Oh, I should have thrown in the disclaimer that I don't don't care. Even when I played WoW I thought it was like a porno, yeah there is a story but that's not why 90% of the people are here. It just doesn't matter.Capitano Segnaposto said:Who ever said I despised the entire Alliance? Sure I may hate Night Elves (bastards) and Blood Elves (Bigger Bastards), but I don't despise ALL of the Alliance. Hell I love the gnomes! They are great practice for Punting. Also humans are very tasty.Eddie the head said:Wait when you get attacked it's the whole faction? But when you attack them it's just some radical? . . . However, I do enjoy the Dwarven Works. Hell I helped the Archeologist multiple times.
But seriously, fuck elves. Evil bastards destroyed my home. And they DARE join the Horde? Bah. Fruity little bats.

Good god, just leave the freaking game alone! Do you know theres people that actually might like the game right?
Think you can send a link to that thread my way? I'm pretty curious about it now.Terminate421 said:This may very well be the worst thread of the year. Not because "I'm being mean" but because it makes no sense.
There are 9 million subscribers and more coming back due to Most of Pandaria (which is fun so far)
WoW is fun still, this thread reminds me of the "Why do Halo players play Halo and not good valve games?" thread we had a few years back. Horrid memories of lost IQ.....
Still not sure why people believe that it's WoW's fault that OTHER developers are SO lazy and don't have an original thought in their heads. Also, you said WoW needs to die so an MMO can come out that is worth playing. Umm, Guild Wars 2? ArenaNet has PROVEN, that if you are actually willing to use your brain, you can come out with a good MMO that isn't a straight WoW clone.Nomanslander said:Yeah, people have been "prophesying" the death of WoW since it's incarnations, and all that's happened is it's grown bigger and... well, not better... but still!
If you ask me, the game has another 4 to 5 year life span until Blizzard reveals and releases it's Titan project. And know Blizzard, we'd be lucky if we got to see what Titan was this decade, a good century or two before release... easier getting to Mars I'd say than that happened.

Because WoW ruined MMOs forever. The combination of it's dated game mechanics and success has driven countless other companies into the ground trying to accomplish half of what Blizzard did, and the games have suffered because of it.
Imagine if a Final Fantasy game had become the pinnacle of RPGS, and not just JRPGs. It had made so much money and become so successful that every developer that had plans to make an RPG tried to remake that one Final Fantasy - let's say it was VII. Now you might say VII had already become ridiculously over-hyped and undeservingly popular and had branch countless copy cats; but, it still doesn't compare. Imagine if EVERY FUCKING RPGS UP TIL NOW was a remake of that game.
Another words:
No Mass Effect
No Dragon Age
No more Fallout
No more Elder Scrolls
No Western RPGs... period.
Nothing but FF7 clones for years to come. Or another words FF13 every few months.
That's what WoW has done to MMOs; it's stagnated the genre so badly no attempts of originality in the last 7 years have been made. NONE!
That's why WoW needs to die, and die hard so one day an MMO can come out again that might be worth playing. 0o
Yeah and I could argue it's pretty objectively bad, and Middle Earth is pretty objectively good. But I don't want to get into it. The narrative is just all over the place. And I am going to get into this.Capitano Segnaposto said:And I would argue that quite a large chunk of the current WoW Population does indeed enjoy the lore and follow it immensely. They wouldn't have added an entire section of the Endgame specifically for Lore followers if they were only a tiny percent.
While, yes, it won't win any awards for its originality, I still enjoy it. More so than I enjoy Middle Earth.
While I personally hate the idea of MMOs in general, I do agree with these two. It's just a fucking game.Nautical Honors Society said:This.aguspal said:Why do people want to kill WOW?

Dear lord people, it's a video game that makes a lot of people happy.
If you don't like it, don't play it, but no need to wish for its demise.
It's a video game.
For what is hopefully the last time, the Pandaren have been involved with Warcraft since Warcraft 3, which, I might add, was released in 2002, 6 ENTIRE YEARS BEFORE KUNG FU PANDA.KING POJO said:What killed WoW for me was Pandaria.
It's fucking Kung Fu Panda.
Yes, they were basically a joke put in there. One joke character in the Founding of Durotar campaign, and a secret bonus character in one of the Blood Elf missions. That's what the extent of pandas in WC3 was. Until this.FeralDynasty said:For what is hopefully the last time, the Pandaren have been involved with Warcraft since Warcraft 3, which, I might add, was released in 2002, 6 ENTIRE YEARS BEFORE KUNG FU PANDA.KING POJO said:What killed WoW for me was Pandaria.

I guess we're ignoring the Pandaren creeps that some of the WC3 maps had on them?Vegosiux said:Yes, they were basically a joke put in there. T'was shitty game design and stubborn refusal by the developing party to admit their mistake killed the beast.phreakdb said:As it is, I am not an avid fan of WoW. I have told the people I socialize with that the reason I quit WoW was because it turned into Facebook with a video game UI. Add to that the removal of challenge and you have a formula for failure in my book.
It would seem however, and I am estimating here, that there are at the very least 20000 people, many with multiple accounts, or posting for their 100 member count guilds, saying they hate a new feature called CRZ. (There are actually around 2 15000 post threads full, and still rising. However, there are some responses in there every few posts saying "This is Great!!!" by griefers)
What is CRZ you might ask? It is apparently the bane of a great many WoW players. It is Cross Realm Zones. Blizzard has come up with an (apparently faulty) algorithm that yanks you off of your home server, and deposits you elsewhere. It has lead to an explosion of corpse camping, node farming, and people having presumably wasted millions of dollars on server transfers and the like.
And Blizzard continues to remain 'Committed' to the mechanic. It would seem, that ultimately, WoW has been killed by the only game it could be killed by: WoW.

The point isn't subscribers, the point is having a thriving community. The fact is MMOs are little more than facebook with an RPG attached to it, and community is what counts. Now I've played just about every worthwhile MMO that has come out since WoW - Eveonline included - and none of them have satisfied me with this sense more than WOW had except for the game mentioned (unfortunately Eve online just wasn't the game for me - gameplay wasn't my cup of tea = boring as shit). But anyways, there hasn't been one MMO since WOW to give me that sense of grandeur; just about everyone I've played fell apart in terms of community long before the game got interesting.Verrik said:Another thing, I think people seem to think that an MMO's success = having subscriptions greater than, or equal to, WoW. That's not the case, just because an MMO may not have the numbers that WoW has, doesn't mean it is unsuccessful.
This post tells the truth.acosn said:WoW was never hard.phreakdb said:As it is, I am not an avid fan of WoW. It was just the presence of unnecessary difficulty that makes people think they were "hardcore" when in all reality it was just a masochism check.
Doing things like rounding up 40 people to do raids, or doing old school naxx in the narrow window you had before BC hit wasn't exactly hard. It was just time consuming. I'd know, I was there.
Meanwhile an encounter like 0-light yogg which was stuffed in what's considered the easiest all-around expansion to WoW was virtually ignored because....it was hard. Really hard. Only one guild who min-maxed to an absurd level even beat it before Blizzard caved and nerfed it.
Considering that the game is centered around raids making 5 man instances and heroics both difficult and time consuming is stupid. You screw over people who aren't casual, and aren't hardcore because the people who put in the time will only want to put up with hard instances if they're with their buddies, and meanwhile everyone else gets stuck with the guy who doesn't even begin to min-max and doesn't get why you want to gem and enchant gear. Those heroics everyone complained were too easy were suppose to be easy by design because they were meant to ferry you to raid content. And it's not like you couldn't make the heroics hard either- seriously, how many people did the heroic instance meta-achievement? How many?
