OMG, guys! Your servers are absolutely shitting their kidneys attempting to deliver this site, now. I've been to sites 10 times more complex and graphics heavy than this and never had enough time to go make a sandwich between page loads like I do with this redesign for the Escapist. I'm not sure what has been done on the backend, but I really think this new version of the site needs to be brought down for some serious optimizations.
I'm simply refuting your claim that the feedback wasn't heard or responded to. It was, you're just upset that the thing you deem most important wasn't addressed in the way you wanted it to be. Only thing I don't like is the massive white colour background, please allow me to change it in my profile settings. It's really hurting my eyes.
Possible lag solution
Clearing my chase with Ctrl + F5 on Firefox worked for me. Now it seems to run as... well as before.

But in the two threads discussing this, the background is still the number one complaint aside from "Gah! Change!". So obviously, I'm not alone. I can handle everything else. I'm ok with the changes, except for the background.Nasrin said:

I hate to say it 'cause you've all clearly put a lot of effort in to make it this, but I don't like. At all. It makes the text look horrible.
Maybe it's got something to do with the fact that I have Windows 93 desktop (I think windows 93 anyway, whatever one gives the best performance) seeing as I haven't seen anyone else complain about this yet.

I've been hitting up the escapist multiple times daily, for years.
The new design is a deal breaker for me.
It's been said by others, better. Eye-bleeding white, cramped, boring, loads slow, etc. It's all been said prior. I can't believe that they worked on this overhaul for six months-- if they'd said they'd given six DAYS, I would wonder if five of those were spent playing ping pong.
I was content to use the old site pubClub button, but oh look, that's broken too.
What's been done to this site is a tragedy.

I'm liking it but could use a bit more of the hot colors (yellow, red, orange). There's only the "Notice a bug" section that pops out. You should have more sections colored like that.
I like the move away from warm colors and pastels. That's the safe route and every god damn site on earth tends to use those colors.

Is there any way to change the color scheme of the Escapist? Because some of us don't like being blinded by a GIANT PAGE OF BRIGHT WHITE. Shiny is right, I can barely stand looking at the Escapist now. I had to shrink my browser down to minimum reading size because of how bright it is.
PLEASE tell me there's a way to change the background color to at least grey or something, this is killing me.
What about a nice tan? You all seem to like blue, why not set the background to a light (or dark) blue? I don't know how much time I could spend on this website now, it's seriously hurting my eyes.

I appreciate the work you put into this Escapist Staff, and i`m grateful for the thought, but in my opinion the site actually looks and operates worse now. The layout is bland and completely devoid of any life, the forums/videos/entire site now takes significantly longer to load.
