I cannot express enough hate for all this. This is probably going to kill my reading of this site just like Gawker's which looks alot like this, killed my reading of Kotaku simply because the design is horrible. The news on both the front page and the news page is clutter and confusing. Why would you pin news stories on the news page? That is what the front page is for not the news page. Plus is is hard to navigate through the news since there is only page down no page up. The white and bright blue makes my eyes hurt after a minute so even when I find something I want to read, I can't read it because of eye pain. Also I was just starting to enjoy the facebook comments at the bottom and now you have made them tiny and annoying to read through. If you guys disliked your website this much to pull a Gawker why not just shut it down?
Honestly, I feel like this design is going in a backwards direction.
Someone mentioned it before, and it did make sense, and its what I thought. When I refreshed the page and it came up, I seriously thought it was what happens when my browser doesnt want to load everything, and loads only the essential. Seriously, that isnt good.
Now another thing is the white. Not just the middle, but the borders. I lovvvvvveeeedddd the blue borders. They were extremely easy on the eyes and calming to look at. Now its just facebook like. I dont want no facebook in my escapist. Heck, im using facebook less because of all the stuff their doing to it.
The front page makes me sad face to. I used to be able to come on the front page and find nearly ANYTHING I wanted. It was great to see the new things just lined up at the top. Now it looks... funky... cluttered... out of place.
I commend you on your work, but my opinion is this was a backstep. I wonder if these comments will mean much either. Heres hoping that they do.

Too white and too bright! And the visual design for the first page is offputting, I wasn't sure where to look or how to parse it.
And it looks like you've done away with the series index? I see no way to access stuff like Stolen Pixels, Top Five, There Will Be Brawl, or anything you've ever done not being updated RIGHT NOW. Yes, this is a news site, and the most recent stuff is important, but you've fallen into the modern fad of giving us OMGNEWCONTENT on the front page and then burying everything more than a month old.

The white is blinding, the tiny pictures are a bit shoddy looking and its a bit crowded for my attention. Other than that its actually going ok.
It's alright, I guess. I like the toolbar at the top instead of the tabs of videos going all the way down the page. I'm not hugely bothered by the colour scheme, but it's not so good in the threads, where there are no pictures - looks more plain.
What I don't like is that on the homepage, there are loads of links to a load of old articles and videos. I would rather they had all the up to date links up there rather than at the bottom of the page. Oh, and what that 'Games' box at the bottom right with WoW and ToR mentioned and what does 'MOR' mean?
I guess I'll get over most of it, but I really like the toolbar, so I'm happy.

Page still hasn't managed to load for me, and I've tried on three different computers. Also I can't seem to find the method of quickly searching through news. I would often check escapist at the end of the day and open all the news stories/videos I was interested in. Now I can't tell what is new and what is old and even worse the captions that informed my choice have been reduced to HUGE TITLES which really doesn't tell me much. Maybe in a week or so when I've gotten used to it, this will look better, but the loading thing needs to be fixed.
Ok I think it may be livable. It looks crap on my netbooks 1024x600 pixels so I guess my visits will be less frequent. If you could have a look at smaller screens (not iOS devices) you might find some tweaks.
My real problem is the font used in the articles and in the hot topics feed and such. I have Ctrl plussed and minussed all to no avail, the font remains jaggy and indistinct, almost impossible to read. The forum font is fine, but if I can't read the articles what is the point of the Escapist if I can't read the articles? I need to see if it is the same on my desktop, but most of my access is via the good old netbook.

Too bright, also the font on the navbar pops up like a zit on greasy teens forehead.
Now for constructive comments.
Perhaps blue bars either side of the main column, same color as the footer/header backgrounds, something to remove all the headache inducing whitespace.
Second, remove whatever text effect is occuring on mouse over on the navbar, just do it. It's horrible and unprofessional looking.
As for load times I assume this is par for the course with having to wipe the caches.
