Well I was trying to keep the analogy as simple as possible because frankly international law is anything but simple. At the end of the day though she was doing something illegal in her country. She was arrested for two counts of online solicitation of a minor and one count of child enticement. If we follow in making this analogy even more convoluted, she was arrested for purchasing a gun online.EspirituExterminatus said:But that's a horrible analogy. The more fitting one would be you live in the UK, buy a gun online that you will pick up in the US and use during your trip in the US. The gun is never actually entering the UK thus it is not illegal.Slycne said:*snip*
Another example is people planning hunting trips to other places and hunting game that it is either illegal to hunt in your country or is out of season so still illegal to hunt. Do they face charges? No. Because they are not doing anything illegal within their own country.
This woman planned to meet some one in his own country where he is a legal adult of consenting age.
Texan law at least is a friggin joke.

16 in Britain too, though no one seems to care if you have done it sooner.Tidus53 said:WHOA,WHOA,WHOA,WHOA!!! you only have to be 16 to have sex in Canada? Sum1 quote me if this applies to the rest of the world.
It's 16 in Indiana, with parents permission. Otherwise 18.johnman said:16 in Britain too, though no one seems to care if you have done it sooner.Tidus53 said:WHOA,WHOA,WHOA,WHOA!!! you only have to be 16 to have sex in Canada? Sum1 quote me if this applies to the rest of the world.
It's not really that exciting, back when I was Fourteen, Fourteen was the age of consent and it wasn't that exciting. Besides, all it REALLY means is that someone who's over 18 can legally bang someone of said age without being charged with statutory rape. If two minors engage in sexual relations technically they're both guilty of statutory rape and usually the issue is considered null and void.Tidus53 said:WHOA,WHOA,WHOA,WHOA!!! you only have to be 16 to have sex in Canada? England too. Some places are only 13. I forget where... Holland?Tidus53 said:WHOA,WHOA,WHOA,WHOA!!! you only have to be 16 to have sex in Canada? Sum1 quote me if this applies to the rest of the world.

Well, maybe they didn't care, or even worse, didn't want to interfere with his business and his life. He's 16, not a kid. His mom's concern was that he was spending to much time playing games, she was probably overjoyed that he got out of the house.shewolf51 said:The parents didn't follow up?! What, did they think the kid would just go back to his room and obediently sit there? Apparently the apple doesn't fall far from the stupidity tree. >_>
