Also I understand that their trying to create a feeling of suspenceful horror, but as anyone who plays Left 4 Dead knows once you've been though 2 or 3 campaigns you know almost exactly what the zombies are going to do and it stops being frieghtening, it doesn't help that your mate is talking bullshit while you play.
I actually think that helps the L4D franchise, it is very tongue in cheek, and feels more like a Shaun of the Dead movie instead of a Romero one. And by letting you have that kinda of atmosphere where people can bullshit to each other while playing (hell even the survivors do some joking around) it helps you feel exactly right in the L4D world.
Oh I absolutely agree. I love that silly blood pumpy talking shit with your mates atmosphere. I just don't think it would of worked well in this game.

One of the great things about left 4 dead is once the fear inevitably wears off it has that crazy action packed fun to fall back on. I doubt this game would, and the crazy chat would have just felt out of place.

...Oh, to lament things that will never come to pass :(

I want this game made, or modded. :p

Looks good... though the movement reminds me of a time in Fallout 3 where I was horribly over encumbered by about 10 sets of Enclave armor, but was determined to walk to a shop where I could sell it it all. Took ages...

Slow zombies are really no longer any fun for games. And neither are slow protagonists. Also, the voice acting was pretty funny. ("You bastards! Noooooooo!")

Great concept though; scavenging and base-building would go great with zombies.

This is the kind of zombie game I've been hoping for. Guess I just have to keep hoping.

It was based on the SWAT 4 engine? Crap, now I'm imaging people voice-spamming, "You're in my way, sir." Damn you, Spoony Experiment!
"You ************! I will punch you in the Goddamn SOUL!"

Ah, love TSE. Anyways, this is a neat idea for a game. Shame to see it go, but alas, it happens.

i only got one major complaint and a minor one. the people you play as move painfully slow to me, and the voice-acting at the end was less then good. it wasn't even ok.

It looks really similar to Swat 4. Identical in places.

Looks good though. Almost makes me want to go into the other dimension where it was made.

If not for the mutant frogs.
The mutant frogs are nothing compareed to the Honey Badgers.

I'm betting if they released a demo to gauge public interest, it would go like wildfire. Of course, he could just be teasing with this so that interest is piqued in the game for when/if it comes out later this year...

Since I liked neither Bioshock nor Left 4 Dead, and this sounds like a slightly toned-down version of the way I would have handled the same kind of concept...yeahhh...

Damn, what a shame. I would love this for the atmosphere and the fact that I enjoy even technically mediocre zombie fiction, and I think a lot of people who didn't like Left 4 Dead for its lack of realism might have been more satisfied with this.

Oh well...
Of course, I think someone made a "survival" mod for it. Which eliminated bots, slowed the zombies' movement considerably (while boosting their health and getting rid of most of the special infected), and tweaking a lot of the weapons... and I think a beta version of it added something that functioned a bit like the melee weapons in L4D2 (without the new gore effects obviously).

I want that game.

I'd pick it over Left 4 Dead
I was thinking that too... this seems to actually be scary and have a story, the zombies seem quite realistic as well... as real as zombies get anyway...

Which is VERY real!
Wait, how would you know it has a story, zombies are never realistic just stereotypical, and how realistic is a game where grown men move at the speed of an old lady?

Feh. I liked Bioshock.

I think this game for Bioshock and Left 4 Dead (and Left 4 Dead 2 I guess) seems like a fair trade.
