Sorry, long time watcher first time respond, SINCE I CANT GET EMAIL TO WORK.
*ahem* sorry about that. Any way, i believe what you said about the space progam, and its cancelatio are true, and have the same thoughts. And i thought i would share my defence against the 'bleeding hearts' with you. When (i'm an optimist, so sue me) space travel is put back in front, there are eventually going to be stations, outposts, docks, etc. NOt only will these thing provide jobs while they are running, but will also provide jobs to both skilled and unskilled laborers DURING CONSTRUCTION! The price will be high, but this could very well improve the economy. Also, assuming we get hydroponics down, we will increase the total area we have to grow food on, eventually leading to a reduction in world hunger. Science would be forced to take a notch up, like it did in the cold war. Hell, if we're lucky, some of the other countries will try to race us to colonize Mars, leading to a revival of the space race. We are going to get to study other things in space, in new and different conditions, whos to say we wont start finding new ways and new cures to diseases. This puch could in fact affect how we perceive the world and may bring about enough change that would aide in the creation of world peace. im not enough of an optimist to say world peace is possible, but this would definately be a steo in the right dirrection. And yes, i realise my typing is horrendous, as is my spelling. Tough it out. These are just my thoughts on the subject. Please respond if you could.
Thanks.
Sincerly

Don't worry, I enjoy my life too. But it just makes you wonder what could've been...Haakong said:Why do you think (almost) the whole western population spends time killing eachother in digital fantasy worlds? We could've had a Utopian-Supercity on Jupiter, but nooooOOOOOOOooo, 9/11 had to happen!! Hell, I'd honestly prefer the post-apocalyptic future then this one: at least then life would feel a bit more important then it does sitting around at a school/job/ computer at home. Our future just sucks.
Yes, we got food. We got shelter. We got entertainment. But all in all its just escapism for what we really want the world to be: A ground where the conflicts are how to survive and improve, not who is blessed by which deity or who called who a bad word. And we do nothing to stop the way it is going! We just keep standing in lines to get the newest vanity trinket first. Couldnt agree with you more on the post apocalyptic part. Living there would be better than this...
No, Im not referring to a revolution here. But I wish for a world where humans are ONE race, and working together to reach common goals. A place where the ones that enjoy sports can genetically engineer himself to be a prime athlete, a D&D fan can run around in forest fighting real dragons and party with real dwarves for a living, and an artist can work unrestrained.
its an utopia, I know. But its not a dream. We couldve been there if we werent so pitiful.

Btw, I like my life, just wish it was better![]()
