Has anyone mentioned the magnum from Singularity yet?

Incredibly weak, incredibly slow, and hard to aim to boot. Fun times.

trouble in terrorist town (garry's mod game mode) has a few popguns:

TMP: one round per second on what's supposed to be an SMG, combined with scratch damage per hit you have one to avoid.

pistol: fires once every 3 seconds and takes an entire clip to down someone.

AUG: fires spitballs and despite having a scope (which can't be used, mind) it's still pitifully inaccurate

MAC10: i have aerosol cans that are more accurate than this thing

and the worst of them all: the scout rifle. you can put the kettle on in the time it takes between shots, which do about 10 or so damage per shot. now, before the inevitable cries of "but you can get headshots with it" come to me, that only works if your enemy has the intelligence of an absent-minded gnat, and can dodge your slowass reload and snuff you out with a better weapon. AVOID.

Not that I've seen, but as I recall most of the weapons in Singularity where pretty awful, so the revolver didn't really stand out to me.

the pistol from carnivores: cityscape. It takes ten shots to kill a compsognathus. At least it has infinite ammo. I remember trying to take down an allosaurus with one though. took like thirty minutes and I had to hide on a truck.

I thought the magnum was actually one of the better weapons. Hated the sniper rifle.

Most of the weapons in Daikatana. A few highlights:
*Ion blaster: fires energy beams that ricochet off walls, often straight back at the player
*C4 Vizatergo: fires explosives with blast radius longer than its range
*Shotcycler: fires 6 shotgun blasts. In a row. Slowly. With no way to stop after one shot.
*Hammer: an explosive, AOE MELEE WEAPON
*Metamaser: Portable turret that fires insta-kill beams at all creatures in line of sight, including the player.

Useless = Mass Effect 3 Geth Assault Rifle
What? The Geth Assault Rifle is one of only three rifles in Mass Effect 3 that ISN'T useless. Whenever I unlocked a new assault rifle in the multiplayer I would excitedly slap it on my loadout, only to return from an abject failure of a mission having remembered from the singleplayer what was wrong with that one and switching back to the Phaeston or the Mattock, ever hoping that a GAR would turn up in a pack at some point so I wouldn't have to deal with the Phaeston's low damage output marring its otherwise perfect performance.

So yeah, OT that's my submission. Every assault rifle in Mass Effect 3 that isn't the Mattock, Phaeston or GAR. And the Mattock's pretty crap.

In Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, there's a point at maybe 1/4 through the game in the castle keep where you find a sword called "Tyrfing" which looks pretty cool when you look at the icon of a red sword surrounded by white flames, only problem is IT'S FUCKING USELESS! :D. it has 0 attack power, literally you do no damage with this weapon. the only way you can get it to harm someone is to level up your character enough that they can do damage without a weapon, then equip it.

There was also the Depot stage in Goldeneye for N64. at one point in the level, if you stumble into the right building, you find a huge weapons cache with AK-47's on multiple tables none of which have any ammo nor is it possible to find ammo for them in that stage. sadface. however they're sitting next to RPGs which happen to be loaded. seems legit.

Off the top of my head?

KSG from Blops 2 (seriously, why the fuck is it a slug gun?)
Shotgun from DE:HR (not the silverback, the vanilla one)
Hyperion sniper rifles from BL2 (Hyperion weapons actually work better fired from the hip, as there to much sway when ADS'ing before firing.
Every heavy weapon from ME2 (save the Cain, which is to be use when you have zero fucks to give about "collateral damage")
There's a fuck ton of weapons in FONV, but any pistol which fires bullets that can be fired from a rifle. (no need for a 357 revolver when I have the cowboy rifle.)
The combat shotgun from FO3 (my sneezes in game where more effective.)

Thats it for now...
Ok agree entirely on the Hyperion snipers from BL2 and wish to add Dahl railguns to that

The pistols from New Vegas I don't quite understand but that's more than likely a prefrence thing (probably because I went stealth and a good silenced rifle was impossible to find/afford early)

The Fallout 3 combat shotgun I really don't get at all, it always seemed to work just fine for me. If any weapon was useless in FO3 it was the grenade (I'm ignoring the Chinese Pistol since the the combat shotgun and grenade you actually expect to be able to do real damage with even midgame)

My, off the cuff memory, was that the revolver did decent, if not really spectacular damage. But, the long reload and low capacity dragged it down with the rest. The Sniper Rifle wasn't that bad as I recall, just an equally long reload, low capacity, and the scope made it useless in most environments. Of course, sitting here now, all I can remember is the AR, the Shotgun, the Magnum, and the Sniper Rifle, and I know there had to be other weapons, but so much of my time with Singularity blends together into a gawdawful mess.

I'm not sure what game you guys played. The sniper rifle gave me slow mo powers, and the magnum had the per-shot damage of the automatic rifle with a mere fraction of the speed.

I played a game that bored me to tears and made me long for the sweet release of death. A game where the weapons were all the same bleary mess of awful. Though I had forgotten about the sniper rifle's time dilation ability. :p

Yeah, I get the feeling it's mocking me...

Hammer of air in Wheel of Time: Running around as a squishy mage-type. Do you really want to that giant mutant pigman with a sword and do the equivalent of slap him? A really good way to die.

Pointed Stick in the Breath of Fire games. Worse than the starting daggers.

The arm in the Medievil games, particularly in 2 where it was useless against even the most basic enemies. At least in the first one the ranged attack was OK in the first few levels. The ranged weapons in Medievil 2 also deserve a mention for beign across the board worse than their Medievil I counterparts.

The bow in Blades of Darkness. Unlike other weapons, you don't get better with it as you level up, so it gets less useful on every stage.

Flaming Pigs in Rome total war. Flaming pigs. About as useful as you'd expect.

The copper short-sword from Terraria (starting weapon). Even a wooden sword is better then all of the short-swords in that game. >.<

the happy bubble blaster from just cause 2

Funniest part is the enemies in the game actually see it as a real gun and attack you when you use it, can't help but laugh every time I get whole army blowing me to pieces for using a bubble gun.

Borderlands 2 had its fair share of useless weaponry, apart from the Bane there was that one grenade mod where after exploding it sends a volley of smaller grenades specifically towards you, which was funny until I died and had to walk for half an hour again because the damn spawn point was placed too far.

Oh! Sniper rifles in Timesplitters 1. Sure, maybe once or twice during the Docks or Planet X levels, but I think I've just gone and mentioned all the levels they appear in, and what makes them so useless is that they don't have auto aim, which every other weapon does, and using the auto aim and taking into account that enemies have hardly any health and that you have more than enough ammo than you need, you will never need a sniper rifle provided your strafing skills are up to scratch. Just try playing arcade with a sniper rifle. You will be torn a new asshole. Stealth doesn't matter in Timesplitters 1, that game is all about running and fast as you can and taking as little damage as possible. Still heaps of fun, though.

The Iron Ball (whatever it's called) from Symphony Of The Night. And possibly a few more side weapons that do almost nothing.

Eh, I thought it was okay. But trust me, the magnum was a special kind of worthless. Maybe your memory is blocking it out for your own safety.
