I think we're going to need new words for stuff, since 'PC' itself doesn't define any type of all-in-one machine. You see, I don't need to do stuff on a PC, but I do want some sort of all-in-one machine to spend most of my generalized computing needs on. I like having consoles, phones, whatever -- but when I go home I want to spend time on one thing. Less time booting stuff up and shutting it down (or less electricity wasted by keeping things on all the time) is win in my book.

I don't care about the packaging so much, I just want the result. Right now the PC delivers that result beautifully onto my lovely monitor, customized to my uses and aesthetics. By all means, let's see some other type of devices that can do the same things in one convenient package!

So what will we call it?

Bob is a console (read Nintendo) fanboy and has always been a one. He doesn't care about all the great things PC gaming provides because he doesn't game on a pc. He plays the wii.

Ummm just to say PC games have been sold 20% more in 2010 than in 2009 if that's dying ok....also the last part of the video where he says you have consoles, ipads, laptops etc. and that they together do everything a PC does is just retarded.Who that has IQ over 70 would buy all those or PC that can do all of that? Also how can PC gaming die if consoles are being turned into PCs that just makes no f***ing sense
He's not talking about replacing PC's in 2011 or 2015. He means more like 2050.

I don't see anywhere where he means it if he does then why make video about it everything will be replaced in 2050 we will probably be able to smell things in games and play with holograms or some stuff like that,if he meant in 2050 he wouldn't say only PC gaming is dying.
People who are bored like to guess what'll happen in the future. It was probably a quiet day in Bob-town

The irony in making a blanket 'fanboy' assumption when Bob did an entire episode on why 'fanboy' assumptions are retarded.

I guess I will get it off my chest as I fully intended to say nothing. PC still holds a major advantage in the FPS genre as all those cute console boxes still refuse to support keyboard and mouse in a game environment.

And from your description of a "PC" I can tell your is about 5 years old and you have not entertained the thought of a new one in some time.

While PC gaming has lost some ground and relevance, Steam and the BFBC2 stage unlock race prove that PC gaming is alive and kicking ass.

COULD YOU PLEASE SHUT THE HELL UP WITH THE "ZOMG NOW GONNA BE FLAME WAR!!!111" COMMENTS? It's not contributing to anything and include half the comments to this video.

I feel mixed about this one since Bob does make some good points but some are just wrong.
You mentioned that consoles are evolving but didn't mention that PC is evolving just as well.
Consoles can't run and I doubt they will run the same RTS that PCs are running. Not to mention the new generation of MMOs that is coming up.

Like said before, I rather have 1-2 devices than 10 diffrent ones who function just the same. I really don't understand why would you need anything beyond home pc, leptop and maybe some really good phone.

So...

PC gaming is dieing because people don't have to play on desktop computers? And PC games are fine because you don't have to play on desktop computers?

By your logic Bob consoles have a red dot hovering on their collective skull, because they have been trending toward copying PCs for a while:

-Online multiplayer? check
-capable of playing media other than games? check

Without those two advancements, consoles have only one innovation since their creation: motion controls. If the PC pirating problem is ever fixed OR it spreads to consoles enough to become a problem the only thing separating the two is the fact that PCs can do so much more. And who is going to blow half a grand or more when they can spend just as much on something FAR more useful

A lot of those are not exclusive at all!
List the non-exclusives that are not in the "Multiformat" section, please.
I don't need to.
What is "Multiplatform" doing on an exclusives list?

And Torchlight II.
Maybe not at launch, but eventualy.
Torchlight is on Xbox Live now.

Is anyone else slightly concerned about this transition into the portable in terms or repair ability? I mean if a PC develops a problem with any single component nine times out of ten it can be fixed at a local repair shop. Heck if it?s something simple like a piece of ram has failed, or your graphics card YOU CAN FIX IT YOURSELF with a simple replacement. If a tablet or Smartphone breaks out of warranty you?re screwed. I?m not sure saving space is anywhere near worth what you lose in power and ease of maintenance, not yet, not by a long way.

I know handhelds will one day be able to run even the most highly specked games of today, but you can?t really mess about with the insides of a sealed unit like that, and although I know I may be in the minority in this, for me building the PC is half the fun.

Yeah, you could be happy with your tablet, laptop, mobile phone, iphone, PS3, XBox360, and whatever else crap. Or you could have a desktop computer instead with the advantage that:

a) It is cheaper.
b) It does not break.
c) You can't lose the fucking thing or leave it on the bus.
d) It is more powerful.
e) It is not a fad.
f) A laptop is just a pc that you move around your house.
g) Everyone can use one and customize it to suit their needs.

Yes, pc gaming is dead. But that is because it was NEVER FUCKING ALIVE TO BEGIN WITH. Strategy games and MMORPGs will always be popular and will always be on the pc, but other than that the consoles took over years ago. I only ever played Civilization and Sim City on my computer.

Both my computer, my car and my mobile phone are about ten years old. Guess what? My pc is still more powerful than all these little gadgets they keep coming up with, my car is more powerful and fuel efficient than most others, and my phone still works fine. I wish I never bought my XBox360, fucking thing keeps breaking.

I like the Star Trek phasers and the pokedex, but that doesn't mean I would actually use one in real life. I can read a book if I need entertaining, and don't tell me theres a fucking ap for that.

I'm actually not mad about the title. I'm mad about Bob wishing he could install IE and Office onto his console. Ugh, those thing are both dead.

