I listen to anything that's awesome...

Right now that's Korn, Avenged Sevenfold, Sum 41 and throw in some classic Spineshank for good measure.

Cookie to anyone who's heard of Spineshank before now.
*blows brains out with shotgun after sliting wrists and is made into album cover* "cookie to anyone who catches that reference" not my cup of tea.
Mayhem? Whose band also made skull fragment necklaces from the leftovers?
Legend has it they made stew out or their dead friend's brain.
I was unaware of that part. I like the legend even more, now.

I'm almost offended that it took 28 posts for someone to mention Iron Maiden in a Metal thread.

Just kidding, but in all seriousness, mostly Iron Maiden for me.

As for what I DON'T like, metalcore. Ugh. Five Finger Death Punch and Bullet For My Valentine really are loathsomely bad. And the FANS.
But let's not forget deathcore and how br00tal the stupid fanboys think they are. Most of them are even worse than a typical metalcore band.

I just realized that your avatar is the cover art for Vital Remains' "Dechristianize". Infidel is a great track.

Also Five Finger Death Punch isn't that bad... though BFMV annoys me right now.

I'm not as into metal as I used to be.
In my earlier teens I was into a lot of metal but no I have backed off it quite a lot and moved onto a lof of rock and "alternative" music.

I still listen to bands like Dream Theater, Opeth, Mastadon, Machine Head, Daath, DevilDriver and Metallica.

I've already answered in a similar thread, so I'll do what I usually do, put everything in cataegories.

Death Metal: Bloodbath, Death, Morbid Angel, Suffocation, Atheist, Behemoth, Coldworker, Decapitated, Deicide, Decrepit Birth, Dying Fetus, The Faceless

Black Metal: Mayhem, Marduk, Burzum, Gorgoroth, Anaal Nathrakh, Wolves in the Throne Room

Melodic Death Metal: In Mourning, Insomnium, Gorod

Deathcore: The Contortionist, Permillisecond, the Plasmarifle, The Acacia Strain (guilty pleasure of mine), After the Burial, From the Shallows

Progressive: Between the Buried and Me, Opeth, Gojira, Garden of Shadows, Meshuggah, Kylesa, Iron Thrones, Neuraxis, The Ocean, Portal, Strapping Young Lad, Soreption, Trap Them, Volumes, Welkin, From A Second Story Window, Dillinger Escape Plan, Cynic

Post-Metal: Neurosis, Isis, Intronaut, Rosetta, Callisto

Metalcore: Converge, Botch, August Burns Red, The Binary Code

Instrumental: Blotted Science, Scale the Summit, Dysrhythmia

Old School: Iron Maiden, Slayer, Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth

I know that you put two videos into each Spoiler box.And I like the fact that you had Napalm Death there in the Grindcore spoiler. But not having Carcass there is a disgrace to the genre.

I'd say Gorod is more technical death metal than it is melodic. Also, BTBAM is an amazing band.

Ah, that's unfortunate, then. It sucks to lose a vocalist in that genre, considering the derision you get from other vocalists. Interestingly enough, after a small display of the vocal style to a conventional singer, he thought it was great.

As to the cores, I've given them a fair chance and like a few songs by a couple of them. Though, as you say, it's best to avoid them, if you can.

True. Not all deathcore is bad though...BMTH is death metal for You Me At Six fans, but whatever.

Sadly not, Dublin 02 Arena. Still psyched though.
I really hate Death Punch. The singer and bassist are complete morons. Music is crap generic metalcore, and the lyrics are either whiny or skull numbingly macho. So yeah. X_X

Don't like most cores. Mathcore and grindcore are good, but other than that...Corpsegrinder scares me (HIS NECK IS THICKER THAN HIS HEAD. WHAT. THE. FUCK) and I don't really like Cannibal Corpse. Prefer Carcass or Morbid Angel. I made the point about deathcore earlier.

Love the metal, been into it since the nineties. yes by comparison to most of you ... I'm old.

@ Games b2: Spineshank is the shit, their new project, Silent Civilian, is also quite good.

@ Furburt: Your classifacation of industrial is a bit off. Industrial is metal and electronic music smashed together in a 25 to 75 ratio respectively. see bands such as Agonoize or Feindflug for epitome examples.

Glad to see the metal spirit is still alive in you youngins, I thought that genre may die with my generation.

As an aside there is a great metal station based out of seaton hall NJ called WSOU you can stream it on their page WSOU.net during the day they have a pretty solid lineup.
