I said they were running out of ideas for new Pokemon a long time ago and you all laughed at me! All of you!

And I thought Platinum had bad starter pokemon...

Shame on me for actually getting my hopes up about the Pokemon design.
If you don't like a giant spiked turtle with a land mass on its back.
That sounds like a mix between Blastoise and the fully evolved Grass type starter Pokemon from Gold/Silver.
Huh...that's pretty much just great A'Tuin from Pratchett's discworld

As someone who's never played pokemon I can safely say you people are over reacting
Pokemon aren't getting uglier, you just grew up [http://nerfnow.com/comic/302]

As someone who only ever played pokemon red and blue and stopped playing because i didnt like the gold and silver new pokemon, iv noticed that with every generation everyone initially hates the new pokemon then grows to love them

Give it time, i bet after a week of playing the game the majority of u will start to like them!

You said it.
And there's always going to be someone saying the new starters are trash compared to Gen I's starters.

I like the Fire type.

I usually pick the Fire type, although Torchic I think was still the worst Fire type of the starters. Infernape is annoying sometimes as well because it's Fighting along with Fire so it's susceptible to Flying attacks.

I suspect this Fire fully evolved form maybe a Fire/Ground type.

True, I already have to admit at first I hated them but each time I look at them I begin to like them more and more. In fact I don't hate them anymore not even the water one. So I guess I will be able to keep going with my always using the water starter. (Though they will never be better then the second gen starters, yeah!)

They better have awesome looking evolutions because right now I'm really disappointed. That water starter is going right next to Nosepass.

Because the starters serve as a quick way to teach the "rock paper scissors" mechanic and there isn't another combination that work together like that.
Flying-Fighting-Rock

Dark-Psychic-Fighting

Poison-Grass-Ground

There are plenty of other combinations, it's the comfort of a formula that fans look for.

People often have ideas that would break a game just for shits and giggles. I am glad these people do not run game making companies.

I see a lot of complaining about "This Pokemon does not look awesome! How will I ever have fun again?!"
I am not seeing a problem, personally.

I also like how they all look.

Flying-Fighting-Rock (Would work I guess...)

Dark-Psychic-Fighting (Wouldn't work because Psychic is basically useless against dark, so it's not rock paper scissors like fire/water/grass)

Poison-Grass-Ground (Would work too I guess Though it's got grass in it sooo...)

There are plenty of combos that do the rock paper scissors, but find one that doesn't get stuck in the pokebox and replaced with something better. Most things those types cover are already covered under the water, ice, fire set up that nearly everyone has, or become redundant in the wake of TMs.

I just hope there are more "new" pokemon evolutionary lines this time around, not just another evolution tacked on the end of an existed evolution chain (Froslass, Gallade, Magmortar, Electivire, the list goes on...)

OT: I like all these mon, I think the water one is this thing most gamers seem to hate: cute. Along with the pig, who is also so... joyfull looking. The grass one is pretty damn smug, so I'll look forward to wiping my mates versions smile off its face (He always picks grass type, no matter what.)

I just want to see their evolutions, you never know the water one could turn into a carnivorous otter/seal thing yet.

The water one knows that everyone is going to choose smugleaf or happypig, and he is saaaaad.
