My best friends fiance and my ex both go/went to an all girls school, so I know what it's like to be leered at, I also know what it's like to be condemned as a terrible evil person because of my gender.
I'm not really sure if you are trying to say I think that men are terrible people, cause I dont.

Also, yeah, some guys do get leered at, its usually not quite the same as women, but I should have included that. I have edited it.
I apologize, I was not saying that you think men are terrible people, I was just including the other side of the leered at spectrum.

Legs and hips are indications of beauty while breasts in our culture are indications of sexual beauty as well as regular beauty. Being caught checking out a girl's shape equates mote as a "Hey I find you attractive" sort of statement, while being caught staring at a woman's cleavage is closer to, "I'd totally be jacking off to you right now if I could."

EDIT:

Also your example isn't a double standard. The likely situation is that you're not very good looking, while the football players probably are better looking. They're certainly more dominant and in better shape, she's just appealing to the better mates.

I mean, who are you going to be more careful about offending, the guy you want to bang or the guy you don't want to bang?
man, that's totally a double standard. It's okay if hot guys do it, but not ugly guys. That's text book double standard

I also should have included that I understand what you were saying and that being leered at is very uncomfortable. And my case is rare, it really only happens at the all girls school, and only because of the type of people who go to all girls schools

Heh.
I went to an all-girls school.
I never wanted to, but my mum wouldn't let me go to the local one with boys because it was a `Slut factory`.
But I totally know what you mean, all girls schools can be like prison. xD

Can't we just use freaks or weirdos as a blanket statement?

It's true what you say about women having doube standards, I went to a theme park with three of my female friends, one of whom was wearing a very short skirt, but for some reason I got their annoyance for wearing a mildly clevage-revealing top. Maybe it's just jealousy (I am somewhat better endowed than most of my friends)

As for the woman's double standards? I imagine it's to do with the fact that the girl in the picture you were looking at is a) unrealistically proportioned. Even as an anime fan myself I have to ask how any man will ever look at me twice if that's the kind of girl he idealises - whereas I at least have a chance of looking like a model in a magazine some day so that doesn't irk me half as much. And b) it's pretty much socially acceptable to look at 'lads mags' whereas it's not quite so acceptable to look up anime girls just for their breasts as this woman doubtlessly thought you were, she probably just saw the character's chest size and jumped to the conclusion that that was the only reason for you to be looking at it.

My (all-girls school) was known locally as "The Whore House on the Hill" - nice, huh? ;O) Didn't feel like a prison, mainly becuase it was on 4 different sites, so we'd have to change sites at least once a day, maybe more, BUT having that many bitchy, hormonally-challenged pubescent girls concentrated in a small area was rarely fun for the 7 years I was there!

By the way OP: Know that phrase "bitches be crazy?" tis funny cause it's true! I'd bet women wouldn't be so sensitive about them if they weren't so bloody OBVIOUS, and in some people's case, sodding awkward. Le sigh.

Tits or legs. you can have one matching pair out at a time, but not both. Low top + short skirt = slaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag. Apparently. (Converting to Islam and/or wearing a burqa would solve the ogling problems, but prob. not the being stared at problem.)

Now imagine and all girls college (which is what this was) where most of the girls had a person reason to go there, and only 20% or so went there for financial reasons, or because the school had the program they desired.

I was almost on your side until you posted the video near the end. Now I don't know if you're admitting to being obsessed or just trying to make an additional statement.

She was probably bent out of shape because that picture depicts an unrealistically proportioned woman. This was probably amplified being that the woman isn't real but an Animated Character.

So the thought process may be: Artificially created female + Probably drawn or Designed by a man = Male Fantasy, Unrealistic Woman.

At the very least, the women in that magazine are real, regardless of if they may have had their breasts done. Or maybe it was just as bad and she didn't happen to notice.

Whatever the case, her argument is valid.
I'm betting the women in their magazine were quite artificial as well.

I don't think even these biggest Japanese love pillow raping weirdo thinks that they will ever find someone proportioned like an anime character. Also, he said that the picture was just what was on the wiki page. Not that he actively sought the picture to silently rub himself through his pocket.

As the now ex-girlfriend of a severe anime fan I can safely tell you that yes, some men do indeed expect to find women who look like that.

Also I'm aware that's not why he was looking it up, but the woman in his story didn't know that hence why I phrased it such. *edits her post* There we go, hopefully it won't get misinterpreted now :)

Just wanted to throw this out there:
A study looked at where men look on girls during porn, and found that most of the time they were looking at their face.

I did mention the potential of them having surgery.

There is also the stronger likelihood of it being doctored by a graphic designer. It is still just as likely that these women are natural. You don't really know unless you see the picture.

That isn't the point though. You can only push an image of a real woman so far before people go "This is obviously fake". A drawing on the other hand isn't based on reality. It is conceived and designed.

Someone viewing a drawing of a big chested woman stands out because it was designed to be perverted. However, a woman that just so happens to have a big chest is not necessarily perverted unless she poses provocatively or had surgery done. Stating it once more, it could have been a perfectly normal woman in a bikini. It's an empty speculation.

Regardless, one is designed the other 'is". One is more obviously controlled than the other.

Or women with hips.
Women with hips are my fetish. I love a woman with a standard skeleton structure.

OT: I don't really care for tits that much, they're just kind of filler. I'm more of a leg man myself.

I can hazard a guess as to why women get bent out of shape about it, though. It probably has something to do with the apparent obsession with them, they get a lot more attention than the rest of the body from a lot of people.

Consider them the MLP of anatomy. Yeah, there are a lot of shows that people obsess over just as much, but MLP gets more attention than most and is now hated by a lot of people for it. How I Met Your Mother would be the legs of course.

Forlong said:
Instinctively, most men are very attracted to large breasts.
The obsession for boobs is actually relatively new [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breast_fetishism], rather than being something born out of instinct. Boobs are only shaped the way they are because we have stupidly shaped mouths. Check out apes, most have round mouths and only nipple.

Oh he's one of those people that we anime fans don't talk about. The kind that doesn't just have love pillow sex, but love pillow orgies with multiples different pillows. I'm going to have to ask that you pretend that it never happened, pretend you never knew him, and just let my team take care of this. You saw nothing.

Also, apologies for the misinterpretation :)

I see what you're saying but I take issue with the idea that the fact that a character drawn with large breasts is perverse by default. To suggest that is to suggest that large breasts are inherently perverse. Are the majority of large-breasted characters given large breasts for mostly sexual reason? You bet. But it's not impossible for a character to just have a large bust. Please note I'm refering to "normal" large not cartoonishly large.

I don't think breasts are more 'off-limits' than most other parts of the female body, but they are more noticeable than the vagina, and even if a woman is wearing a moderate amount of clothing, you can at least get an idea of how big they are, and compare different women based on their 'assets'.Comparing vaginas, though, requires more research.

Also both men and women have asses, so it's not as much of a 'female' thing.

But I guess some women feel like they are being constantly sized up and judged based on the size of their cleavage, and while the society is similarly obsessed with the size of men's genitals, you'd have to wear a rather revealing clothing for the size difference to show.

I like breasts myself, but I like them reasonably-sized, and think the idea of 'bigger-the-better' is silly.

As for the OP, I think the woman was being rude, it's not like you were bothering her. If you were minding your own business, why should she care?
