I got the "Artist of the month award" various times on this site. (zazzle not escapist) My stuff is a bit on the morbid side, but never enough to gross you out or anything. Its all good fun.

I actually liked Valentine's Day the best. I'm not sure why--I think it was because it never got boring. As soon as one string of beats was getting old a new one would come in and the song would change. The lyrics starting halfway through was odd, but overall a good song.

Question: is Reason 4 any good? I've been trying to find some software to make music with, but I don't really know where to start looking.

That's an interesting piece, but you would do well to remember that light doesn't bleach out objects and that shadows aren't black. Don't just use black and white to make light and shadow, use colours.

As for my own art... Um, Mario gender bender, anyone?

Cool beans man, I'm glad you did put it up. Now, not having any kind of substantial musical knowledge I can't give an in depth critique. Some of it is simple, but its catchy and sometimes that's all you need. The one for the rap itself is definitely the one I enjoyed the most. I wasn't singing along out loud, but listening to it while reading the lyrics was helpful for me to get how it was supposed to go. I myself enjoy writing raps here and there. Most of it is just me and my buddy dicking around, but some of it we're using in our music/comic book read-along project.

It's nice to see people posting music, its a healthy change from drawings and prose.
Hey, thanks a lot!

I've always found non-musicians to be good critics in situations like this, if they go "That part in the chorus sounded weird" "Yeah I know, I threw in a #4" "...It sounds weird.." "Its meant to" then I know they don't like it and I should think about changing it.

You should post up some of your stuff man - It will be fun =D

That's the whole deal with Trance, start off small, then every 8 bars you add something. Vday is the only song I have managed to do that well, its good to know that someone else things it works =D

Reason 4 is pretty amazing but its a tad slow without a keyboard and MIDI set up - Assuming you have all of those, its great and I highly recommend it. The only other program I can think of that does the same kind of things is Cubase - I have noo idea what it can and can't do but I've heard some good things about it.

I didn't take these "performance art" pictures myself: I was one of the the people "performing." Get my drift?

I grew up on anime / manga (for shame) so if it's not your cup of tea, take a pass on this post.

The last one is something I'd classify as 'affectionate parody' - I was gonna go OTT with huge eyes and typical anime expressions, but that was as much as I could do without feeling too ill. It's a crappy scan anyway.

Thanks for the advice! I'll check out Reason and Cubase, though if they're overly complicated I'll probably get lost very fast. My only experience with music making was about half a week with Garageband a year ago...

With any luck I'll figure something out.

So I decided to do a series of artsy avatars from different movements. There'll be a few styles thrown into the mix too, of course, but mostly movements. Once they're all done I'll post them here then have a different one for each week.

That's certainly going to throw me through a loop. How will I recognize you without your LaCoil avatar?... Actually it'll be pretty easy... but still.

I'm diggin' this one. I take it you were going for cubist?

Yes indeed. I've also got a minimalist, anime and Zero Punctuation done and up on my DeviantArt at present. Not sure what else I'm going to do.

Hell, I got nothing. Closest I can get is the demotivational posters I keep making.
EDIT:Wait, writing pieces are allowed? Well alright then, I think I just may have something here:
?Real costumer? ? Whoa, whoa, whoa! Back the fuck up! Is that the Shamwow?

Vince - You bet your stupid ass it is! Vince Shlomi here with the Shamwow! This isn?t your grandmother?s broken ass piece of shit you ignorant asshole! This thing can soak up cow seamen, vomit, horse shit, whoopee, hooker blood, you name it, Shamwow soaks it up! This crap has more sucking power than a hooker with a vacuum cleaner- and I should fucking know!
You can use it to clean all sorts of crap up with this shit! It?ll clean your Jesus Christ statue, your stupid cat, your broken ass door, your Freeman shrine, your other useless Shamwow, your Charlie Brown, your drunk uncle, whatever your stupid ass can think of!
The Shamwow can soak up the entire Atlantic Ocean, and it won?t drip none of it anywhere! It?s made by the Germans; you know how good they are at eliminating things that they find inferior. Look at this; we got some beer, blood, vomit, broken teeth, flat soda, that Drain-O your stupid kid tried to drink last night, cat urine, all in your stupid rug. Look at this; soaks right through the carpet. There?s your mildew, that gonna reek like a mother fucker if you don?t do anything about it. But look here -you following me camera guy?- just place the Shamwow on top of it, you don?t even need to apply any pressure to it [starts punching the rug] and look, three-hundred and thirty five percent of it come right out. Apply pressure, and the other thirty-seven thousand percent comes right out.
This is great, look at what these other people had to say about it!

Pot Head ? This one time, I like smoked a bong and like, it got all sky like and like, I started seeing colors man.

Random Guy ? What the hell is a Shamwow? Some kind of bank loan?

Vince ? [runs up to a business man] Sir! What do you think of the Shamwow?

Business man ? Get that camera outta my face!

Vince ? You?re gonna spend forty thousand dollars a week on paper towels anyway, so why not just get my crap? And if you call within the next three to four months, we?ll give you four more that you don?t need! Look at this; the Shamwow is so extreme, I need two hands and a headset to sell this *****!

Vince ? Shamwow: Buy this *****!
Made this for my english class when we were doing satires. (no idea what the teacher ultimately thought of it though.)

Okay, here are my pieces of meat avec the cubist and the surrealist ones. The cubist one demonstrates that you've looked at quite a bit of cubist art. I notice Picasso in particular there, which is unfortunate because Picasso was sort of an anomaly in the movement. Cubists tend to use warmer colour palettes (oranges and yellows) and the triangle (ironically enough) is the most common shape. The background needs to be advanced on, it looks decent, but it doesn't look like one entity as it would in a true cubist painting. It needs a little more acknowledgement of form and shadows.

The surrealist I don't have so much of a problem with, I just think that in terms of the movement, Dali overshadows everyone. People often see him as the only surrealist which is sad to me.

Oh also, you may want to call the minimalist one something else, cause minimalism as an art movement was something fairly different.

Clever idea though. I look forward to seeing some more. It may help to read the manifestos of the movements before making them too. It could work as a joined boredom alleviating/art history exploring project.

Peace, until next time.

That one inspired me somehow to make this in Paint.

I dunno, maybe it was the whole bowler hat thing that got me to make this one.
