Stupidest reason to shoot down a game

It takes alot for me to shoot down a game. However, if the game hands me the gun itself, I won't pass up on giving it some lead.
Two games comes to mind: Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, and Deus Ex: Invisible War. Both games didn't last longer than essentially the main menu before just giving up the ghost do to glitches and extra-ordinarly slow rendering, rendering the game unsurvivable.
Other that that... give me any game I can run, and I'll enjoy it as much as I can.

Because you "Didn't understand it." It's reasonable if it's like Alan Wake, and you have about no understanding of what just happened, saying you don't understand Silent Hill 2 makes you seem like a moron because the answer is flat out given to you.
FAR too many to count, but my favorite is: the graphics suck, often brought up when there a game dares to remind us that colors other then grey, brown and muzzle flash exist. This line is usually followed by me shoving a verbal foot up his/her ass. I mean I can accept alot of reasons to not buy a game, but that shit will not fly with me.

What gets to me is usually graphics. I tend to praise some games a lot and then recommend them, only to find that the next day my friends are pissed that the graphics aren't very good. I have some more open-minded friends, but they're not many. Thank god that consoles don't rule here. Most people are PC gamers here. Phew!

Good point. Although you could argue that Sim games are an exemption to the argument "If you want realism then go do the real thing." Because a lot of the time with Sim games you really cannot do that stuff, either it would require a huge amount of time and effort and is virtually impossible or there's a serious risk of injury doing it in real life (car racing sims, for instance.)Timzilla said:

"ALL YOU DO IS SHOOT SHIT!"
It seems a pretty petty complaint considering the game doesn't hide the fact that it is a First person SHOOTER and then therefore there is plenty of SHOOTING. At the time I had assumed that this meant he just didn't like shooter games and I was prepared to let it slide.
But then later I caught him playing Call of Duty and enjoying it so clearly he has no bias against shooting games, so I'm mystified by his complaints. Truly.
If he had just said he didn't like Halo in particular that would have been fine but he ranted in a way that I would expect meant he hated all shooter games and so to then see him playing one without any complaint just baffles me.

Someone told me that they hated red dead redemption because the graphics aren't amazing and that 1 or 2 missions you have to herd cows...

OP: My friend didn't get the orange box because "he already had Portal". I mean...what? The Portal is good but Half Life 2 + Episodes and Team Fortress 2 are more than worth £16.

For me the biggest bullshit excuse to hate a game is when it exceeds at something that was intended to be. I.E. Horror games are "too scary" massive combat blood spewing action is "too violent" and other such just make me rage.
Lack of characterization.
I've heard this one said many a time about one game in particular, half life 2, and it's all because Gordon Freeman doesn't talk *Gasp*. Really? Fun gameplay, unique world, characters that more than make up for this and you shoot down half life 2 because Gordon Freeman doesn't have strong motives (Or more chiefly) talk? So what if I might as well be a floating pair of hands, Gordon Freeman is one of the most recognisable characters of gaming and there are many protagonists that don't talk in games (Most RPG's, Bioshock, system shock 2, portal) and if he were to speak I can guarantee the game would not have been better if we had to hear Mr Freeman make a smart-ass quip every time he blew things up or grumble like a badass whenever Dr Breen threatened Alyx Vance.
Oh yes and a friend of mine thought Alan Wake needed multiplayer and didn't buy it because of that one reason.
