Vfraar was nearing the Captain's quarters, having already gone through the guarded security layer surrounding it and the bridge, when the launch sirens went off. Glancing at the schedule that appeared before him, he frowned slightly. They were half an hour early. Not that he was complaining, of course, as all the personnel and supplies had already been loaded, but he usually made sure that he had a good view, as he liked to watch the maiden launch of any voyage he was part of. It was a sentimental habit that he had kept since the very first time he left his home planet.
Glancing around, Vfraar quickly spied a small viewing port, and hurriedly walked up to it, just in time to watch the ship begin drifting away from the docking bay. Outside, workers would be scattering away from the station, to avoid being cooked as the massive ship's turbines raored to life. There was a tiny, odd sensation, felt throughout the body but mostly in the feet and head, as the artificial gravity set in. Then, without even a bump, everything recognizable outside the window vanished as the Great White entered warp.
"Combat Commander Vfraar, please report to my quarters." Zeredare's voice said over the intercom. Vfraar sighed, gazing out into the inky black void for a few more seconds, then turned and resumed his trek to the Captain's quarters. Back to business.
When he got there about a minute later, he showed his ID to the guards at the door. It was always annoying at the beginning of a trip, having to get passed guards who didn't recognize you yet. Hopefully before too long they'd come to know him better and he wouldn't have to put up with all these security precautions. Surely, the Captain could take care of himself.
One of the guards keyed the visitor signal. "CC Vfraar here to see you, Captain."
