2008 - Vince Young - Got off light because he was a rookie. Only missed one game, but it was the first time in his carrier he missed a game due to injury.

It's an interesting thing.
Is Vince Young clinically depressed though? Lost his starting job and respect around the league - curse in full effect.

I don't want to see Fitzgerald hurt but I'd settle for a poor percentage season as my team is in the NFC West and he's a beast.

Why don't they take advantage of this? If you got a curse that makes it so whoever you put on the cover of Madden meets misfortune, then your probably the luckiest f*%$ing person on the entire planet.

Vicks conviction for dog fighting: curse or stupidity?

I'm still rooting for the Vikes this year, they never fail to disappoint.

I miss John Randle...

To be honest, i think they deserve it, but thats mostly cause i hate sports stars in general. something is profoundly wrong with getting enough money to feed a small town worth of homeless for chasing after bound pieces of leather or cloth, or hitting them with various objects.

Here's hoping the madden curse stays strong for years to come, hopefully until these people stop posing for it and the game falls into obscurity like any game that is basically a rehash of the same game you bought a year ago should.
Troy gives so much back to community and is one of the gentlest people on Earth. Do a little research before you go spouting out that people DESERVE to be injured like that. I'm sorry your puny ass got picked on by jocks in high school, but talking like that makes you just as bad. Wishing pain and injury on a person is pathetic.

That was last year Bassatti, quit living in the past. Its a whole new season. You guys barely won last night. Talk to me week 15 when you guys are 6-8.
Where I come from, "brah", dems fightin' words >:D
Anyone up for starting an Escapist 2009 Super Bowl Thread, and bet/etc. on who is gonna win? It's not a big surprise, though. Everyone knows them Iron City Boys are gonna take what is ours >:D
Also, Vikings. Their only flaw last year was no QB. As much as I hate him, Favre is a decent QB.

The Vikes are choke artists. Always have been, always will be. As a Minnesotan, I tried my best to put my faith in them, but they have done nothing but let me down.

Yeah right. You seem to have a lot of fate in The Patriots xD
Packers are shit, and won't get close. Patriots will get close, but get their chance nabbed away.
The pack is my sleeper team, no one else in the NFC comes cloes. Vikings are going to break down like Favre tends to do at the end of the season, who else is there Bears? Broncos? All the south teams are a mess. Also as for the Pats, theyre not my fav but Bradys got something to prove and they always have a super under-rated defense.
How about the Giants, Eagles, Redskins, Bears, Vikings, Cowboys, Falcons, Saints, and Panthers (not seeing how the last three are a mess)? I'd take any of them ahead of the Packers. Everyone is hyping up the Pack and Aaron Rodgers because of the pre-season, which makes absolutely no sense. The Lions went 4-0 last season. Just sayin'. I expect Rodgers to decrease in production slightly (which should still make him a top 10 NFL QB), but I'd put money on the fact that Ryan Grant will get 1400+ yards on the ground.

The strangest thing is that I'm actually a Packers fan. I guess I'm just super pessimistic?

PS: Broncos are in the AFC and hilariously awful :)

wasn't this curse debunked a while ago as a load of crap?
I think the idea is that it's not so much a curse as it is just what happens - people playing pro football do tend to get injured one way or another, regardless of whether they're on a game cover or not.

But I believe in the Curse.
it just points out how dangerous football is

What was the last cover-star on Madden injured?
It was Brett Favre, remember? I guess he wasn't injured, but that whole "comeback" thing didn't go to well as far as I can remember.
Oh my god I live in Wisconsin and his whole I wanna retire now I dont want to reire now I want to retire now I dont want to retire now I want to retire and now I dont want to retire x50 made me want to smash my head into a wall again and again and again. Especially since EVERYBODY was on his side and it was litterally everywhere. I am so glad they said fuck you we are tired of your shit and gave him to somebody else. Wasnt so bad but then he did it again. when will the man learn.

Sorry I just kinda needed to rant about that.

yeah, but then musicians being paid millions to play guitar or actors being paid even more to pretend to be someone else is equally ridiculous. it's all ridiculous.

Feh, I don't believe in curses, but if there is one, someone should put Michael Vic on the front of Madden 11.

The lions went 4-0 last season? Which lions were you watching, cos the ones the rest of ameirca saw weht 0-16. Falcons will put too much emphasis on their QB to have that amazing rookie season he had, which he probably wont, even so it wasnt enough to go all the way. Michael Turner has lost ground because of the 370 rule, which i think is rather stupid but the stats speak for themselves. I completely forgot about the Skins, they might actually be rather good, im not placing anything down on them yet since they have been so disappointed the last 4 years. Carolina, im still not sold on either, the way Jake Delhomme ended his season last year was terrifying, he still has to prove himself. Finally the saints ive never had much faith in, They have faced decreasing production from its top recievers and Reggie Bush is a complete bust, in my mind. They need a few more consistant parts to really get going.
Kay, but that still leaves the Bears, Vickings, Giants, Eagles, Cowboys, Seahawks and others. You could make the same one-line arguments against every team in the NFL, if you wanted to. I won't touch on all of your arguments, but calling Reggie Bush a bust is absurd. He hasn't developed into the God he was labeled as at USC, but he's had over 3.5 yards per carry every season in his career, and has had around 1000 all-purpose yards every year. And plus, he's split time/missed time.

And the Lions went 4-0 in the 2008 pre-season. I think the rest of America is missing the facts that the pre-season is entirely useless to evaluate a team. Evaluating players is another story (Aaron Rodgers), but to say that the Packer's defense will definitely be fantastic based on watching them in the pre-season is a flat-out lie.
