Way to Fall, by Starsailor.

Here's an Advent Children movie set to the song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gk1W20MA2gU

"Oh, I've got something in my throat,

I need to be alone,

While I suffer"

We politely utter the first line to excuse ourselves, and silently think the latter. Sounds emo in text format, but sharply honest and humble when sung by him.

Hurt covered by Johnny Cash http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmVAWKfJ4Go. The man is a music legend.
Music video is amazing. Like a man who has everything realizing it's nothing at all.

sorry to get scientific but statistically the saddest song is called "Gloomy Sunday" because it has led to hundreds of people committing suicide
Source or I have to say that's not true. That is a rumor as far as I know.

Lover, You Should Have Come Over: Jeff Buckley.
A Change Is Gonna Come: Otis Redding
Janie Got A Gun: Aerosmith
Hundreds more but those three would be taken to a desert island with me.

It's true apparently. The song was banned until reletively recently. Damned if Ican find a copy, though.
Ella Fitzgerald did a rendition.

The song "Chou", from Fatal Frame 2.
Tsukiko Amano's voice is so haunting, and when you know the lyrics and how they are in context to the game, I can't NOT tear up when I hear the song.

Which reminds me...

Stay With Me by Lorraine Ellison is the most gut wrenching ballad you've never heard. You Tube it and tell me I'm wrong...

My friend told me she thought it was sad. You should judge for yourselves.

I almost cried waterfalls when that began playing when the credits rolled for MGS3.

Also, Radiohead's 'How to Disappear Completely' always gets me down.

Hello by Evanescence
My Immortal by Evanescence

Something about Amy Lee's voice

And of course Hurt covered by Johnny Cash (I've always preferred NIN's version but Cash seems to put alot more emotion into it whilst Trent Reznor creates a more haunting or chilling feel throughout the song)

I've always found Hero of War [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAG1i3JfUvA] by Rise Against to be heart-wrenching.

Likewise, Long Live The Queen [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RbNdwY4ujw&feature=related] by Frank Turner brings a limp to my throat.
