The patch is for everyone who plays WoW. The Cataclysm expansion only unlocks the new races and content above level 80.

true that, I hate the alliance purely for lore reasons especially Wrynn. Thrall has got to be one of the most reasonable leaders in the story, he's worked so hard to get both factions work together for the common good. When the betrayal of Varimathras and the Forsaken occured at the wrath gate, rather than act rationally, Wrynn declared war on the horde because his friend Fordragon died. He was willing to risk total annihilation at the hands of Arthas just for his own petty revenge.

No, if you played the Alliance Wrathgate side, you would know that the reason Wyrnn doesn't like the Horde is because they locked him up like an animal and made him fight in their arenas for the amusement of the Horde and still wants his revenge.

that may be true, but Varian didn't even know who he was at the time let alone the orcs who found him. He was eventually sent back to Jaina in order to restore his memory. I'm not justifying them forcing him to fight as a gladiator, just saying that they should put aside their differences in order to fight a greater threat, Thrall doesn't hold a grudge for being imprisoned at Durnholde or for the orcs being forced into a prison camps

I would like to point out that you mention 1 and 2, not 3. Since warcraft 3 thrall has been wanting change and relations to be mended ever since Grom sacrificed himself to free his people from the blood haze. Thrall seems more like a pacifist and only fights when it's necessary.

So Outland and Northrend are still the same? Might feel odd to do 60 levels of "OH MY GOD THE WORLD IS DYING" followed by 20 levels of NPCs who act like nothing's changed. Or did they do something about that too? That's not a new problem when it comes to WoW expansions, but it'd be nice if they figured out a solution.

Definitely. I feel like that's what will create WoW's decline eventually. Unless Blizzard revamps everything with every new addition, it's always going to feel fragmented and disconnected. But that's what happens when new content is based around epic, world-changing events. You either have them go on indefinitely, which makes players feel like they're not making a difference, or you "end" them story-wise and then the content feels superfluous and unimportant.

In patch 4.03a, said Stockton, players would log in to the game and be shown the Cataclysm introduction cinematic....All of the zones will have been irrevocably changed, flying mounts will no longer be grounded in the old world

Not according to Wowhead [http://www.wowhead.com/blog=174106/the-shattering-patch-4-0-3a-hits-azeroth-its-the-end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it]... realms aren't up yet so can't be sure.