I suspect game publishers are very much aware of the fact that DRM doesn't work, and only keep using it to piss off PC gamers and turn them to consoles. This would be a very good plan, since consoles make pirating a lot harder, to truly screw piracy you just have to make sure people stop playing on their PC. Wich also makes me think the whole "PC gaming is dying/dead" might be an awesome conspiracy by game publishers.

Wall-o-text time! I was solely a console gamer up until about 2005 when I finally got a PC capable of some gaming. Up until then, I had played games exclusively on the consoles, from the humble NES to the PS2 and Xbox, so to say that all PC gamers are just those that were never able to get a console and were therefore "stuck" with the platform is false.

Going from controller to keyboard and mouse took some time to get used to, but I fell in love. First person shooters, which were once a genre I hated when I tried console iterations like Halo and Goldeneye because of the lack of accuracy in the controls, just seemed so much more at home on the PC. The controls weren't what made me make the complete switch from console to PC, though. Once I discovered the world of modding, there was no looking back. Being able to modify my games was an amazing concept to me.

The Half-Life series was my first PC love, and through it I leaned some modding basics. Once you've edited textures, sounds, models, and toyed with the command console and configuration files, console gaming just feels somewhat limited.

I've also successfully built my first computer a few months ago to replace my aging 5 year old computer (Which DID INDEEED last 5 years. It was able to run modern games, but on lower settings) and I found that to be a very satisfying experience. I spent much less to build a gaming rig than some may lead others to believe (All the parts summed up to roughly $600. You may recall a console that released for that price which many gladly bought), and at most it may need its video card upgraded (Which will a roughly $150 purchase. Few people actually buy those $300+ cards because the cheaper ones are almost just as capable and give more bang for the buck) within the next two years to keep up with the more hardware-intensive games.

Sure, there are fewer PC-exclusives now, but there aren't many big games that are exclusive to a single platform out there anymore. Many AAA games are being released on all of the big three: PS3, 360, and PC.

This is all not to say that I've completely abandoned console gaming, but it just doesn't give me the same level of freedom with their games that the PC does. If PC gaming eventually moves to more mobile platforms like laptops (Which to an extent they already have. There's plenty of gaming-capable laptops out there), then I will move with it, but I'm sure that the core concept of PC gaming - playing games that can be modified to one's liking on an open platform - will go on.

...That is, only if all of these companies allow it to, and not contiue to limit sociotel and technological progress so they can sell us 4 devices to do one thing each, inseteacd of 1 mega super windows-xbox machine.

PC will NEVER die.
Because there shall always be porn. And opportunities to download illegal movies.
... I'm frankly disgusted that those are the sole examples I can think of right now.

No, PC gamers are just snobs. If they won't find 10 games for the PC exclusively that are extreme masterpieces with -100 flaws, they won't be happy and just go on a limb and say 'PC gaming is dea--* DERP!'.

You know this to be true. And I wonder why you didn't bring that up. But, fine.

Read the title. PC Gaming is Dead.

And by his logic, console gaming will die out as well since handhelds (looking at you, NGP) are getting as powerful as the PS3, meaning the XBox, PS3 and Wii sitting in the corner is just wasting space. But wait! Why bother with handhelds when they only play games? Lets replace them with the next iPhone for the sake of convenience as cell phones can do everything!

Herp derp console gaming is now dead.

yet if moviebob had said "Console gaming as we know it is dead" everyone (Even console gamers) would be fine with it...

I fail to see what everyone's getting so worked up about. It's an entertainment box... That's it. I was an avid PC gamer for the longest time... Obsessively upgrading video cards and tweaking settings and so forth to get the optimal experience. Then, my work made it so that PC gaming wasn't an option (I work in music production, so a mac was an absolute "must" and I wasn't about to buy a second computer - and there really never was much going on in mac gaming).

I decided to buy a console for the first time since I'd saved up lawn-mowing money to buy an NES, you know, just to see what all of the fuss was about - and you know what happened? The earth split open and the four horsemen of the apocalypse showed up and killed everybody.

Oh, no wait, that's not right at all. What I meant to say was that I found some PS3 games that were pretty fun, and did their job of keeping me entertained whenever I found myself with a few free hours to kill. And suddenly, I had a bunch more free hours, too - what with the thing just working whenever I turned it on and threw a game in there.

You know, you could say that sailing is dead since the advent of efficient motorized sea travel. This is a true statement. Sure enough, though, there are still those who spend every free moment working on their yachts and taking them out for an experience that they consider second-to-none. Fine, good for them. They can enjoy their niche hobby all they like - it won't change the facts of what's going on in the mainstream, and what's going on in the mainstream isn't going to change the facts of how they choose to spend their free time.

Oh, and two other things. 1 - Like it or not, Farmville DOES equal WOW. I played WOW for a long time, but gradually realized I was paying to have a second job, which consisted entirely of clicking on things until they did what I wanted - and that social pressure from other people playing kept me from quitting. You could replace "WOW" with "Farmville" in the last sentence, and it would work exactly the same. 2 - Anyone who claims that PC gaming online is not full of idiotic 12-year-olds either never played Counterstrike (or any of the big, online PC phenomenons), or is just plain lying. At least when I game online in the console world now, the racist, homophobic, greifing megalomaniacs that I encounter lack the mechanisms by which they can modify the game on their end in order to cheat.
