Ok. So how many of you are going up the line sizing up the competition?
Exactly this for the past week. The trick is keep your profile bare, and nobody will be able to tell how awesome you are. Then...

...STRIKE. With film-makery.

Hopefully, anyway. Perhaps should have toned down the race-hate in my entry.

Oh no! You didn't go there? Lol
Maybe it will be overlooked!

I imagine it takes some coding for the contest, or they have to put the beginnings and ending scene clips on the videos, or they're designing graphics for the contest, or whatever. Though I think they'll be up today at, like 5pm EST or tomorrow.

Ok. So how many of you are going up the line sizing up the competition? Do any of you live here near Durham, NC.? I see a few from Canada, and a couple from MN. and some anonymous location posts.
Do you think that'd make them pick you over someone who lives overseas (I live in New Jersey, so with all the hate by cable t.v. I guess that automatically means I'll never win based on location. As John Stewart would put it: "Sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel isn't the promise land, it's just New Jersey." But hey...for every Jersey Shore and Cake Boss, at least we have shows...set in New Jersey (despite being fictional) like House, Boardwalk Empire, and The Sopranos!)

Oh. No Way! You can be from anywhere in the world and win! This is a signed contract to produce videos for them from anywhere! I would love to win but I don't stand any better chance than anyone else from anywhere else. I live maybe 25-30 miles from their home office and I am surprised at how few people from this area are on here other than the staff. Don't worry man. If you have the best video (and I've seen some from some of the contestants as well as last years winner) you will win! It doesn't matter where you live.

I'm sure you're right, I just wasn't sure if being close to their office might mean better communication and make it more likely for them to hire you/work with you in real life. Anyway, good luck and let us know if you get anymore of these insider messages on when the videos are gettin posted.

I haven't heard anything from them at all today and I've been trying to reach them since midnight. They do have a job posting on Craigslist Raleigh/Durham for a video editor, and I have replied to them and let them know that I'm interested, but heard nothing back from them about it. It does require you to live in Durham, NC. though. I want to win this because I have a 2 yr. old son and would love to work from home and be able to watch him grow up.

That's so heartfelt. I hope they give out two contracts this year just for you and your son! (Being a 16 year High School Student I (fortunately) do not have a 2 year old son and can't say I want the job out of necessity, just to tell the story)

Russ Pitts : "Hey, Susan. Have you seen how nuts these guys are going on the Film Festival Thread? They're doing their heads in waiting for us to put their videos up online!"

Susan Ardent : "Really? Lets have a look. Oh wow, yeah, they really are. Now i kinda feel bad we had it ready this morning, but decided to put it up just before we leave the office tonight."

Russ Pitts : "Hmm....I bet you five bucks one of them has a major mental meltdown in a post before we launch it."

Susan : "I bet -you- five bucks Godwin's Law wins before we put it up!"

Russ : "Deal!"

Susan : "Done! Put it there!"

Now you know what they're doing at Escapist HQ... :)

Do you guys think MovieBob will do a review of what he thinks are the top entrees??? I know it's not what he usually does, and not what he did last year, but I think a large percentage of the site, especially those interested in film respect him as a critic and would want to see their films reviewed by him. Am I right?
