Half-Life one.

So, until 2 years ago, I couldn't give two shits about gaming. A new day dawned, however, when this guy came to my class, and he was a very avid gamer. I started hanging with him, he would eventually mention games, I became more and more curious, when I finally bought counter-strike source. By dwelling in forums, I found out about half-life. Me, eager to learn more about games, downloaded it and played it. Took me two days to beat the game, and in the end of those two days I could not move. From there on, I just played the second one, and pretty much the reason I'm here is because of Valve.

Funny captcha: oksomes débuts. Well, I am waiting to see Capitain America.

Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask, it was love at first sight, just the idea of being able to change forms into all these different creatures was like a dream come true at the time, it may well have been the first propper video game i played, can't remember, point is though that my love for it survived to this day, i bought it online at it's just as fun as i remember ^_^

Definitely Dragon's Fury for the Sega Genesis. That was probably the first game I begin to really train, mainly because both my parents loved it.

Fire by Nintendo in the game & watch series.
You had to bounce these people who were jumping out of a burning building (on the left side of the screen) into a waiting ambulance on the other side of the screen.

Nothing else to do - yet so compelling and so addictive.
I could play it for hours.

Something on the Sega Megadrive? I think?

The first game I really remember though was Mario Kart 64 with the N64. It was a christmas gift and I'd wanted it for ages, my family was in pretty dire straits before then and it was the first christmas we had any real money to spend. I was very young at the time so I didn't know this.
What I did know was the awesome that ensued. It's probably fair to say that Sonic may have got me into gaming originally but it was definitely the Nintendo 64 which solidified it as awesomeness in my eyes.

Well I have two. Hardly the first games I played, but certainly the ones that got me into gaming

Final Fantasy IV: I played this game in 2000, when FFX came out. I saw FFX on tv, but I didnt have a PS2, so I went to the video store and got FFIV, since it was in the same series. Really showed me how interesting and compelling a videogame could be. Granted I only got up to fighting the boss right before you get the Paladin Sword (could not defeat this guy), before I had to return it. Last year I got the DS version, got up to that point, defeated the boss. I was so happy id be able to see Cecil's Paladin form....

And he turned into a bloody woman.

That aside, Crash Team Racing showed me how fun games can be with friends. I spent hours playing 4 way coop, and everyone I knew had a copy. Online great and all, but playing splitscreen is so much more fun.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2, on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis back in 1992. I was 10 at the time and, not having many friends who were into games and/or computers, what I knew of games up until that point seemed rather dull and uninteresting. Sonic 2 made me rethink my whole view of video gaming. It was fast, fun, beautiful, and transported me into an engaging world the likes of which I could never have imagined. Or something like that.

Shortly after that Doom was released. 'Nuff said.

A split between Smuggler's Run (PS2) and Halo:CE, both of which I played at a friends house.I didn't start playing games (aside from occasionally messing about on my Dad's combat flight simulator games) until 2000/2001.

They were the first games I played on a console, and enjoyed them so much.
Smuggler's Run, it was probably the freedom in it, and the un you could have, driving around an entirely open map, messing about.
Halo, because it was the first FPS I played, and I was actually good at it. The story (at the time to me, an 8-9 year old IRRC) was amazing, and the game play was hilariously fun - "I'm going to use this bazooka to smash that little dude in the face!" "I'm joyriding in a tank!"

Still love them today, and I would love to play both of them again.

Spyro the dragon, and in my opinion it's still an awesome game today.

I replayed through it the other day, and i noticed there were a lot of ways it could have been improved in terms or wrighting, the levels, the content. However, it was still none the less a brilliant game =)

I've been into games for as long as I could remember, we had a NES, a Genesis, and a Playstation when I was very young, and I remember I would play games like Spyro, Super Mario Brothers 3, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mortal Kombat, Punch Out, etc, etc. I remember that the first game I had ever played was Quake on the PC, and we had quite a few other PC games also, such as DOOM, Duke Nukem 3d, Jazz Jackrabbit, Sam & Max: Hit the Road, Full Throttle, etc.

I would have to say though, that the game that really "got" me into gaming, and cemented gaming as a life long passion for me, would have to be Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Looking back, this was a horrible game to give to a 8 year-old kid, but I really loved it, being able to drive around the city, shoot random people, and all the explosions. All the possibilities in that game made me realize just how fun games could be.

Operation Neptune for Windows 95
First game I ever played and we lived in a rural area so it was my only game for a long time and i craved for more. The game had you control a submarine and had a bit of maths thrown in, but with context.
