Sorry but you can't refute my argument with name calling. Try again next time, with actual facts.
You first need an actual argument for me to refute.

Just hand-waving the public abuse and shaming of these girls is just as bad as saying "Rape victims deserve it for dressing like they are asking for it." In other words, asinine and sexist.

Arresting someone for calling people names is immensely pathetic.

Getting offended is also immensely pathetic.

Is he an idiot? Yes. Did he deserve punishment by the school? Yes. Does he deserve punishment by the law? I would say no. Lets face it guys we all rank the girls we know based on their appearance in one way or another, either alone or with our friends. This idiot was just stupid enough to post his online and hand out copies at school. He was arrested for disorderly conduct so I got to ask, when the school officials stopped him did he put up any kind of fight? If yes I understand how he could get arrested for disorderly conduct, if no then this is just stupid to get the police involved.

I'm trying to imagine what this chap looks like, and all I'm getting is half-formed six-pack and a anxious-looking penis sitting atop a neck. He deserved to get arrested, anyway.

To people saying he didn't break the law, I think this could count as libel (written slander) since he supposedly posted things about their sexual habits that (presumably) weren't true
Libel is not a criminal act. It's tortuous (can Sue) but there also needs to be damages in most cases.

You could argue it caused harm to their schoolwork perhaps. But ether way, it's not criminal. Obnoxious, deserving of a good thumping and expulsion, sure, but not illegal.
I never said he should have been arrested, Libel is breaking the law, but it's a civil court matter.

Jail seems to be a little too much but then again I like it when dumb high school kids get in trouble for the dumb things they do. And if we're lucky he'll come out of jail being less of an ass.
The U.S. prison system generally makes people worse not better. And the juvenile system is just as bad - if not worse; it's like a boot-camp for budding criminals.

If their names and photos were exposed en masse, then I understand why he's facing some consequences. But it's still a matter of little other then privacy.

This sort of speculation happens to Hollywood stars all the time, and you don't see Bob Bobson on myspace being reprimanded for saying how many celebrities he'd have sex with.

Blown out of proportion. All of it.

I don't give a fuck if its sexist and represents some apparent gaping flaw in our society, this isn't some theory, its a kid's life, and it is now ruined for something that amounts to little more than a practical joke.

Fucking hell.
I don't think you quite understand what Juvenile court is; nobody said he was going to jail...the only person "wrong" here, is yourself for failing to read and understand the actual situation.

Furthermore: "This is the third list created by the author, an OPRF junior who is a football player, sources said."

this is NOTHING like that at all.

That was someone who represents the law basically blaming women as a whole for other men's crimes.

What happened here was some kid insulted some girls and their parents got bitchy about it.

I can't believe any rational person would support legal action being taken against this guy.

So he created a mean-spirited (I laughed when reading it, I must admit, although mostly at the name "The Amazing Bisexual") Hot or Not list, I don't really see what makes him worthy of arrest here.

Although he does come across a real arse hole.

This is the stupidest thing in the world. Arresting someone for things they posted? What a great use of money and time. Since when is talking trash about people a serious offense? I am amazed that they actually arrested him, I should be in jail as well then.
This.

This whole debacle is fucking ridiculous. The kid was an idiot yes, but that's not grounds to arrest him. Hell, if what he did was a legally punishable offense, we'd all be in prison for the entirety of our lives. This is just plain stupidity, and a complete waste of time and money.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if one (or several) of the cops' daughters was implicated in this "Hot or Not" list, and the police department took things to the next level.

Although, the alternative reason is Illinois has a whole mess of absurd laws on the books. No joke.

Ok, this kid is a jumped up, smart arse ****, you'll get no argument from me there but seriously? Getting the Police involved? I would have thought professional law enforcement had better things to do than charge some prick teenager, especially in a country where guns are handed out like sweets.
This just about sums it all up.

I shouldn't have to lock my home OR my car at night because no one has the right to touch my stuff but I still do because I'm not stupid. Just like it's stupid to wear skimpy clothing in a dangerous neighborhood meanwhile expecting sympathy if you get mugged or raped. Human nature is human nature and if you don't take every precaution available to you, you're just being dumb.

I don't care he got expelled but this is not a legal issue because he did nothing illegal. Unless these girls did what he actually said, they have nothing to be ashamed over. And if they did do them and are ashamed, well I guess they shouldn't have done them to begin with. This has nothing to do with females either, Females have had lists of things of this nature before. Hell, there was a Law and Order episode based on a girl with one of these type of lists.

The father of one of the girls who appeared on the list said he was pleased that the kid was arrested but expressed concern that a disorderly conduct charge was inadequate for a "very serious offense that affected many people." Nonetheless, he added, "I'm gratified that the investigation continued, and that charges are being filed. I'm hopeful they consider additional charges as they gather more evidence."
over protective much? I mean it was a hot or not list that had say what he'd do to the girl it wasn't anything serious like saying he was going to force his way with them and there's also nothing else to chage the kid with other than sexual harassment but I don't know if that can even be charged

"Many references insult the girls by race, ethnicity and sexual orientation."

I guess they should just change those too, right?

Perhaps you should read the article properly; he's already been charged...

Doesn't Perez Hilton get paid tons of money to do this? So shitting all over celebs is fine but if it's someone you happen to know personally then you should be arrested. Makes sense.

Haven't teens been doing this for like 80 years now? I guess what got him in trouble was a mass distribution of the list.

This is trying to whitewash the abhorrent behavior this individual deliberately invested a lot of time and effort into which resulted in 50 young girls being shamed and horrified in front of their parents and peers.

If your own daughter got posted on the internet and was on page 3 of a pamphlet being handed out at their school with her portrait with a caption of "Most likely to catch AIDS! LULZ!" naturally you would be pissed. If not, you probably would be a horrible parent. Either way.
