When I saw this thread, I was going to mention Ornstein and Smough too... They were really hard to beat.

Besides them, there was the Flamelurker and Maneaters in Demon's Souls. And that rival encounter in Pokemon Sapphire under cycling road. I was a lot younger then and I kinda sucked but it was still quite hard, especially compared to the previous parts of the game.

Kinda surprised no one mentioned the Reaper from persona. if you didntknow what you were doing and he just appeared out of no where, he was going to completely destroy you.

Sword and Axe from The Two Thrones. Not that it was bad though, I just had to step up and actually get to know how to use the combat system rather than spacebar-click click.

Caesar's Tent, Very Hard in New Vegas. Fight guys with high DT Armor, Ballistic Fists, all within an extremely confined space that also makes VATS freezing very frequent.
That fight was so hard. I was glad when Boone and I killed him. Thumbs down, you son of a *****!

The main bad guy in pokemon Platinum was really annoying. How does a Gyarados learn earthquake anyway?

One of the end game bosses of Need for Speed Underground, I had the difficulty on hard, but pretty much almost overlapped every car in most races. Until one random boss Nissan was so impossible, that I couldn't overtake him.

It was probably because I kept changing my car for aesthetics, which cost me too much money to buy the final parts. But I lost in style. ;_ ;

Well I'm having some trouble with a boss in a game I'm playing right now called Avadon: The Black Fortress. Multi-stage fight where you're essentially doing battle with an escalating group of enemies while also being forced to dance around the room or get hit by a spell that causes confusion, which is bad. Can make in through most of the fight just fine but when that last fighter enters the battle and everyone gets the battle-rage ability it's just a desperate struggle just to survive.

Well designed fight but also really, really hard. Admittedly I am playing on the hard difficulty and could probably turn it down to normal for this fight but NO, NEVAR! I R RPG CHAMPION, I never turn difficulty down!

Elizabeth Greene in Prototype, especially when compared to the final boss who I killed by throwing a few thing at him.

Greene is just a stone-cold ***** of a boss fight.
In my opinion, it was sort of a let-down. I had heard about the fight against her, and I expected some sort of epic duel between me and her. Then I fouund out she is practically just a big, unmovable target with some tentacles here and there. (And the F U move, but I managed to dodge that) I liked both the first cross-fight (When he spams soldiers), and the final cross-fight much better because it felt more like a "duel". (The reason why I love Devil May Cry games is the duels.)

OT: Let me see... The last (Second last?) boss in the first Dark Cloud game. EVIL!!!! His hands are easy, his lazer is easily dodged... but his fucking wind! It's impossible to dodge as far as I know, impossible to block, and if you had a bad long-range character(s) and weapons as I had, it is a nightmare to beat him... I think his name was The Dark Genie or something -_-

Lord of the rings: The third age... You know what Balrog? I hate you and your insta-kill all characters except for Gandalf. (He can two-hit Gandalf if you are unlucky) All other bosses, mini-bosses and "Hard" encounters are nothing compared too that asshole!

And at last, the last boss in GUN; Magruder or whatever his face. Has nigh in-prenetable armor, a ridicilously overpowered shotgun, AND he get help from his soldiers often, who in themselves are pretty though, with good guns. I hate that guy so much.

Another 'fuck you' moment is also in Dark Cloud. The boss of the Sun and Moon temple. Now, he is not a F U boss for being hard. No, he is a F U boss for being so easy that I was extremely bored fighting him! All the bosses before and after him had several attacks, and they rarely REALLY flinched too your attacks. Him? You can use the crappy AND broken crappy dagger throughout the whole fight, for he flinches all the time. It takes a long and boring time, but it will eventually get the job done. (I beat him faster thank god.)

Captcha: tiysic cyanide... umm, are you trying to tell me something?

Brimflamm.... this bastard... White Knight Chronicles 2 by the way

I don't want to reimagine the bossfight with him. i had to retry multiple times and each time takes about 30 minutes. I think i was stuck on him for about 2 days.

Samurai Shodown 5: Sankuro Yorozu. His "trio of minions named Gosichi, Fuyo, and Ippachi" are his special moves, but work without any warning--presumably, you are supposed to HEAR him call to them, but the Arcade always has the sound turned off. So it's by luck--or cheese--that I beat him. It took me, off and on, a decade to beat him.

i must ask the both of you, was this the Special Edition or original release of DMC3?

but speaking of DMC3 >.> the flying centipede boss, not because its terribly 'hard' per say, it just takes FOREVER to kill. sure you can, in theory, bounce its projectiles back at it for huge damage, but that's always been problematic given the number he throws at you, i mention it over the others cause the nerfing of the SE release did little to make it, easier, or shorter.

Vindictus has 3 bosses that KINDA fit this, all raid bosses, and ALL 3 are part of the main story line, so you kinda HAVE to kill them to get to the next bit of content.

Thor: GIANT, 3 jawed electrical alligator, who stand in water, for extra fun, he can electrically charge the water, this is unblockable, and SPAMMED, and high damage, it is avoidable that that accounts for only 5% at most of the map.

Ingkells: demonic ogre looking dood, with a big ass sword, a few AoE and Line type attacks, and, can summon mid, to full boss grade enemys.
and
Glas Ghaibhleann: a HUGE, 4 armed demon looking thing, it flys, has a one hit kill, and most of its attacks can, and will obliterate you.

City of Heroes has Trapdoor, some random loser made an 'Incarnate' threw unnatural means, listing him, cause of his high speed regeneration, even for a boss, and which only gets worse when he makes clones of him self, best way anyone i know has found of countering it, even with clones, is push him into the lava pit near by, fun times lemme tell ya

Velius (Final Fantasy Tactics)

If you don't adequately prepare your troops, the buildup to this fight is no cakewalk, but the fight itself is just hellishly difficult. Over the years, through countless run-throughs, I've more or less mastered the battle, so that I don't have nearly as much trouble with it as I used to, but I still remember my first attempt, and the slaughter that followed. Velius and the three Archaic Demons he's with are extremely powerful, both physically and magically. It takes nothing short of an expertly trained strike force to take them down without suffering casualties yourself.

What makes it worse is that if you used the save point that comes up right before the battle, you no longer have the option of backtracking a bit to grind until you're strong enough; the save point launches you right into the fight, with no chance to escape. You have no choice but to keep trying until you somehow win, or else restart your game completely.

Mine is the original release. I was never really into DMC but received the game as a present. Not a bad game.

it is a very good game, but half the reason for your trouble, that version of DmC3 normal = hard, not sure it was intentional or a coding error but there ya go. personally i was kinda pissed the SE was so much easier

ALL OF MY HATE!!!

(Yes, I do actually have this game)
I love watching that video while just thinking about how it's Xemnas HOLDING BACK....or maybe Sora is just much weaker at that point compared to KHII.

Also, can you actually read the Japanese text or do you just know the game well enough to play it blind?
