I've never heard of most of the ones mentioned, but I remember loathing Fred and generally being annoyed by Smosh.

I actually don't mind Tobuscus though, I first found him through his 'literal trailers' and he's actually kinda funny and mostly harmless.

Surprised to see no Game Grump haters here, I fucking love Game Grumps but I'm sure it'll lose it's appeal in a few months.

If you were to go on the comments on their videos alone, people already despise them.

Oh I'm sure. I avoid youtube comments like that plague. As soon as they started playing more modern games I knew their 'fans' would start crying about selling out.

They just have a fanbase that's seemingly impossible to please. They do one thing, then people demand they do something different, and as soon as they do that people tell them to go back to the first thing.

Ummm... have you SEEN Game Grumps Animated? Some fans are hard to please; others are just damn talented, much like any fanbase.

Also, I'm surprised no one's mentioned The Archfiend. The hack's made a partnership out of bitching about Youtubers that are more popular than him. Now I already disapprove of that, but when you go after James Rolfe with no actual evidence to back up your accusations, the gloves come off.

EDIT: Okay, when you take a fanbase (a.k.a. a group of people), and treat them as if they're one person, of COURSE they'll look impossible to please. Just as the old saying goes, "you can't please everyone."

This entire thread is suffering from a lack of understanding of subjectivity. I feel that if someone sets out with the goal of entertaining people, and a large amount of people are entertained, they have suceeded. If someone attracts massive amounts of devoted fans, they are good at what they do. Mabey you don't like them but that is all about your personal tastes. Personally I really like Tobuscus, find PewDiePie passable, and don't like Ijustine... that doesn't make any of them worse or better, thats simply what I personally find entertaining.

On the Amazing Atheist, he makes good points often enough that I will stay subscribed to him, and watch most of what he puts out, though I have also relagated him to the pile of scumbag for insulting people in responses... but usually the non ad hom points are good enough for me to watch, and I agree with some of what he has to say.

I used to watch Tobuscus all the time but now he's sold his sold to youtube he's become boring. RWJ also sucks. KSI is my favorite youtuber

I totally agree, I liked his earlier stuff but now most of it annoys me. Either he dumbed his stuff down or I got sick of his style of dumbed down comedy, I'm not sure which.

I have nasty suspicion I just genuinely like that kinda crap but I'm not bothered to go through his back catalog and verify how good he used to be.

They could be not that bad of youtubers but their fanbase is just despicable. (Cough Yogscast)

A video titled "Gamers FAIL" where this guy attacks gaming and makes it look like [insert a game you hate here] represents every game. And then starts praising movies and how they reflect our personalities and souls and stuff while gaming is just a waste of time.

Okay, "subjectivity" is not an excuse for avoiding any and all criticism. If you were to post the same thing on a thread about Michael Bay or Twilight, you would get torn apart, because the fact of the matter is that some "subjective" things are just fucking terrible. Twilight lacks depth as a movie, is poorly acted, lacks decent writing, sends a terrible message to teenage girls, and just outright sucks ass. It may be "subjective," but that doesn't stop it from being terrible. That is how criticism as a whole works. Period.

I watch quite a lot different let's players and game reviewers. So many lets players take the highway and scream from top of their voice and curse a lot. When I was 18 I liked AVGN, now days I can't stand the guy anymore. Why must everyone scream? For me that is the biggest problem with any youtube personality.

It would be nice to see more softly-spoken presenters.
One reason why Yahtzee still works for me is his voice and very dry british sense of humor.

I dunno about ones I don't like... Jenna Marbles was mentioned, her videos are ... just ... yeah. It's like "hey guys look at me i'm a pretty girl with opinions" kind of thing. And it's like she's trying to lecture us about her opinions, not really... share them.

One youtuber I DO like is the guy who makes the "how to" videos. C:

She strikes me as being a lot smarter than she looks, and that the bimbo thing is just her comedy shtick. She normally only talks and jokes about bimbo stuff, and even then, she's surprisingly erudite about the subject.

IMO, their all either bandwagoning, Intolerant of others, Fakes, or just using stupid humor to shill, pander and get views. Usually some combination of all Four. However, Really to each their own, who am I to say that someones choice of channel is wrong when its just Opinion anyway?

Shout out to some GOOD channels though (not that some really need the help at all, just want to add some positivity): Quill18, OMFGCata, Damo2986, SapphirePhoenix08, and ElderGeekdotcom

I can agree with everyone of those except for KassemG. I'd say his content is still original and while though there is something predictable about him, I feel that the videos he create are not exactly bland and repetitive.

I have to say that I completely loathe Pewdiepie. Now, don't get me wrong, I am aware of the fact that people find him amusing and that there probably is an aspect to it that is funny, but I can't avoid wanting to hurt him every time I see his face. Maybe it's the unoriginal content, maybe it's every single stupid gimmick that they overuse, *cough* barrels *cough*, maybe I'm just unable to view anything he does in an unbiased way. I will for some reason never not hate him.

I dont know if you can really call him big (at only 8641 subs), but Hardyt3kyoyo has bothered me for a while. I get theres only so many times you can do a pokemon video and keep it fresh, but the "greats" (if you want to call them that) Like haydunn, shofu, marriland,and i bleieve its chuggaconroy or something to that affect (havent actually watched his channel), as well as the smaller greats like Black Light Attack, all do something to keep them interesting. when i watch one of hardy's videos, its just boring. he talks and half the time is completely unsure of himself, makes a mistake he'll chastise someone else for, and more often than not uses an idea right after one of the bigger names does it themselves.

and after he started branching off into the car talk videos and that girl he makes obvious he wants you to believe theyre dating starting making videos at his push its just tiresome.

Other than that... pewdiepie is hard to listen to if youre not in the mood.

I dont know anyone after that really. other than the all encompassing VEVOinsertbandnamehere channels, but thats more against VEVO than the bands themselves for advertising in the way they do.

It's the mentality of McDonalds. Nobody thinks McDonalds tastes incredible. Nobody praises them as a 5 star quality restaurant. People enjoy awe-inspiring, incredibly funny, thoughtful, and interesting things. But day to day (the majority of the time), they want something comfortable and simple. Something to just pass the time with. Something that is a little bland or normal. And so, they eat McDonalds, and they watch subpar youtubers.

For me, its not so much specific youtubers that I dislike, but rather, specific contents. Any sort of Let's Play that's gone on for 100+ episodes, Happy Wheels, Slender, Terraria, episodes are wastes of time IMO. The main problem is that they're all exactly the same. The same reactions to the same games. Nothing particularly enjoyable. Oh, and College Humor. That ship has sailed. They use to be funny, but now most of their comedies are Jake and Amir, sex jokes, and other juvenile shenanigans.
