"Well there goes any element of surprise we may have had." Jack said as he unsheathed his sword
before seeing Martin fall down the stairs.

"Well seeing as Martin has just proved to have the grace of a spooked horse, I will go ahead and pick up where he left off." Jack chuckled as he spoke and moved up the stairs to continue searching.

Figuring that the third floor would be just as barren as the second and first, he decided to head up to the shack.

"If someone should decide to join me, I will be heading up to the only place that seems to have any life in it in the district."

"Next time you feel like being direct can you do it when I'm not the one doing the dangerous work" grumbled Martin, still hurting from his fall.
"Gods that was embarrasing. I can't believe i fell down the stairs" he muttered to himself.
"Anyone got any food?" he asked "some wine would be nice too".

"Well this is just wonderful. They are all going to go ahead and get piss drunk." Jack grumbled

Jack made his way up the floors and walked to the shack's door.

"Hello is anyone in there?" Jack asked as he knocked on the door.

"One of us needs to make some kind of progress, and if they are going to get plastered, then I guess the responsibility falls to me." he said quietly to himself.

"Oh dear sweet lord in heaven, just what I needed. A drunk child with a volume control problem." Jack muttered to himself.

Knocking on the door again he called out.
"If anyone is in the shack open up, my patience is wearing thin and I am seriously considering just breaking your door in!"

No problem man, you can drop back in at any time.
Blaze remember your still on the 2nd floor not the shack, just because I don't want this to fly-by.

Jack, on the second story and knocking on a door, was surprised when a response came.

"What? More of those stick ones are you? Oh no, no no no, no sir E. Won't be getting passed THIS door without the password." The voice seemed to belong to a sprightly yet old man.

"Look I am with the guards and I need to ask about a few things that are of great importance to the empire now open up."

I thought I had said I went up to the shack. Did I forget to put that in any of my previous posts?

Sorry if I hadn't.

Edit: just checked and it is in my post just before World of Dragons, sorry it wasn't clearer.
2nd Edit:at least what everyone has said up until this point still works.

"Oh god damn it, you...will you just please be quiet?" Jack asked quietly
"Look I am wondering if you know of any around that barricade in the street. Just tell me what you know and I will be on my way." Jack said trying to get the person on the other side of the door to speak.

"Ooh, see the barricade go up I did." The man snickered. "Saw those turn coat guards, too. Damn traitors! But they stabbed up their fellow so nicely it's hard not to admire them." He giggled some more. "Oh yes, saw them kill him in cold blood I did. Why don't you come up? I'm sure it's been a long walk. You'll find the key to this door in the drawer of the desk to your left."

To their left, there was a desk with a mirror looking at whomever were to sit at the chair. It was at the other end of a hallway with doors on either side, both facing each other.

Sounds of footsteps came from the other side of the door, the sound of the old man walking away and creaking his way up a flight of stairs.

"He can be as crazy as he wants as long as we get the intel we need."

Jack said as he searched the dresser and retrieved the key. He unlocked the door and entered.

"Thank you sir, my name is Jack. My drunken friend here is called Alec, feel free to ignore him, as he isn't all here at the moment." He said as he bowed to the man.

"Now you said something about someone being killed, could you tell us anything you know about that please? If you also happen to know anything about that barricade or how to get around it, we would be extremely grateful."

<spoiler=OOC>I haven't posted in a while, I've been busy, and content with reading quickly.
I'll be gone for six days, leaving tomorrow.

So I'll do a catch-up post when I get back, and then start posting regularly again.

OOC: Okay, that's good of you to let us know. We'll hold down the fort while you're gone ;)

OOC: Haha, so it t'would seem. He can join if he'd so like. Apart from that, the suspension wasn't exactly your fault, and after reading it I feel like some people just have a phobia but who knows. I've never been on a forum that has this whole temp. ban shtick.

OOC: As I implied, he went up the stairs.

IC:

Jack opened the door to find a chest-high cabinet tucked against the side of a long stair case. There was also a dagger on top of the cabinet. From above, he could here the squeeking of footfalls as the man made his way across the floor above.

Following the man Jack said "Look he is nuts, but he's also our only lead right now, and if he knows something that can help us I am willing to take the risk. You need not stay with me if you are uncomfortable, but I will not be leaving until I get some form of answers."

He continued in silence until he reached the top of the stairs

"I'm sorry to be bothering you but I need answers to the questions I asked on my way in. So I say again, if you have any answers, please just tell us so we might be on our way." Jack said loudly

turning to Alec he said "I am going to be cautious, but between my armor, my shield, sword, and training, I do believe I can handle a single person in plain clothes without any real formidable weapon. So if anyone should be worried it is you, my drunken comrade."

"Yes, yes, right this way!" Came the voice of the old man on the third floor.

The stairs came out in a corner of the third floor.

On the third floor, there were holes in the floor everywhere. Though there was a layer of floor below it, that floor was the ceiling of the level below. Stepping on which would most likely result in the foot of it's owner plummeting through. There seemed to be one clear path, that hooked left and then right.

This path, however, looked stale enough only to let one person go at a time.

There are windows along the front of the room, letting sunlight in.

The old man is on the opposite corner, on a square that seems quite solid and large with a pull down attic stair way opened.

"Hehehe, come this way! Mind your steps, now." The old man said to the first person up the stairs.
