Why can't we have rts on consoles? I remember playing Unreal Tournament 3 on ps3 with a keyboard and mouse. A cheap setup is similar to the cost of a controller. Somebody needs to show the new generation how great these games can be, instead of pouring old IPs into the current mold.

Well, we can thank the brownshooter broforce fratboy crowd for this one. They're old enough to remember Syndicate, but couldn't operate a computer running MS-DOS. Or anything before XP for that matter. The squeaker teen crowd is pro FPS as well, but can't be blamed. They have no idea what we are talking about.

As long as they are at it, I'm sure they're in the mood for:

Masters of Orion the FPS
Populous the FPS
Total Annihilation the FPS
First Person Dragon's Lair Re-Boot

As long as they are brown enough.

I perfectly understand people being upset about this one because of the genre change.... but the majority of escapists here are console gamers. Why don't you guys understand that Consoles WON'T have over-the-top squad based strategy games. It's just NOT going to happen. Just get the fuck over it.

Alternatively if this was a PC exclusive: (which no big developer will make nowaydays anyway) A)it would undersell like dogshit. B)The majority of people here will whine about not being able to play it! It's a lose-lose situation.

Hence it's either THIS Syndicate or NO Syndicate. Choose.

Ok as others have pointed out you COULD have made a fairly decent Syndicate FPS - but they won't. As a tactical squad based game - hell I'd have brought it. At least it was an old IP they COULD make into a shooter done right - unlike Xcom, whoever though up that 'idea' I hope he earns his just rewards - and that includes being fired and black-balled from any development meetings/brainstorming - ever

With the right care this could have been a viable reboot. Even a good one.

But sadly - again it won't - At best we'll have a bastardized Deux Ex, at worst I shudder to think.

I remember syndicate wars on the ps1 enjoyed it too beat the whole thing pitty we wont get another game like it maybe they will include the original games on the disc as a bonus?.

For the best, they wouldn't make a sequel, they'll reboot it and make it cover based, iron sighted regenerating health fps with another gimmick tacked on, probably a SHODAN dating sim.
They'll make it multiplayer centric, so the isolated atmosphere is gone, and your character will be a wisecracking bald space marine voiced by Nathan Fillion or Ron Perlman, who cracks wise more often than Douk Nouk'm.

Because that's what sells.

Brand recognition people. A game with a name people will recognise will sell better than a brand new IP. If you want evidence of this, look at all the original games that are brought out, get rave reviews from the critics, but crash and burn in the sales charts.

I don't know why it always surprises people when companies do this. It's the same reason games with completely unrelated stories and characters will retain a franchised name. For example, look at Final Fantasy: different characters each game, no over-arching story. Very little, in fact, to tie the games together. Yet they are still called Final Fantasy, because if they came up with a new name each time, they wouldn't sell nearly as well.

I'm a lot more willing to see how Syndicate turns out as an FPS than XCOM.
