Deus. Try protecting the point where a Scout Rush is coming at you. Medics/Heavys are Sandman'd. Pyro is knocked back, Level 3 Sentries miss or go down in two Scouts FoN. Demos are too slow, Soldiers are left behind and Spies...well they just need to go invisible for when the Scouts return triumphant. Oh and captured at double speed.

Scouts are now to Offence what Engineers are to Defence.

As for 'useless', you did see that one of the Achievements is to kill someone on Arena before the match even starts?

aren't these weapons optional? If they are, don't use them. Simple. And I'm a 360 owner so it kinda irks me when people complain about getting free stuff, something with the exception of Left 4 Dead we don't get.

my biggest problem is the achievements to get the weapons. Some of them require one of the new weapons to get and some are practically impossible to get through natural gameplay. How in the hell are you supposed to get someone to stand still long enough to hit them with the new bat?
Skill and practice.
I'm talking about the "Out of the Park" achievement. Getting someone to hold still for ten seconds without either of you being killed and without their consent is like trying to get someone with ADD to watch C-SPAN for equally as long. To quote Yahtzee's paraphrase of Oscar Wilde, "No chance you unreasonable dicks"!
find yourself a nice sniper or engi camping behind his turret, not so hard.
Or better, team up with a pair of scout mates, let them fire a baseball into someone at a 5 second interval whilst you charge yours up.

I like the concept of the Force of Nature. It will allow me to be more hit and run, which I always envisioned the scout to be. Bonk... well, I like my pistol too much.

As for the Sandman? I also like double jumping... and dislike baseball. But I've seen them all put to good use. Having a Scout rush at you as a Pyro and your flame not affecting him can be rather distressing. And having a stun-headshot combo done on you is just plain annoying.

The combination of the Sandman and the pistol is also rather nasty.

Again that's practically impossible because either A) they will move since not even snipers stay in one place for 10 seconds B) you'll be spotted by their team members and killed while stuck in the animation or C) someone on your team will see them and kill them before you can. Believe me I've tried doing like you said but one of those three things always happened.

I think you mean the Well achievement where you kill someone before the match starts.

I've faced a Scout rush like that too often these last couple days. They are as powerful as you said, but Sentries still are and always will be their doom. With the Force-A-Nature, they need to get REALLY close to maximize its effectivenes, and Sentries will have blown them to hell long before they can get close enough. That's why they still need support from Soldiers and Demomen, and that's why the game is not now called Scout Fortress 2.

EDIT: It's still pretty damn close to it though.

Simply don't use what you don't want to. I don't see any other problem. Surely if the new weapons are that bad, the people using them would be an easier kill for you?
I just explained this. This wasn't intended to be a whine thread. Although I'll admit i got a bit side tracked in a few posts. Anyway, this was intended to discuss strategies for the new weapons. Saying "just don't use them" isn't helping.
Point taken. Thanks for responding in a sensible manner mate. Unhelpful as it is, I still believe in what I said in my post. Things may change again anyway.

Deusfps reminds me of the WoW community always crying when something is changed.

The new scout changes made the class more apelling and fun to play.

Read their blog, dudes. They carefuly considered the gameplay implications of each item right down to the fucking artwork before they released them. The Sandman is in there so the scout can stand up against heavier classes he normally wouldn't stand a chance against, the Force-a-nature is there to increase mobility and make hit-and-run tactics more useful, and the Bonk is for sneaking past sentries which make the Scout otherwise unplayable. It's a great update, and the origional threee weapons are all still popular and useful, so stop bitching.

Right, the new shotgun. Whats the point in removing double jump so you can use the shotgun for it insted and for less damage. No double jump = dead scout.
The baseball bat removes the double jump...

Try to get behind snipers. There's Scout Sandman taunt montages on Youtube showing some decent locations to get people, and decent techniques to get them easily.

You obviously don't play Team Fortress 2, considering the scout is invisible now.

Right, the new shotgun. Whats the point in removing double jump so you can use the shotgun for it insted and for less damage. No double jump = dead scout. The drink does nothing, you have to stand still for like 2 seconds and only lasts about 5. So you either take it in the thick of fire and get owned in .5 of a second or take before and get ~1 second of the effect when you need it. Pistol still owns it. New bat is only thing i would ever use, just to take out heavys, but i can do that easily by double jumping onto their head and owning them with the normal bat. Does nobody else see this or am i the only one here who knows how to play tf2?
I'm pretty sure you aren't and Valve made the game. They could completely cripple the scout and you know what? You'd have to deal with it. The Force of Nature pushes enemies back and if you're in the air it functions as a double jump. The energy drink isn't so you can rush into combat, but rather so you can avoid it. The new weapons aren't for you to go into the fray, they're for you to capture intelligence better.
