believe that certain places on Earth didn't exists, like New Caledonia and Sascatchewan, because they we in adventure books and you're not supposed to believe anything that's in those kind of books.

On a similar train of thought, until I was 7 I thought that cats were girls and dogs were boys. I'm not sure why.

I had a bunch of stuffed animals. I acted like they were all alive and real people (can't remember if I believed it or not). Since my parents didn't try to debunk me, I thought they believed it too.

Years later, I thought I was a ladies man. Peh! Stupid.

Ditto. I remember from the last one of these threads that this thing seems to be surprisingly common. Around the same age I thought that some dude dressed as Obi-Wan Kenobi at Legoland was the actual Obi-Wan Kenobi (as in I thought he was the actual character who somehow existed in our dimension and not just Ewan McGregor) and that having beaten him in a little sparring contest with plastic Lightsabers meant that I was the superior Jedi. I know it's dumb, but to be fair I was only 17 at the time, so cut me some slack.

Was he made of lego? That would have been a bit of a giveaway

That horses lived on a diet of apples.

That pictures were watching me, so I would turn them around if I could.

I use to eat the whole fruit, so my mother told me that if I consumed too many fruit seeds, a tree would grow in my stomach and out of my mouth. I had my doubts about that one, but, it was still weird enough to make me worried about it.

I thought if anyone touched my belly-button too much that it would unravel and my guts would spill out. That's one of my weirder ones, and I still get really weirded out by it.

I also thought that as long as the animals were cute and fuzzy and had four legs with paws, they could breed together and make me other awesome species of pets. Like a buncat or a cag (cat and dog). I wanted a cag so badly.

I used to think that you could only marry someone if you'd met them by coincidence on two separate occasions. For ages I was worried this would never happen to me.

1. Monsters - I loved reading about monsters (still do) but I thought they were real. Fun times.

2. Santa Claus - Believing in a nigh omniscient patriarch who punishes you for being naughty and rewards you for being nice. Silly parents, that's not a good way to get your children to act good.

3. The Christian God - Believing in a nigh omniscient patriarch who punishes you for being naughty and rewards you for being nice. Silly parents, that's not a good way to get your children to act good.
All of these. Funnily enough, I stopped believing in all three of them at the same time. I was nine when I realized there was no Santa but then I realized that the other two were just as far fetched. Especially the idea of God being a good person.

I also used to believe that all adults were smart and mature. I didn't realize that I was wrong about this until I was about 13. Ya, I was a pretty naive kid.

When I was extremely young, I truly believed that the moon was made of cheese and that when it was a new moon, it meant the giant sky mouse had finished eating it. Then it would slowly regrow.

I thought your belly button was easy to break and was terrified that if I get poked there, my stomach would burst open. It's still uncomfortable to be poked in my belly button. .__.

I also thought homosexuality was a choice. Lol.

*slow clap*

Congratulations - we got a whole 0 posts without unnecessary sectarianism -.-
I was under the impression I put one hell of a lot of thought into what I accept as reality.
But I guess you do know more about me than I do.

This was when I was really young, like around 4 or maybe younger, but I used to think that I was the only one who saw in first person.

Were you really 17 or is that a typo?

Hmmm... what did i believe in....

- My brother used to believe that if you opened all the car doors, it would fly.

- I used to believe that to give birth, doctors would cut the mother's stomach open in surgery (i learned the truth from some kids my father knew, go midly annoyed with my mom for not telling me this)

- You got pregnant by kissing (When my friend told me how babies were born, i watched a video with him about it where it showed two little cartoon creatures connecting to create the baby, this looked like it went through the mouth. That made me believe for a while that when you were kissing, you'd feel a little worm like creature go into the girls mouth)

- I was originally an Athiest for most of my life until my mother went completely conspiracy theory crazy and pushed her beliefs into my gullible brain. I pushed all those beliefs and ideas out a few years later once i started realising how crazy some of the things she was saying were and i now ignore controversal topics she brings up today.

- That my family was rich.

- That my mother was nice (I think all the conspiracies she believes in made her really stubborn and intolerant, i also think it's the reason why she divorced)

That got dark quick.

It was a joke dude. I honestly didn't think people would take that at face value. XD I think I would have been about 5/6 when I bought into the whole world used to be black and white thing and with the Obi-Wan encounter I...christ, I guess must have been 7...that's still actually a pretty embarrassing age to be incapable of setting apart reality and fiction. XD

[Insert rimshot here] Heh, I think even as stupid as I was back then I probably picked up on the fact that he'd be suspiciously a hell of a lot less nimble then he was in the film.
