Hmmm...

He has a point, but I think Bob might have been lurking around the darkest corners of the internet a little bit too much. I'd say it all depends on topic and forum.
I think when you actually have your own show, like MovieBob does, there is a very high chance that at least some of the users will post comments like "you're such a fanboy".

This from someone that could not tolerate people liking the Expendables because that meant they were responsible for the failure of Scott Pilgrim.
What he meant by that is that the movies came around the same time.
And because most people will go for "HOLY SHIT MAN!!! EXPLOSIONS!" That's why Scott Pilgrim was not such a success.
Which is correct.
I liked Scott Pilgrim and I hated the Expandables.

Have I not been on the internet long enough?
Because I don't really recognise this...

ps. chocolate ice cream is anti vanilla? i think its anti strawberry because... well, think about that for just a sec...
Usually you get chocolate and vanilla together with a strawberry thing to the side because they match and strawberry is a fruit, I don't think it mixes well with chocolate, but it does mix well with vanilla...

I can go on for hours you know :p

I think you are taking one quote out of context and misinterpret it. I agree, as the MovieBob fan-boy that I am, that terrible but easily accessible movies can have a bad impact on good, but perhaps complicated movies. A parallel is MB's argument that FPS games are bad for the industry. That does not make him a "fan-boy", nor does it prohibit him from saying his peace on other matters, such as fairness. Also, just because we think one thing to be right, this does not make you invulnerable to still having pet-peeves.
So in short, as far as I see it, he did not express himself as you saw it, even if he did, it wasn't relevant to the argument and even if it was, that doesn't mean his opinion is flawed.
Also you are clearly an Expendable fan-boy;)

I found a fun and easy way around this.

HATE EVERYTHING.
Ding ding we have a winner! My dad always lived by the mantra "I am not biased, I hate everyone and everything equally." Ah but that makes us fanboys of the negative stance. Surely, by taking this stance we have offended all those are not biased because they love everyone and everything equally. You know who I talking about... wait I don't even know who I am talking about. Could such a person or group of people exist? They like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde on NES as much as they loved Super Mario Bros. 3 or Bioshock, or the original Sonic games, or Crash Bandicoot, or GTA IV, or Halo, or Just Cause 2.... phew did I name enough games to make that an unbiased example?

New Mantra: "everything is or will be shit"

Does disagreeing with some things and being undecided about the rest qualify me of being a "hater"? I know I disagreed with some the parts of the previous episode -- which is probably why he did this particular episode -- so does that make me a "hater"?

"Fanboy" has become the equivalent of Fox News calling someone a "socialist" or "nazi" in that it is an excuse not to argue with you anymore.
NOOOOO.. you invoked Goodwin, topic closed... :p

If thinking that actual opinion and discourse is superior to instantly-trolling everything then, yes, I'm a huge big picture fanboy.

Unrelated note, the old fashioned tv he showed I actually own, I feel old.

Bob Chipman, you are a hero. I understand right where this is coming from, me being a Metalhead (wearing heavy metal t-shirts e.g. Morbid Angel, Pantera, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Bathory) publicly in school and wearing my Death, Evile or Megadeth hoodie automatically makes me love Metal and nothing else right?
Yes, I love Metal, it's my favourite genre; but that doesn't stop me loving Nirvana or Gorillaz or The Prodigy or Frank Sinatra or the pieces from my Vivaldi and J.S.Bach cds.
We like what we like, intolerance is one of the highest forms of idiocy.

I've seen this soo much on various forums; everything from pen and paper rpgs to politics. If you like A you must hate B. The one that always gets me is "If you like Star Trek you must hate Star Wars!" that i get from so many fans.
Why 'must' that be true? I love both series: one is a rich universe of deep mythology and symbolisim; the other looks at the themes of the human condition. Both have made some bad product, (Nemisis and Jar Jar) but they have brought me a lot of entertainment.
So why do i have to embrace Lucasism or the First Church of Rodenberry? Can't I love them both?
(wait, did i just exclude Battlestar Galactica? great, now I'm a "non-realistic sci-fi" fanboy!)

Fair game from Bob once more. Excellent show.
And seeing how everyone on this thread will toss in an opinion of their own to show their agreement.

I love Avatar. Fuck that Pocahontas bullshit.
Shawshanks good, right? How come that doesn't get shit for being unoriginal? It's based on a fucking book!!

hmm, I HATE trolls, and I always try to be objective, and I'm often labeled as a Sonic/nintendo fanboy for trying to be objective about some observed facts about my favorite game series. So to the enlightened people who watched this video, would I be a fanboy for expressing this:

"Sonic is not doing as bad as everyone says, for every 'bad' game he's in there are 2 'good' ones, but people tend to remember negative press longer. Also, the worst offenders (Sonic '06, Free Riders) are games that didn't come out on nintendo consoles. And finally, people ignore otherwise good titles (All Stars Racer, Sonic Battle, Sonic Riders, etc) just because they aren't in Sonic's usual genre; or worse, call them rip offs; while any other series (Mario, Star Fox, Metroid) can make games in multiple genres and people love them, an unfair double standard"

Expressing that opinion as clearly as I could has had me called a fanboy who hates Sony and Microsoft and latches on to a dying franchise by people who don't know me, but on somewhat friendlier forums people have seen my argument for what it is, unless they're just a bunch of like minded sycophants who want to keep me happy so I'll draw something for them. What do you think?

You know, Bob is absolutely right, but there's something missing here. The internet is pretty much a hive-mind; go with the herd or get yelled at by 12 year olds. All the anonymity that the internet allows emboldens people enough to say whatever the wish with no fear of backlash other than from trolls. But with this lack of fear, people are so herd oriented that they just go with the flow and attack whatever isn't the norm for them.

You know what I say to that? To hell with em. I could care less if some Sheep-minded flock dweller doesn't like that I have a unique opinion.

Now, give these herd animals more power to ENFORCE their fairness doctrine, and then you have a problem that Bob brought up. But for now, it's the internet, its full of morons, and they're mostly harmless if not just annoying.

Also don't forget how Bob like to beat the S#!T out Master Chief by claiming that he is the reason innovation is dead and that FPS's were dumb to begin with because they aren't Mario.

Isn't MovieBob a film critic? The last time I looked a critics job was to present an unbiased (or fair) and balanced summing up of a product with a recommendation based on the good and bad aspects. Isn't that completely contradictory to this 'opinion'?

And what is an objective opinion?
