Interesting survey to take, considering I can be self-absorbed at times, but also understand the value of modesty. Many of the questions they asked didn't really fit either of my views?I'll readily admit that "my body is nothing special", for instance (at least from the neck down ;D), but I also "like to look at my body". Still, I think there's merit in asking questions that don't fit, as they encourage you to think hard about it. It definitely leaves those in the mushy middle out to dry though.

I'm sorry, but I didn't really see how that's correct, I see myself as average in pretty much everything. The quiz itself was too long and could be cut in half simply by removing all the doubles of questions. If those doubles were replaced with new ones, maybe, but still.

Woah, the Escapist record so far! Not a particularly good test though since it can't differentiate between someone who erroneously believes they are better than others and someone who actually is better, and it would be dead easy to get a low score by deliberately answering the "modest" answers. Okay, I AM superior to most people. You can pretty well empirically prove that. I'm just extremely fortunate to be blessed in most regards. Nonetheless, I'm modest as hell about it in practice (except on The Escapist, where I turn my social filtering system almost entirely OFF).

Exploitativeness...the test asked me what I CAN do. I CAN manipulate most people with ease....but I don't. I'm super honest, and that pretty much means people are left to their own devices. Most of my manipulation the last 3 years has been focused on subtly directing my friend's attention to highlight certain facts about her life, herself, and the people around her, in the interests of crushing her self-doubt, building her confidence in her various talents, and making her realize that certain people are having hugely negative effects on her life.
She is MASSIVELY more confident and mature than she was a couple years ago, and she's finally let herself loose to do what she wants to do and not be insecure about what people might say about it.
Currently working on getting her to accept that she genuinely has some serious artistic ability (she thinks she sucks).
Then I only have the one last major hurdle - getting her to understand what literally EVERYONE ELSE aware of the situation knows.....that her boyfriend is a complete jackass and is terrible to her.


I'm all "Spider-Man" about what I -can- do. Great power, great responsibility. For example, I'm a very good liar, but unless there's a fairly serious need for it, I'm dead honest.
Today I told my other friend (who is like an alternate universe female version of me) that her tits were fucking awesome because she was feeling self-conscious about them. And, since she knows I'm just being honest, she cheered right up.

I find the credibility that comes with honesty to be a much more powerful tool than any web of lies.....but it also happens to make your powers of deception that much more powerful when you really need them (assuming you're any good at it).

I don't care if you're arrogant and just THINK you're amazing, or just confident because you genuinely ARE amazing.
In the end, I think what really matters is that you try and apply your powers/abilities/skills/talents/gifts/etc, real or imagined, to noble pursuits.
As long a you try and do good things for the world or the people around you....I don't care how amazing you think you are or aren't.
