Street Fighter: The Movie 2 - This Time, It's Tekken.

But no. Of course the plot looks shit, but the fighting looks pretty good, and thats what people come to the Tekken game for... should also be what they come to the movie for.

I was a little surprised when I thought the main character was played by Tony Jaa... which would make it worth seeing as he's probably the craziest martial artist ever... but its not Jaa... sadface

Surely the title should read Tekken Movie Trailer Isn't Appealing?

Looking at the cast list on IMDB, it seems like they've left out (my favourite) characters (King, Armour King, Marduk, Lei...) invented new ones (Bonner? Sapphire? Denslow? Kara?) and completely miscast the rest of them.

The guy who plays Jack isn't even very big, he's less than 6' tall - hardly an imposing giant robot... and why are there no Kings, was it really that difficult to find a wrestler who could also act, wear a mask and growl?

King of Fighters looked worse. I'm not paying money to see this though. I'll just wait for them to air it on FX or something in about a year, if I even remember it exists by then.

why put a half baked love story in to a tekken movie, sure they all sorta had a back story, but i must say i played all the games and i never really noticed much of an story, the cutscene you got after winning the game hardly seemed like anything they couldn't have done without winning the tournament.

Eh. I'll probably see it, if only because it has Lateef Crowder playing the role that's friggin' meant for him. Hell, I've been calling him "the real life Eddy Gordo" for a while.

The fights do look all right, and while the acting seemed terrible for the most part ('cept maybe Jin), their take on the story doesn't immediately repulse me. Sounds like an okay shot at it so far.

Oh, and honestly this isn't the first attempt at this kind of thing. I've actually seen the Tekken Anime/OAV. This actually seems lightyears better.
Glad I wasn't the first to notice that.

Just no... I think that this movie looks terrible. Surely it can't be that hard to make a good film from a game.

Let's face it, it's going to be a long, long time before someone makes a good movie based on a video game,
can't really agree on that one i really liked silent hill and doom and even tho i don't really care for resident evil and i think that they are milking it a bit bad ( aren't there like 6 movies our by now? ) the movies are alright even tho they are absolutely not like the game itself.

And the only thing i had in my head while watching this trailer is " its karate kid all over again "

Once again it goes to show that even some great games can be beaten to death with its own coolness, thanks Twilight H.little for destroying let another fighting that i'll never touch again out of pure shame.

I want me an Eye of the Tiger training montage. But I'll settle for watching it on some backwoods cable channel in about two years.

You can't, that's why poeple trying to do it is so hilarious.

Let's face it: even the first Mortal Kombat movie was kind of dumb. Don't get me wrong, it was fun dumb. It was a movie to watch with a bunch of friends and enjoy the fight scenes and seeing familiar characters brought to life and the fact that while it wasn't brilliant, it actually had a plot that moved in a semi-coherent fashion from A to B to C and a respectable budget. But it wasn't a movie you were going to admit you were going to see to non-game-players without a touch of embarassment.

And it's still the high-water-mark, as far as movies based on fighting games go. Part of the problem with fighting games is that they do have so many characters, and one can't always be certain that one isn't a fan-favorite. The way some characters were shoehorned into Street Fighter and the second Mortal Kombat was truly pathetic. Any self-respecting screenwriter who had to churn that out must have made some trips to the liquor store in the process.

Until it's proven otherwise, I think the most a fighting game movie can hope for is a cult direct-to-video status and some semi-appreciative hooting in theaters that have the sense to serve beer with this kind of fare.

And not to become, say, Super Mario Bros. (*twitch* *twitch*)

That's only a mask. I'm more interested in more Yoshimitsu or Mokujin (the wooden thing that copys everyone elses moves), how the hell is that thing alive.

or Panda!
Mokujin comes to life when great evil shows itself on Earth. I think it's a curse or something. I'm sure the Tekken wiki knows more about it. Now that you mention it, I would totally watch this movie just for a fight scene with Panda or Kuma in it.

king was supposed to be played by WWE wrestler batista.
his name (and kings) have mysteriously vanished from imdb's cast list...
