This is just more proof that cops are freaking parasites that prey on non-violent criminals. Why pursue killers and real rapists when you can go after pseudo-drug dealers and people who violate the letter of the law. So if I call in a reservation to a brothel in nevada while I'm in california, I should be prosecuted for soliciting sex for money when I get back? It's legal in nevada, but not california, and this is pretty much exactly what happened.

Oh, all the haters who think that people don't hook up on WoW, it happens ALL the time. Get over it! Pretty much half my guild is female, and 80 percent are over 18. The old stereotype that there are no females on the internet is false. The only one that is true is that there are no female mithra players in FFXI.

It's sad that some people obviously play the game too much that it interferes with their school and work life. This would have been infinitely more interesting if this all happened in canada and she was his teacher. Then it would have been more of an ethics issue rather than POS cops preying on a middle aged lady.

Being a stupid parent, sadly, is not a criminal offense in either Canada or the U.S.
Some day. Some day.

And then the world will be at peace.

No laws at all in Saudi Arabia or Oman.
Well there is, but you really don't want to hear about them.

Quick summary: They win.

I'm not sure what is worse. The underage solicitation, or the idea that WoW fans are having sex.
hahahaha
I'm...not even sure how to respond to this article (beyond this of course)

but yeah I can barely stand the minor amounts of grind in non-MMO games, idk if I could ever stand WoW

Well, I think the parents should use the PARENTAL CONTROLS that were made for situations like these. I used to play WoW a little, but I never skipped school for it. Jesus.

Honestly... that is just.... Some people should not be allowed to have children! Seriously! We regulate everything else so well, time to put limitations on who can have kids! If you are a brain dead imbecile you do not deserve to bring a child into this world.

Idiots.
I agree. You have to have a license to drive a car or operate certain types of businesses, but to actually bring another human life into existence all you need is a little spare time. And maybe a rule that states someone can't have a child unless they meet a certain income bracket? I know this is a horrible overstep of government, but we already regulate so much. Either gives us more freedom and less "social insurance" so that the retards die out or stop the retards from procreating.... thats all I ask. I'm sure this kid's parents would make a good start.

I love how his parent didn't follow up on it when he asked them to drive him to meet her or how his parents let him skip school to play WoW. I couldn't get away with either one of those when I was a kid.

I resent that comment, sir. I am from the exact same city as this woman and I know for a fact that the majority of us aren't stupid enough to pull a stunt like this.

You mean the cops that are just doing their job, right? Their job is to catch people who break the law. They don't write them, they just enforce it. Yeah there's a lot of really bad crime out there, but you still can't pull resources away from investigating other more minor issues. Would you really be comfortable if your local law enforcement agency pulled all its traffic cops to work on drug enforcement? The fact is, she broke the law. It doesn't matter whether you think it's a victimless crime or not, SHE BROKE THE LAW.

If you don't like it, you should write your local representative. You know, the guy who actually writes these laws. We do still live in a democracy.

I don't know what to say.

At least it's better than them getting angry at eachother and one going to jail for murder.

A bit of pedophilic love isn't too bad in comparison. Though it's still gross. >.<

Errrmmm... it seems kinda wrong that this happened...
Surely the laws for the place that the event happened should be the one that applies?
Seeing as none of it occurred in Texas...

Meh, there are lots of 'laws' that we have passed that we would be better without. Most states have some sort of law on the books about not selling icecream on sundays (the day of the week, not the dish). The 'age of consent' thing comes down to how idiotic your state thinks the barrier between child and adult is. There are numerous cases where some moron cops ruined the lives of an 19 year old guy with a 17 year old girlfriend by slapping him with a criminal sex offender charge, just for doing what comes naturally. The fact that she's so much older than him is slightly disturbing, but perfectly within their rights in canada. I'm sure most of us know about 18 year old girls who marry 75 year old guys. That is downright gross. If people are going to hook up, it should be because they both desire to be with eachother, not because of cash or any forced situation.

As for cops, they should be cracking down on the real offenders. Traffic cops are there to take down speeders and drunk drivers, not to ticket you for not wearing a seatbelt or having a busted taillight. They shouldn't have to 'fish' for an offense from you. If you were swerving all over the road, they should get right to the point: I think you are drunk, step out of the car and breath into this!

Also, there are real sex offenders out there! People who do shit like rape women and molest little kids. I'm not talking about high school kids, but elementary school. When you get put on a sex offender list, your information is given out to every busybody out there and you are banned from certain fields of work. The problem with this is the implied morality that is forced on us has just screwed us over.

Alot of people don't understand the difference between morality and ethics. Morality is very dependent upon the time you live in, the religions of your area and attitudes of the people. When people make laws about age of consent it is because they believe it to be immoral to have sex with somebody under the age of consent because they don't know better... Which is in and of itself a stupid comment. The mentally handicapped are never above the age of consent. You'll also find that most people consent to sex around age 13. There is alot of other BS about being your parents property and the expectation between marriage and sex... yeah, back to the whole religion thing, which really should be kept out of laws.

Now ethics issues goes along the lines I was chatting about earlier, with the teacher having sex with her student, even though they are above the age of consent. While it may meet the moral 'laws' imposed by society, it fails to meet the ethical standards we impose. Why? Because they are teacher and student. This line gets more interesting in college, where the age gap gets even less dramatic. Sometimes, the teacher is actually younger than the student, but that doesn't make it any less wrong.

While we have seen a trend of morally driven ethics, it's the ethically driven morals that we really need in society. While morals are driven by feelings and beliefs, ethics are driven by fairness and impartialness.

Also, btw, it's obvious from your attitude that your alignment is towards the belief that the law is infalliable and that democracy works great. It doesn't. It's driven by millions of idiots driven by fear and consumer greed. Lots of stupid bills get passed with idiotic little things tacked on in the fine print. Most of us feel trapped when we vote, choosing between saying yes to a good proposition and denying it to prevent the additional crap from becoming law. Personally, I see myself more of a neutral good guy, I see the need for law, but I feel myself being drawn by chaos because it better serves the peoples rights.

Why is Canada at the centre of most recent WoW scandals? First the orc vs wife thing, and now this.
The snows have finally thawed enough for news bearing pack mules to finally make it out. Or is that pack mooses...
I dunno man, normally I would chuckle at this, despite the fact that I am Canadian I think the stereotypes and jokes are hilarious, Strangely thought where I live in Ontario we really haven`t gotten enough snow to block our news carrying moose brigade. (It's always good when you can laugh at yourself, I think if more people had a sense of humour about where they were from the world may be less fucked up, or more fucked up, or the same, who knows...)
