Grass types are usually my least favourite pokemon, but if I pick up this one (which I doubt) I'll have to take the lizard thing. Simply because least strange.

I'm guessing the water type is some sort of mix between an otter and a beaver. I haven't been keeping up, has that been done yet?

IAWTC. The grass type actually looks OKAY. The water type just looks weird. I'll decide when I see their final forms though.
And there goes my hope that the new designs would be good.

The water type looks like someone made a terribly colour coordinated ice cream, crammed it in to a vat of radioactive waste, but it in the microwave, tacked on two paper eyes and a crappy little frowning mouth, stabbed black pockmarks in to its cheeks, got angry with it, jammed a shell in to its chest, took it to the beach AND LEFT IT THERE.

The Snake is Tank, but his eye is a bit big, I have high hopes for an awesome evolution.

And the pig...... well.... what can I say about the pig, his colouring erks me... but his evolutions could prove to be totally righteous

To me, the last good starters were from the Ruby generation. Torchic and Mudkip were awesome. This is just... terrible.

I think people are not giving these guys enough credit. Am i the only person who thought and Chimchar was stupidest starter ever created? I mean cmon the monkey is literally shitting fire....The pig is cool, its cute and its got black on it I'm sure it will be cool. I find the grass starter...intriguing like its a bit odd looking but i like the whole snake thing its got going on, its a good idea...
I will agree the water starter looks gimmicky...but you know i like otters so i'm gonna let it slide. I never pick the water starter anyway.

You know, it seems like the starts always have a pattern... One is cool looking, one's funny looking and the last is the cute looking one...

If I had to categorize?

Cool: Bulbasaur, Totodile, Treeko, Turtwig, Smugleaf
Cute: Charmander, Cyndaquil, Torchic, Piplup, WaterOtter
Funny: Squirtle, Chikorita, Mudkip, Chimchar, FirePig

Up for debate of course, specifically with Gen II, which IMHO is the best starts overall, purely on their stage one appearances. Best final stages is really all around, though Blaziken and Empoleon are easily in the top 3.

Holy cow, those starter Pokemon are ugly (except for the grass one, maybe). At least the trainers are cute, although I don't know what they were thinking with the girl's clothes.

I'm not a fan of the new artwork, as I have mentioned before. I don't know if I will even buy it when it is released. I'm currently content with my collection. Maybe I will actually finish the Pokedex, for once.

Grass- don't know what it is, but it's pretty awesome

Water- ... huh, looks... odd, but not a terrible one

Fire- A fire... pig, meh

Half of these posts are either "That water snowman otter thing looks retarded" or "The First generation will always be the best!" Guys, calm the fuck down. These pokemon look fine, you just aren't used to them. And for the people who are complaining about new generations as a whole, Take off the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia already. We have a grass type pokemon who looks like a snake and would most likely be a sweeper, a fire pig who looks like it will turn into a badass fire breathing boar, and an otter who most likely will grow his shell and become a defensive tank. There have been plenty of worse starter pokemon (I'm looking at you Meganium), and most likely, when the 6th generation comes out, these same people will be complaining that those starter pokemon don't look nearly as good as these. Just give them a time to grow on you, and besides, chances are if you bought the last generations of pokemon games, you're going to buy these ones regardless.

OT: Leave the otter alone, he looks fine, and you haven't even seen his final evolution yet, so leave the poor aquatic mammal alone.
