Honestly... that is just.... Some people should not be allowed to have children! Seriously! We regulate everything else so well, time to put limitations on who can have kids! If you are a brain dead imbecile you do not deserve to bring a child into this world.

Idiots.

But that's a horrible analogy. The more fitting one would be you live in the UK, buy a gun online that you will pick up in the US and use during your trip in the US. The gun is never actually entering the UK thus it is not illegal.
Another example is people planning hunting trips to other places and hunting game that it is either illegal to hunt in your country or is out of season so still illegal to hunt. Do they face charges? No. Because they are not doing anything illegal within their own country.
This woman planned to meet some one in his own country where he is a legal adult of consenting age.
Texan law at least is a friggin joke.
Well I was trying to keep the analogy as simple as possible because frankly international law is anything but simple. At the end of the day though she was doing something illegal in her country. She was arrested for two counts of online solicitation of a minor and one count of child enticement. If we follow in making this analogy even more convoluted, she was arrested for purchasing a gun online.

The parents didn't follow up?! What, did they think the kid would just go back to his room and obediently sit there? Apparently the apple doesn't fall far from the stupidity tree. >_>

Well unlike going to school wow got this kid laid, so its not a complete waste of his life, massively.

OT: I didn't think you could be convicted if the crime didn't take place in the same country? Unless its somthing massive and extradation is agreed.

This... I've had to shave since I was 13 -.-

Maybe I'm just an oddity, or maybe I'm just lazy 'cause I'm the only person with anything approaching a real beard in my entire high school.

On topic: .......

WTFGTLFTL. Huh?!?!

WHOA,WHOA,WHOA,WHOA!!! you only have to be 16 to have sex in Canada? Sum1 quote me if this applies to the rest of the world.
16 in Britain too, though no one seems to care if you have done it sooner.

Frankly, I don't really care. Even if it was a 42 year old man meeting a 16 year old girl.

If it was my own child I would object to it, but they're 16. Objecting may not be the best course of action.

It's 16 in Indiana, with parents permission. Otherwise 18.

It's not really that exciting, back when I was Fourteen, Fourteen was the age of consent and it wasn't that exciting. Besides, all it REALLY means is that someone who's over 18 can legally bang someone of said age without being charged with statutory rape. If two minors engage in sexual relations technically they're both guilty of statutory rape and usually the issue is considered null and void.

I don't see what the issue with the sentencing is. In texas the age of consent is 17. Woman solicits sex from a 16 year old online. Woman arrested for soliciting sex from a minor. She's not being arrested for having sex with the kid since it happened in canada, where the age of consent is 16. She's being arrested for SOLICITING SEX from a MINOR (in texas law).

Whether you agree with it or not there is literally NO shaky legal ground here. It's a solid sentencing.

Well, maybe they didn't care, or even worse, didn't want to interfere with his business and his life. He's 16, not a kid. His mom's concern was that he was spending to much time playing games, she was probably overjoyed that he got out of the house.

I'm Canadian and I could shave since I was 14, though it wasn't more than once every other week.

And that last comment in the article was epic win.

Its not the games, its the players and the parents (where applicable). 1-4 Hours is fine (1-2 preferably but, as long as 4 isn't too common) missing school for a game, un-acceptable.
