Take Your First Look at Soul Calibur V

Apparently my first post was too short and I got a reprimand for it. So this is me elaborating on the last post:
Once apon a time a game trailer came out for SC:V, other than showing awesome fighting moves or ppls faces getting imploded we saw a book and heard some silly narrative.

after four years,I'm gonna play a more simple version of an already simplistic fighting game with more of a focus on a story that will feature cutscenes with horrendous dubbing & endless exposition or still pictures with overly wordy text &, to add more icing on the weeaboo cake, have metrosexual 17 year old protagonist who will annoy the crap out of you with his teenage angst?

Well done Namco, you've certainly proved your gonna make great strides with SCV.

SCIV was probably the best fighting game to come out in ten years. Not sure why people are hating on it...

Eh... I much prefered SCIII to IV.

I'm glad that they're saying that they are trying to make the gameplay more continuous. I'm really hoping that means bringing back the speed that III had.

I'm also hoping for no ridiculous cross-over characters. They seemed to have stuck to having those on even numbers though, so maybe we won't see any.

And I'm bitter at SCIII for changing Talim from SCII. She was my main and I never did get the hang of her combos in III. She became a little too unwieldy and I tend to get ringed out on my own by way of a nasty jump.

None of the characters I actually like made it into the trailer. Still excited though.

Edit: A 17 year timeskip? Wont most of the cast have died of old age by then?

Well, they didn't die by continous stabbing so, who knows?

I hope the new cast is good. The veterans were great but five consecutive games with the same faces have tired the franchise to me.

I'm willing to bet the timeskip will be just a lame excuse to give adult!Amy and adult!Talim D-cups.

Its too much of a time skip just to make there lolitias big girls, considering they'd be *gasp* OVER 30! Yeah Soul Caliber doesn't like girls in their 30's, if there still in it, (which would be nice because I like using Talim) its not for sex appeal.

Well, Amy is kind of a vampire. So she will be the same when she is over 30. Except, well, legal...

Unfortunate implications, yeah.

That aside I don't mind some games having fanservice. I like it. What I wouldn't like is if all the games had it. It would be like having porn in all movies.

meh, they need to bring back SC2 for me to be interested.

SC2 had the perfect balance of characters. My three main characters were Mitsurugi, Seung Mina and Taki. Taki's the only one who hasn't been ruined by a moveset change. Let's hope this one isn't the nail in her coffin...

Scantily clad woman? Sir, I'm afraid you've gravely underestimated the series which you are referring too. There will be quite a lot more than a single scantily clad woman. There will, in fact, be many.

I'm going to say the same thing as what I said on the other two SC5 threads.

Mitsurugi or GTFO, I hope the series grows more mature and clothes their women, thus eliminating the need for hypersensitive jiggle physics. I think the advancement in time has the potential to be a great change, and a fresh start, but things need to be fixed.

Soul Caliber II was the greatest fighting game in the history of ever.

I beg that this game brings back the glory days.

Well that was terrible lip syncing. I do like Soul Caliber though, less for the story and more for the actual fighting which I like alot more than Street Fighter, Tekken etc.

The lyp synching isnt bad. Its just not there. They just dubbed the voices, but left the mouths with the origional japanese animations. If they were speaking Japanese, it would fit.

No more crossover characters please. They just don't fit in the cluster fuck they call the Soulcalibur universe.

Bit nervous about the 17 year time skip, also that new guy looks like a total douche with bad hair. I'm already compelled to hate him.

Hopefully Hilde and Sophitia are back, although the 17 year jump makes Sophitia seem unlikely. I'd also really like to see Kamikirimusi from SC4 get her own move set.

I'd like to see the story mode thing from SC2 back, and the create a character function without the stupid stat bonuses on gear. Also the clothing destroying deal was fucking stupid.

Technically Kami is a crossover character too. That group of characters were made by manga artists for the game. While maybe Ashlotte could come back, the others were kinda tacked on.
But they do fit better than....Yoda...

Now assuming Taki has ninja magic that can keep her from aging, then everything will be hunky doory ^_^

Considering Ivy's shrinking costume over the series, in this incarnation she'll only be wearing nipple tassles and a g-string. Although considering the time gap, that could be a very bad thing.

It seems like a very slim chance, but I really want the Chronicles of the Sword mode to come back. That was one of the best things about Soul Calibur 3.
I'd also like to see the interactive cutscenes and an actual story mode return to single player in SC5. SC4's story mode was just disappointing :\
Not too bothered about online multiplayer though. Getting 1-move spammed by people in another continent isn't as fun as it's all cracked up to be.

Being a hardcore Soul Calibur fan, I am looking forwad to this, though I have to admit, I haven't played much of either SC III or IV.
I wish they would bring back the weapon-breaking mechanic from Soul Edge (the original), though.

I cackled over the terrible lip-synching. Really, really awful. And man, does that dude look like a butch crazy or what?!

I own a couple of Soul Calibur games, but I'm the worst sort of casual player. I enjoy the pretty or sexy girls beating the stuffing out of everyone with interesting and creative moves but I also get bored pretty quickly.

So this trailer got seventeen thumbs-down from me. Ugly/crazy dude and an opening line we've heard over and over? Pfft, waste of time. Lemme see the lineup of chicks and their crazy costumes/weapons please!

(Also: Soul Calibur has a story? Like, a real one? Not just 'Mr X wanted the sword so he punched people until he got it'? I may have to wiki it.)

Is it Tira? I liked that chick. I hope she comes back. She was the good sort of crazy.
